Great value, location and staff. Cat lovers will enjoy the hotel cat.

Good location. Air conditioning was too much at times.

Excellent location in midtown, VERY SUPER EXPENSIVE, no room service, small rooms, old fashioned, but not "old" in the crurmbly sense, clean, no early morning coffee or breakfast service if you have an early flight out, quiet, nice TV but iffy channel choice if you have to stay in, overall can recommend it if you can afford it. Also, if they ask you if you need a cab to the airport, and you say yes, tell them you mean a taxi, NOT A LIMOUSINE.

The history and vibe of the place is like no other.

GORGEOUS! The hotel is so beautiful and charming. The rooms are much larger than many others in NYC. The staff is wonderful and kind and we loved meeting Hamlet the cat! Can't wait to go back.

Room too cold one day, too hot the next. Front desk notified and sent someone to correct the problem each time. The person was very responsive to our needs.

Great hotel and staff- was a little taken aback when we called though to say that we might not make it by midnight to check in and the woman replied “sweetie, this is New York City of course we are open 24/7” - it specifically says on the confirmation that there is no checkin after midnight. Might want to take that off of the orbitz site disclaimer. There was also an aggressive bartender in the Blue Bar that seemed to be at odds with all the other servers and that was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that staff was great, room was comfortable and the whole stay was enjoyable.

I've always wanted to stay there for its glamorous literary history, decor, and The Algonquin Cat. "Hamlet," the cat, did not disappoint. He was as charming and attentive as the rest of the staff. Step into the lobby and you step into history. Enter your room and you discover a tasteful balance of historic restoration and modern chic furniture and fixtures. I just loved every bit of it. I was thrilled to overlook 44th street where I could see straight into fashion designers' work spaces. Who needed a television? But they have a nice one. Housekeeping kept everything perfect and the replenished bottles of complimentary water was very much appreciated. I had a full weekend planned and I was able to get to all my destinations effortlessly. There is a well-appointed Duane Reade by Walgreens just around the corner, so you can pick up anything you might need to make you feel even more at home. In my next life, I want to be the Algonquin Cat!

Although we have eaten at the Algonquin we just had our first stay there. It was a nice location to theaters and other sites. We loved our room assignment overlooking the front of the hotel and it was set up nicely to say the least. We did have trouble with our shower leaking through the door onto bathroom floor but that was a slight inconvenience (and needed us to use all our towels!) The food at the bar & hotel dining room is exquisite with great service. My only thought for improvement is more staff on site in the lobby/restaurant and room service would be nice too (perhaps there was but we did not see any indication of that). We will definitely stay there again and channel our Robert Benchley & Dorothy Parker.

If you want a taste of old New York this hotel is for you! Rooms are small but well appointed. Wonderful staff. Location location location!

Good location, nicely furnished room. Ask for a room near the rear to avoid street noise late at night

Hotel is a beautiful example of the classy days in New York The lobby and the Blue Bar are a great experience with a upscale, warm , decorative architecture. The lobby staff was friendly and even got us into our room a little early. The only problem with older hotels is the small room size

Welcoming front desk. Beautiful, historic hotel convenient to everything.

Where shall I begin? With a warm welcome, smiles, other worldly atmosphere, the elegance, the service, and even the quaint little rooms. I refuse at the beginning of the year 2017 to complain or mortify anyone buy my wine he is and old man idiosyncrasies. I loved it, everything. Matilda the 11th cat was an adorable precious dowager empress who charms and delighted in terrified so. I will always go back to the Algonquin. Because I left my heart in New York in the basement of the Algonquin.

We had a really pleasant stay in Algonquin hotel. Hotel staffs are really nice and helpful; room is super clean and tidy; the location is perfect and few minutes of walk to Time Square, fifth ave, etc. Surprisingly, Algonquin is quiet although it is in the central location of NYC. I would love to recommend this hotel to my friend, I will also go back to Algonquin if I visit NYC in the future.

What a beautiful hotel located close to Times Square. The staff are fabulous, and for the most part, I would say very friendly. Edwin (?) at the front desk is such a nice man. He actually remembered my parents from their previous stay. The rooms are nicely furnished. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom is tiny but that is how they were built back when this hotel was built. If you can appreciate the vintage aspects of the hotel, you will love it! There is a hotel cat named Matilda. I never saw her but my parents did. She even has her own Facebook page!
