Honestly, this is my preferred hotel when visiting NYC. It is in a great location with respect to shopping, transport and sightseeing. The staff are first rate and always willing to do their best for guests. The only problem I had was that although I had in the past sent packages to the hotel to be collected upon my arrival and had not been charged, they now charge $10 per package. I had things delivered that did not cost $10 and although when ordered were a bargain ended up being much more expensive then if I had waited and shopped for them in the city or in NJ. I view this as another incurred cost that is not really necessary. Yes I know ....I will no longer be sending packages.

The property is in a good location near Penn Station if you want to get around NYC easily. However it is loud and busy. If you prefer quiet, it is not here. Rooms are nice in that they are bigger than most in NYC, but tired. Windows were dirty, bathroom was not sparkling clean, no soap for the tub, certainly not 4-5 stars. Staff was pleasant. Be aware that you will pay $35 fee for things that are normally included in a Hotel rate- business center, fitness center, and 20% off food in the restaurant. They should just include the fee in the rate and not pretend you are getting something special.

Upgraded to a suite with a view up Broadway. Pleasant staff. Easy to get to our train at Penn Station in the morning.

Great location! Staff not very friendly. Rooms kind of outdated.

We loved that we were close to penn station and in the center of it all. Room wasn’t as clean as we like but the room was very nice with 2 bathrooms, living room & a kitchen. They didn’t have any bottles of water in our room. We were on the 27 th floor with no nice view. The street noise was so loud but on last day, we noticed the top part of our windows were open! No wonder it was so loud. The hotel bar was great and the food mediocre.

The one main complaint I have is the sheets were like sandpaper. Every time I had to get into bed and pull them back I cringed. They definitely need to use some fabric softener or something.

Nicely located close to Penn Station. Quite quiet for NYC.

The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is aging, but classy. It's conveniently located, but busy. Unfortunately, the longer I stayed the more I noticed how dirty, dingy, and rundown it was. The edges of the carpet where the vacuum doesn't reach are grey with dust. There might have been mold spots on the ceiling. There was a green M&M visible next to my night stand from a previous guest. It was still there when I checked out a few days later.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is quite stunning if not overly functional. Guest floors are dingey and in need of renovation. Housekeeping is not particularly attentive apparently: an obviously unwashed, used glass was in my sink upon arrival. Bed linens were worn with several tears in the sheets and douvet. The desk chair was broken and unusable. The room itself looked none too clean with stains on the walls, furniture, wardrobe and furnishings. I developed a rash of some sort after handling the TV remote. The bed was very comfortable at least. The room itself was quite small and the bathroom almost impossible to use for someone over six feet in height, but this is to be expected in older, New York hotels. Street noise is a problem as the windows are also used as the ventilator for the heater, again, not uncommon in older New York hotels. The Stewart could be an absolute gem if they would give the place a top-to-bottom restoration and enstilled the same sense of pride in their housekeeping and maintenance staff as they do their front desk personnel.

The location is great , the hotel is a dirty. Never again

The rooms large for the price, especially in NYC. Otherwise the window air conditioner and drafty windows let in all the street noise. Also, cracked tiles and moldy grout in the shower were a let down. Good water pressure though!

We were impressed with how spacious the room was. Not expecting it to include a small kitchen! However, the window did not have a proper seal, so night air and night-time soundscape from Madison Square Gardens, sirens, and 7th Ave were our unexpected “roommates” in the wee hours of St. Paddy’s Day.
