Where shall I begin? With a warm welcome, smiles, other worldly atmosphere, the elegance, the service, and even the quaint little rooms. I refuse at the beginning of the year 2017 to complain or mortify anyone buy my wine he is and old man idiosyncrasies. I loved it, everything. Matilda the 11th cat was an adorable precious dowager empress who charms and delighted in terrified so. I will always go back to the Algonquin. Because I left my heart in New York in the basement of the Algonquin.

We had a really pleasant stay in Algonquin hotel. Hotel staffs are really nice and helpful; room is super clean and tidy; the location is perfect and few minutes of walk to Time Square, fifth ave, etc. Surprisingly, Algonquin is quiet although it is in the central location of NYC. I would love to recommend this hotel to my friend, I will also go back to Algonquin if I visit NYC in the future.

What a beautiful hotel located close to Times Square. The staff are fabulous, and for the most part, I would say very friendly. Edwin (?) at the front desk is such a nice man. He actually remembered my parents from their previous stay. The rooms are nicely furnished. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom is tiny but that is how they were built back when this hotel was built. If you can appreciate the vintage aspects of the hotel, you will love it! There is a hotel cat named Matilda. I never saw her but my parents did. She even has her own Facebook page!

My wife and I wanted our first NYC experience to be as New York as possible. We stayed at the Algonquin and would recommend this hotel to anyone going for first time as it's right off time square and within walking distance of all types of attractions. The hotel personnel was above and beyond helpful and our room was always clean! For anyone used to huge rooms this hotel may be little smaller as it is the oldest hotel in New York but that history is seen throughout hotel and is amazing. This hotel is probably the best hotel for first time tourist seeing NYC!

This is the second time we have stayed at The Algonquin and I love this hotel. The staff, (especially Edwin at the front desk), goes out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The standard rooms are on the small side, but the beds are comfortable and the toiletries are top quality. The food in the restaurant is a bit pricey, but always good. And the wait staff does a nice job of being attentive without being annoying. Edwin at the front desk is such an asset for this hotel. He always takes the time to greet you and he remembered us from our last visit. That was a very unexpected surprise. The hotel is near so many attraction, (Time Square, Rockefeller Center, department stores),but still not in the middle of the craziness. I am looking forward to returning.

Close to everything! Walk to Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central, Bryant Park and the subway is just 2 blocks away if you want to explore the rest of the city. Outstanding staff, super helpful and friendly. Anne at the front desk got me into my room early and it was greatly appreciated after a red eye flight. Peter arranged a car to the airport, very professional service. Safe, quiet and centrally located, worth every penny.

Old fashioned hotel with updated modern rooms. Bathrooms tiny. Location terrific for walking to theatre. While there is "free" coffee and tea in the morining, it is not at all attractively situated ( in the bar), nor user friendly. Skip this and walk across the street to a great little coffee shop.

I am normally a very hard evaluator but this hotel exceeded my expectations. It is close to everyting but a block off any main attery which means it was quiter than most hotels. The first night the room was too hot because the AC wasn't working right. However, after informing the front desk they immediately upgraded me to a wonderful suite and apologized all over themselves. The staff was incredible and extremely accomodating. Add to this their adopted mascot, Matilda, and you have a recipe for a perfect visit to New York City!

It was a great stay. Everything was perfect. The staff was very helpful and added to the pleasantness of our stay. Kevin, The Top Bellman, was most helpful. He could not be more helpful to insure the success of our visit. The location of the hotel puts the guest close to the theater, restaurants, etc. Much is within walking distance.

Old and historic but impeccably maintained, with understated but beautiful design, perfectly located, and a great staff.

great location and atmosphere. have stayed a number of times. suites are roomy.

We loved the hotel. From it's storied past to it's cool decor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet and well decorated. I just wished there was a coffeemaker in it. Also, if a view is important, make sure to specify. We faced another building but I didn't mind as we had no street noise at all. The Blue Bar was great with a cool atmosphere, good food and great service. Get a cocktail in the lobby and try the bar popcorn. Soooo yummy.

hotel was great as was the Blue Bar but a couple of cocktails later and it was $300

We loved the staff, very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is really good. Blue Bar is great. Our room was small, very clean, and comfortable. The bed was a little soft for my girlfriend. We enjoyed walking to and from Grand Central Station, Chelsea, and the Upper East Side. Catching a cab in front of hotel is super fast and easy. We had fun walking to Birdland for some outstanding jazz and drinks. We will definitely return to the Algonquin next time we visit NYC.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Algonquin in midtown NYC and had an incredible time! Beautiful historic hotel, but the staff is what makes it great! Everyone is so nice and friendly you almost make friends by the end of your stay! Pricey, but worth it!

The Algonquin Hotel made our trip a wonderful experience! The history and class of this place are second to none. Location is great, we walked to a Broadway Musical, jazz club, Time Square and several great restaurants! The best part of the Algonquin was the way the staff treated us! Doomy and Patrick were hosts that welcomed us "home" to the Lounge each night! They remembered our names and treated us like special guests! Thank you!

This hotel has a 4-star rating, but the room was one-two stars. There was peeling paint and damp mould above the window. The carpet was torn and worn. The toilet-paper holder was broken. None of these things occurred overnight. This is quite disgusting for a hotel that markets itself as being classy.

The room was very nice and the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Evocative of a period in NYC history that exuded elegance and class. Loved the comfort of the lobby, and the feeling of history.

Although the room was small we have no complaints and will return. Everything was within walking distance. Perfect location.
