This hotel has tickets on itself like no where else I’ve ever stayed. The staff were too busy trying to look cool to provide any real customer service. Upon checking in we were just told our room number and handed a card, no details provided re check out time, any of the hotel facilities and certainly no info about the additional $150 ‘all access fee’ that we required to pay - for a three night stay! This was a little unexpected extra that we were hit with when we checked out and it wasn’t detailed anywhere on my booking confirmation. The room wasn’t very well sound proofed and we could hear the thud of the music from the bar all night - thank God for ear plugs. I wouldn’t stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend it either.

The hotel itself is wonderful amazing decor, lovely bars, and very photo worthy. The service could be better. While the staff is younger, they lack the level of professionalism you’d expect from a four star hotel. The hotel is practically a ghost town before 7 am and sometimes a simple good morning will be welcomed as opposed to a “FYI we aren’t open yet”. Not really the best way to start a day, but it is NYC in the winter so I somewhat understand. The check in process was quick and easy, however I wish more was explained upon check in. The room itself was cozy and basic. Enough compartments to store your stuff and the complementary umbrella came in useful on the rainy day I was there. However the biggest problem I had in my room was on the morning of my check out when I got up to shower and realized there was no hot water. So given my early commute it didn’t make sense to call the front desk because I had to check out anyway. When I reached downstairs that morning, there was nobody at the desk and I just checked out on the kiosk and went my way. While I was excited to visit Public I was underwhelmed by the experience it provided. While they say luxury for all, it seems that it is luxury based on what you desire. If you are into partying and a nightlife, this is for you. If you are on business and need a place to rest, you can get a lot more for less in that regard in the city. In short: Lovely hotel to visit, not so much stay.
