Loved the decor!!! Afternoon staff was pleasant and helpful. Morning front desk was not very pleasant when inquiring about an early check-in when my flight plans were changed. Other than that, I loved my stay.

There was a stale smell (doritos) in the room upon arrival that lasted for days.

We had a great experience at check-in. We arrived very early and they were able to accommodate us + upgrade us to a king bed. Both employees at the desk were very kind! We were sold on this hotel at that point. Overall, the hotel was very nice as far as layout, size, and bathroom are concerned. We would stay there again based on that. However, upon check out there was a $160 charge for amenities (coffee, wifi [that did not work and therefore we did not use] a dry cleaning option, and a gym we didn't know about). These amenities are great to offer, but for $160 for a 4 night stay? We only had 4 tiny cups of coffee total, didn't use the dry cleaning, didn't use the gym, didn't use the wifi. I get that it needs to be a blanket charge for everyone, and I'm sure this charge is listed in the fine print somewhere in a confirmation email, however, I chose this hotel partially because when I booked through Orbitz it said $0 for service or resort fee. Other hotels list the fees. This one did not, so I thought the total I pre-paid would cover the stay. Wasn't happy about the $160. When we checked in, a man was checking out and he was surprised by his charge too, so I suspect this is a common complaint.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Gregory. It was in an excellent location, it was clean and friendly staff.

Wonderful staff, early check in, the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are just perfect. Very clean and comfy!

Terrific hotel. Atmospheric, boutique, stylish. Friendly staff

Very nice and well located. Front desk staff very friendly !

Hotel staff were incredible. Only complaints were the small size of elevators however very minor. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Close to all attractions, restaurants, and shopping!!!

Small hotel, friendly staff, very spacious rooms. Great affordable hotel in nyc.

The hotel itself is pretty decent. The location is great, a block from Herald Square and short walks to different subway lines. However, when we checked in, we were charged an additional $160 for three nights stay, which basically covered two 16 oz bottles of water each day and internet service. That added an extra $53 to each night. If we knew that was the real rate, we would have stayed somewhere else. They said there was free coffee, but it was only for a short time in the mornings, in the lobby. Ice was only available on two of the 13+ floors. The air conditioner sounded like a freight train, and the hotel was very noisy. Between the extra charges and the lack of the modern amenities in the room that nearly every other decent hotel has, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. There are much better options, and at the advertised rate + $53/day, this is a very expensive option.

Small, quaint, clean and very comfortable beds. Hotel staff was very nice, professional and accommodating. Had to leave my luggage for the day when I checked out. They kept it secure all day and into evening before I went back to pick up and leave to go home. The room was small, but I expected that being in NYC. Pricey but again I expected that being in NYC. So I based my stars on my expectations.

Our first, but not our last, stay at the Gregory was wonderful! The hotel is in a terrific location with easy access (less than a block) to the subway at Hearld Square. The staff is friendly and great source of informaton on the area. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and best of all quite! Highly recommend the Gregory for your stay in New York City!

At check-in I was told I had to pay a resort fee of $28 ($32+ after taxes). It was for Internet access, morning coffee (available after 7:00 AM), and bottled water in the room (Nestle water perhaps). I objected, pointing out that the Orbitz listing for the hotel listed Internet service as free, that I would check out before 7:00 AM and the coffee offer was of no use to me, and that I loved Hudson River water and didn't drink water in plastic bottles. The hotel refused to budge and I must now complain to Orbitz as the "resort fee" should have been included in the price of the hotel since, as the hotel clerk stated, "Everyone pays it." I will no longer use Orbitz.

Lovely staff at a unique boutique hotel. The rooms are small but quaint and the adjoining restaurant is convenient. Very well priced for location and service.

The room was smallish but that would be expected. The bathroom was tiny. A larger person would not have been able to enter the bathroom or use the facilities. The building was very nice but definitely old and small.

Staff was always very nice and helpful. The hotel is older but kept in good condition. Stayed in Superior Queen/Queen, and it was good size and beds very comfortable. Great location at Herald Square and very easy access to many subway lines and local shopping/dining.

We appreciate the feedback, Leslie. We regret to hear that you were caught off guard by some of the fees associated with your booking. It's unfortunate you didn't notice the fees previously. In no way do we intend on hiding it from our guests as the information is readily available on our website. We'll be sure to pass this along to the appropriate members of our team for future improvement. Thanks again for sharing your feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve our guests' experiences and we intend on using your concerns to do just that.
