Four of us stayed in June 2017 for 4 nights. The hotel is well situated about 20 mins slow walk from the Cathedral and the main shopping areas. Reception was friendly and quick. Our room (202, a twin) was quite large and comfortable. Only gripes are that the bathroom sink is far too small - almost useless fore a man who wet-shaves! Also the extract fan seems to work but extracts nothing. A tissue held against it fell away when released. As an ex air conditioning engineer I was not impressed! The breakfast was really good and included the usual British items plus continental choices. Altogether an enjoyable stay. Would certainly return.

Good hotel, but nothing special. - Rooms are basic but clean. - Staff are friendly. - Decent price compared to other hotels in city. - Good location. - Food is decent enough but would recommend going into the city for more options.

I was a little sceptical when I read other reviews but booked this hotel based on availability. When we arrived the reception staff were very helpful, took our luggage and advised on parking. The room was clean and comfortable overlooking the courtyard/entrance with everything we needed including a very comfy bed. We stayed for two nights and found the location was perfect for strolling into the city centre and next door to sainsburys for anything you may have forgotten. We did however find the drinks were rather pricey in the bar but the breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and all fresh and hot.

Disappointing stay at this hotel. Put in a room with only access invoking stairwell - not ideal with luggage. Needed help to get to and from room, no ability to access without assistance. TV broken in the room, replacement TV eventually located an hour later - established broken airiel and not tv. Breakfast doesn't start until 7am for those working my preference would be to access at 6.30am. The staff at breakfast were unorganised and uninterested in the customer experience - disappointing ! This hotel is a good location so the experience has not supported a repeat stay.

Overall the hotel was excellent, nice staff, superb breakfast and very clean, however we were in an annexe of thehotel. This was fine until the night when we realised the room next to ours needed serious soundproofing. The walls are paper thin to the extent we could here our neighbour being ill all night, not nice, I have passed my comments on and hopefully this issue will get resolved. Otherwise a good hotel.

The room size was good with the furniture/bedding etc to a high standard. Food in the hotel quite good but be aware the dining room can get full for breakfast during busy times with you having to wait for a table. Staff fairly attentive/friendly. The location is great for visiting the City, about 5 mins walk from the Cathedral. Reduced prices for the nearby car park, easy to find and very secure/safe, drop off available outside reception. I would recommend this hotel and will use again.

Great location just outside the city walls and my parents always stayed here when they visited York. Hotel was recommended by family. Was really looking forward to our visit as it had a lift as we were traveling with my partners 81 year old mother. The hotel looks nice. We booked many months ago but it started to go wrong when we booked it. We we not booked into the hotel but in the smaller building next door and to 2 first floor rooms. when asked where the lift was we were advised that there was none so an 81 year old would have to climb stairs. We advised that his was not good enough as we had booked this hotel because of lift and location as not suitable for an older person to climb stairs. We then got moved down to 2 ground floor room- one being for disabled people. What would of happened if a disabled person wanted to stay? We then waited and waited fro our luggage but it had not show up. I then asked staff at reception only to be told that they had forgotten about the matter and had not moved our luggage from the old to the new rooms. During the middle of the night someone emptied a lot of bottles into a dumpster in the car park, which is not used for car parking waking us up. Between 7 and 7.15am a number of builders vehicles arrived and parked the car park and then lots of voices and noise as they started work on the addition for the hotel. When checking out at 8.30am i complained about the noises and i i was advised that i had not mentioned in my booking that we would need to stay in the main hotel near the lift and that the workers were not due to start work till 9 am and he would raise the issue with them. Poor response from hotel management and staff during our stay and seems to be a theme on this site as really ruined what is a great location and stay in York.

Very well placed hotel for what we required Rooms adequate and cleaned as soon as left for the day. Breakfast excellent and dinner not so much choice at lower price range. Staff very helpful especially in the dining room

Lovely atmosphere in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a room with a view of the Minster. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The lounge area was beautifully decorated having been recently refurbished. We are not ones to use the same hotel on regular visits but this one is an exception. Situated just outside the city walls it was ideal and just a short walk into the main attractions.

Great location, loved the quirky feel of this hotel. Upgraded to a superior room, it was totally worth it, had a larger room and bed with a separate seating area and lots of extras. Parking was available a minute walk away and car was secure overnight. Would definitely stay here again :)))
