Have had good service from Holiday inn both sides of the Atlantic BUT not this time. Room was tired bathroom very small and needing basic repairs. Room / bed OK. Reception service good. BUT THE restaurant service was awful. Dinner service was not good took desert order then forgot it, had to be reminded twice!! Breakfast was POOR 9am most hot dishes empty and. Being replenished one at a time with 5-10 mins between items. Ran out of unsliced bread! Staff stressed and run ragged. Fried eggs rock hard. All in all abysmal. IHG You have a failing management issue here!
Impressed Friendly helpful staff . Room clean and well equipped. Bathroom is small but great shower. Nice breakfast too. Would stay here again doesn't look from the outside as good as it really is nice to have air conditioning in room that works well. Great location as well
we had good stay in this hotel . the price are reasonable, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is at a good level but we had to wait for a table. our room was large as all holiday inn . they have a big parking place and there is s bus stop near the hotel.
Stayed here for the weekend.the staff were really friendly, the breakfast very good. And although breakfast times were fairly busy food was replenished quickly so we didn't have to wait too long. Although we intended to use the park and ride to go into York, there was a bus stop which was nearer. So we used that. Cheap enough and a bus every 5 to 10 minutes.
3 night stay whilst attending a wedding in york. Good size room, but tiny bathroom. Plenty of free parking with good bus links into york making it a great base. What makes this hotel good is the staff that work there. A relatively young team, who work extremely hard to meet the guests needs. Must mention the night manager who checked us in on our arrival (after midnight) and how on our second night night he dealt with an issue we had with some noisy guests near our room. Although our second night was totally ruined by these guests and we had very little sleep before attending our family wedding, he dealt with the situation calmly and remained totally professional. Generally a good breakfast, but no granola!
The outside looked like an average 70's council office building so we were a bit worried but inside the reception and hallways were nice the staff were lovely and the bedroom was comfortable. The bathroom was small but clean and modern all in all it was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was buffet style but again quite nice and lots of options. They had complimentary coffee tea and fruit tea by the car park entrance when we arrived which I was very happy about as we always run out of the bits in the room. I'm not sure how long it's there as it was removed by the time we got in on the evening and not yet out when we left the following morning. All in all a good experience
2 Night stay bed and breakfast, Room was very clean and modern, totally satisfied with the room but felt the breakfast was too much for what was on offer, was buffet but bacon eggs tomatoes and especially the black pudding were drying out under the hot lamps. Good location for the buses into York.
This hotel is convenient as a break of journey stop for us. We have used it several times before. The room was good, clean and up to date. Service at the desk is professional and friendly. Good spacious and peaceful restaurant. Good breakfast, Can prepay at a saving for two people. Good bus services to town. Very good parking. National Trust property next door, home of the Terry family of chocolate fame well worth a visit. Rates at this hotel can be good if race meeting dates avoided.
Bathroom smallest been in for a hotel. Buffett breakfast good. Staff all pleasant. Bar prices high. Overnight price high due to racehorse meeting on . Got home was charged £26 for movies we hadn't watched . Receptionist said "oh that can happen , don't know why ? " . Wonder how many have been charged and not noticed . Be aware.
Ordered food in the lounge, have to order at the bar. Dogs permitted in lounge area but not restaurant. Have full choice of both restaurant and lounge menus if sitting in lounge. The food did take a while to wait for, ordered sandwiches. However well worth waiting for. Would suggest better to go for toasties as bread very dry. Receptionists extremely helpful and professional. Had set menu in the evening. 3 courses for £18. The portions are very generous. Bedrooms large and comfortable. Shower full length (not over the bath). Unfortunately the basin was blocked (but as my husband is a plumber he soon sorted it out). Shower water did not drain away very fast. Reported this to Reception who made a note of the problems. We stayed in room 29. My son stayed in room 33. As a member of the Holiday Inn Club I had a letter saying I could have a newspaper. I tried to order one of my choice. However I was told I could only have 'I'. This was ok as we weren't sure which one to choose. Neednt have worried as we never received a paper at all. We were atttending the York 10k run so newspaper didnt really matter anyway.
