I will be very honest. This might have been the biggest disappointment in 50+ years of hotels. Sheets dirty. Soap dispenser not working. Day flies or whatever those insects are called flying out of the toilet when I opened the lid. Noise so loud that only the white noise from air condition helped. Then when I complained to the manager he offered me a smaller room. Sure, he changed the sheets and sent up a bottle of soap. But my God! And the elevator is almost certainly the worst in town. Expect a 5-10 minute wait. Just a terrible experience even for a 3-star property (oh, I paid over $300 per night).

Staff did their best, but our first room had no thermostat or way to regulate temperatures; moved to a 2nd room with a noisy a/c just a couple of feet from the bed. Elevators inadequate, frustratingly slow. The place needs to be gutted.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was so friendly and the place was spotless! You’re right in the middle of Times Square (basically) with restaurants and theaters all around. Shopping was close and convenient too

Nice little hotel, nothing fancy but great ahower snd comfy bed. Only drawback was the one elevator kept going ofline so it was slow everyone using one. But good location. Carnegie cafe was a block away, E train 2 block, Times Square close..

Room interiors need significant TLC. Lots of aging signs in rooms and elevators. Was fine for a quick 1 night stay but would not stay at this hotel again with so many other options nearby in same price range.

Booked double bed but apparently that means only single bed. Thankfully lady in the front was really nice and she helped us change it to two single beds. Otherwise they they need to redo their descriptions and clarify. Rooms are very small. Gym room needs some work tread mill needs replacing.

Great Location

This was my first stay at the Gallivant right in the center of it all. Great location. Front desk was incredible, I upgraded my room and she did inform us that the elevator was being serviced. When I got to the room, the keycard did not work. This would set the tone for the entire trip. Each and every time I tried to enter the room after the first try, the key would not work. I would have to trek back down and get a new key, from check in to check out. The room was very nice, updated, but it in certain parts of the room there was spots that were missing paint, desk drawer broken and in the closet, it appeared to be mold with lots of gnats. The bathroom was great. Shower worked and looked updated. But when I woke up, there was a flood of water from the air conditioner to the bed. The highlight of the stay was the incredible staff who did everything they could to try and make the stay great. Would I stay again, probably, just to see if I can get a room without the issues.

First night at 9/10 pm i started smelling raw sewage from the bathroom thinking if i flush the toilet & close the door it would go away i did that and left the room...only to come back with the whole room filled with sewage smell gladly i was changed from that room..then really noticed when i came back with food the rooms didn't have a microwave or refrigerator also before all this i was given the option to get a bigger room instead of being charged a early check-in fee...yet the room that i received with the smell was not even big to have a full size mattress...so if it wasn't for the stink i would have been stuck with a matchbox size room while being charged for an upgrade...this establishment did not even have the BASIC amenities like a PEN & PAD to right vacation notes on i have to beg the staff to borrow printer paper and pen while being lead to feeling guilty for asking...there were 334 rooms..yet 1 ice machine having to go up and down to get ice became burdensome..but without a refrigerator in the room it gad to be done...i was told i couldn't even get a courtesy wakeup call this leads up to learn that the website for the hotel LIES...there are NO USB alarm clocks in every room...VERY misleading ...this hotel experience falls short of the city's high standards of average semi luxury hotel...the only bright spot is the cleaning staff..very helpful and welcoming July 28 thru August 1st 2025
