Easy to check in. Nice employees.

The only redeeming factor about this hotel is its location. As visitors to NYC, we were centrally located to most of our activities, transportation, etc. That said, everything else was disappointing. The room was incredibly outdated. The bathroom, and, more importantly, the SHOWER, was laughably small. Anytime we called for towels, body wash, etc., it took 3 attempts before anyone came. Don't book here - not worth it.

Rooms seem run down. No real amenities. Staff rude and short. Hotel is next to fire station. Windows not sound proof. Mostly curtains and old window unit.

Located across the street from Penn Station. Great place to stay if you are going to Madison Square Garden. Not central to Times Square.

Property was centrally located. Rooms were a little dated and outside noise was pretty loud. Air conditioning was pretty non functional, asked to have it looked at and they said it was fine, room stayed at 75-80 degrees most of the time.

Great location across from NY Penn station allowed for easy travel to and from airport with no taxi needed. Less than a mile from Time Square and Central Park, I would definitely stay here again. Great price on room and the noise level was just right (a few honks and sirens from the streets below but nothing crazy)

Great location, historic building, nice lobby; didn;t like that the hallways were poorly lit on every floor

Housekeeping and front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was large and clean (with the exception of a big stain on the rug that should have been removed before opening the room to guests). It's a beautiful old hotel and has been renovated perfectly from an aesthetic perspective, but still has some of the issues that come with old hotels such as peeling paint around the windows, window ACs, and inadequate sound-proofing. There was some late jack-hammering one night that was loud, but otherwise it had the expected noise level one would find outside the largest train station in the US, as well as Madison Square Garden. If you're looking for bucolic, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for a central location in a quintessential early 20th-century property, this fits the bill. We had a large suite with brand new kitchen facilities (could've used some paper towels and dish soap) that easily slept 3 adults. I will absolutely go back.

Our room was spacious and very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a very nice stay and got a complementary upgrade.

Good location near a lot of stuff

Great gym, and location. The rooms were fairly clean. Although there were some dirty cups in our friend's room.

Great location.

There was Nothing I liked about this place. The room were dirty and there were roaches in the rooms

Very old establishment, prime location in front of the Madison square garden

I have stayed here every December since before the hotel turned from Affinia to Stewart. The rooms have declined are dirty and dangerous with black mold. After asking for another room we were told maybe tomorrow so we would have to sleep in black mold room. Finally after demanding money back we were shown another room just as gross. We will never return to this hotel

I absolutely love this place, I am planning on coming back! The women at the front desk were so helpful and the other staff were always friendly and accommodating. I would recommend it to anyone who goes to the city to visit.
