We stayed two nights at this hotel and can`t wait to return. Spotlessly clean room not a mark on carpet or walls. Wonderful roomy bathroom, plenty of drawer space and the best hotel room for lighting ie make up, shaving etc., we have stayed in for a long time. The meals were good and plentiful in a light and airy dining room. The staff could not be faulted always cheerful, helpful, whatever was asked of them nothing was too much trouble. To top all that the hotel was right on the sea front. Wonderful!!

once again a wonderful stay great position staff always very helpful and pleasant, the room did not have a view but as we requested one near the lift and no stairs beggars cannot be choosers the room however was very large always a bonus will retun

Stayed here for only 1 night as we were attending a funeral but will return for a longer stay in the future. The hotel overlooks the beach and is well placed for local pubs and restaurants as well as the usual seaside town activities. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and very well appointed with everything you need. There is a pool and gym which we did not use but looks lovely. The breakfast was the usual hotel style buffet but there were happy to cook fresh eggs/salmon etc if not in the buffet food. Already looking forward to a return visit.

We stayed in a corner suite and the views are fantastic. All very clean and tidy. The bathroom was lovely and had a large bath. I would definitely recommend the cooked breakfast. By far the best breakfast I've tasted and the portions are huge! We had ours brought to our room for a £4 charge. Room service is available, but I would recommend visiting Little Italy down the road for an evening meal.

We stayed one night here and I can honestly say the staff were outstading - from the two maids on our floor to the Restaurant Manager everyone was extremly friendly and helpful. Samantha on the Reception desk dealt with our phone booking very efficently and when we needed some help with charging our phones on arrival she dealt for the problem quickly with a smile. The room (112) was lovely with a great view of the sea - not even any fog (not sure they arranged this). Bathroom large with a bath. Bed very comfortable although I don't like the very soft pillows that many hotrels now provide. I'm sure they would have been changed if we asked. Internet connection Excellent and didnt need constantly logging back into as in some hotels. There was a wedding downstairs (one floor below us) with disco and plenty of guests. We heard nothing in our room. Very quiet. Breakfast was fine although the food wasn't as hot as I would like it. Eggs cooked to order which I do like. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and always making sure everything was dealt with. The Manager checked with us that everything was to our liking. Checking out easy and again a friendly smile to send us on our way Well done

We had an interesting few nights stay here. The view from our room was beautiful. Lovely to wake up to the sea and sun in the morning. Fantastic location and just up the road from the family we were visiting. Didn't eat at the hotel but the cafe/bar always had people in it when we went out or returned. The smell of the pool and leisure centre in the foyer definitely made us feel like we were on holiday. The facilities were good and the rooms just what we wanted. One negative was that wifi was only free in public areas not from rooms which can be an inconvenience. The reception staff were brilliant; so polite and helpful. Slightly disappointed with more senior staff after an incident that occurred during our stay however that was eventually happily resolved. Would I stay here again? Yes. The views and location are too good to say no.

We have used the Marriott on loads of occasions both for staying over and meals we called in today for afternoon tea no problem with the meal although very expensive for what it was, the staff were brilliant very attentive and helpful the problem was the service charge on top of the bill it should be down to the individual to tip the staff not have it on top of the bill so you're not sure who the money actually goes to

Stayed here over Easter period And what can I say.. great value for money Got a Superior room that overlooks the sea for a great price. Nice views, nice room.. not too tight.. I think the TV needs upgrading but that's about it From checking in to checking out .. no drama at all...

Stayed at the Marriott on a Sunday evening. Parking was quick and easy and just a few steps to the reception area. Checking was flawless, the reception team, smiley and very helpful and polite, giving us all the inhouse info we required. King size room, plenty of space, warm and tidy. Only fault, the toilet didn't flush properly, but reported on checkout. Breakfast, self service style with plenty to choice. Breakfast team very helpful and polite, my partner even recognising the head chef, who's we worked with over twenty years ago...small world, as the saying goes. We would recommend the hotel to anyone, great seafront location.

I don't think there is much choice for good hotels in Sunderland, but I might be wrong! This Marriott didn't quite meet the expectations I would have expected. My room was a little bit tired. A good proportion of the rooms are a funny walk through the building away from the main reception which, if you don't like stairs, require you to use two lifts! Some rooms will have a sea view too - so if that is important to you, you'd better ask for one! Self-service breakfast was okay and the staff were very friendly. Would I go back? - Possibly...
