I was 2 weeks in June in the Marriot for business in the área, the hotel is really nice located in the seafront which gives the chance to walk or run in the beach, it has a good breakfast and nice facilities as gym which I went pretty often and an interior swimming pool. However the best of all it is their employees, i forgot some personal ítems in the room and i realised after flying back, I phoned and they coordinated, next morning Karen confirmed that she found them and organize the shipping to Spain, I want to say a special thank you to Karen and colleagues. A good stay is made by the facilities and location of the hotel but a good experience is made by their staff which are great. Sure that if I am in the área I will return
Having stayed in several other Marriott hotels, this is the worst yet. Let me just say that the front of house staff were lovely and friendly, The location was fantastic for what we needed it for and the room was fine, not spectacular, but it was ok. The big humongous let down for me was the breakfast. Now, the reason I usually book a Marriott is for the bed/mattress and the BREAKFAST. Marriott breakfasts are usually my a great standard and always hit the spot. This Marriott's breakfast, well…. Consisted of poorly cooked bits of sausage, hash browns, bacon and scrambled egg etc. left in those self-service trays. There was a poor selection of pastries, muffins, cheeses and meats. There was some cereals and toast, as standard. And some nearly empty bowls of fruit. I could hardly touch the cooked breakfast, so just had a bowl of cereal and some watery coffee. The usual Marriott breakfast standard was certainly NOT met here. Also what irritated me was that I was with my son (5) and whilst we were sat picking around our, almost inedible, breakfast the lady who seated us was seeing to a table close to us who had children and asked if they wanted pancakes? Where was our offer of pancakes please???? After paying full price for 2 adults for breakfast for 2 nights, myself, my partner & my son were left feeling very disappointed and very hungry.
The reception staff are very welcoming, and patiently explained everything we needed to know. The room numbering system takes some getting used to.The room was spacious, but the furniture was rather old,and the beds were a bit on the firm side. The seat on the armchair was squashed nearly flat. The bathroom was bright and modern, with plenty toiletries provided. The sea view was much appreciated. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide range to suit all tastes,Again, staff were friendly and helpful.
Stayed for 2 nights in a corner suite. This was one of the best rooms we have stayed in. The view over the promenade & sea enhanced our stay. the room was appointed to a high standard & all the staff were welcoming & helpful. Breakfast quality was good as was the bar service. Plenty of free parking was a bonus, Marriott are in the process of upgrading the hotel & I'm sure they will achieve their goal. There was also an excellent leisure centre.
Enter complex off roundabout through automatic barrier, challenge to find parking but assured they have 94 stalls. Upgraded to junior suite which was very nice but on first floor which is a hike from front desk with luggage. They offered delivery service but the young girl humping my heavy suitcase just wasn't going to happen. Large facility with great fitness area, pool & spa if your looking for a lazy day. Great beach across the street, streets which are empty for a great morning run. Very friendly helpful staff, good breakfast service & evening meal, although food prices are steep. £7.50 for 5 chicken wings that cost me 15c at home in a bar is a stretch. Laundry service was another disappointment at £4.50 a shirt and the detergent used, small made me heave. I'm sure back in 1960's this place was the rocking place to be, alas 50 years gone by and in serious need of upgrading into 21st century. Staff can't speak more highly of, parking an issue with fitness & spa drop in none guests, feel they can use handicapped spaces. Still recommend & if ever back in area will book again. Maybe next to me I will take an extra day to use all the facilities.
The staff were lovely had a lovely day/night celebrating my sister and brother in laws wedding day the food was very nice but they could of stocked up on some of there drinks as they sold out of some alcohol
The staff were very welcoming and lovely. Didn't use the spa facilities but they're open until a decent hour so you get plenty of time to relax. The breakfast in the morning is buffet so it's nice not having to wait for it to be cooked but also plenty of cold options so very nice.
Fantastic nights stay for a wedding at another hotel . Great deal on room including breakfast. Room at the back but with dual aspect large clean and tidy and supplied with all toiletries, light and airy with a large very comfortable bed. Breakfast room lovely and clean no scrum down for breakfast. Very nice would highly recommend and would come again without hesitation.
A tired seaside hotel. Looks tatty from the outside but gets better inside. Parking is tight especially for 4x4 vehicles. Had a room with a lovely sea view which had its own living area too. Furniture in the room was dreadfully dated and worn. Arms of the couch showing threads through the red velvet. Tiny shower cubicle with very poor water supply meant it took ages to shower and the poor water levels in the cistern meant the toilet took 3 flushes to clear. Restaurant food was nice and staff cheerful but this place needs money spent in the rooms
We had great difficulty finding this Hotel, as its address is Queens Parade. it is actually on Whitburn Road!! 'I have a King-size room for you,' stated the Receptionist. 'Great,' we said. He failed to mention it was a camel trek away. We went up one floor on the lift, along a long corridor, through a set of doors, down a flight of stairs around another corridor and down some more steps to our room. The room itself was fine but there was a smell of the sea lingering in the corridor outside. This was only an overnight so we weren't overly concerned. we had a walk along the sae front and a good, pre-meal drink in the bar. What saved it, was the Staff, each one was so friendly and so helpful. We ate in the Restaurant and had an excellent meal, which provided great value for money. first time ever, though, at breakfast- no marmalade. The order hadn't come in yet. ( A large well-known supermarket was 200 yards down the road. initiative.) overall this Hotel disappointed. It did not live up to its online photographs and my associated image of the Marriott brand name.
