This lil’ old hotel is fabulous if you want comfort & safety while staying close to Times Square, less than a block! Rooms are quiet despite the noisy outside and you’ll find both a coffee shop & an Irish pub next door! Staff is very friendly & helpful and after staying at this hotel twice, I’ll make sure my third visit will be at Hotel St James as well.

The hotel is modest and comfortable. Location is good. Three blocks from the 7th ave/ 42nd st subway stop. January and February are good rates. We will probably be back.

Stayed for 2 nights last week. Staff was very friendly and waived the early check-in fee. Room was clean and quiet. Great location close to Times Square. Hot water took a few minutes to get hot on the 9th floor, but overall a very pleasant stay.

The room was nicely decorated and bigger than most rooms we have stayed in NYC. The location was prime and central to all the places we wanted to go. It was safe and the staff was very friendly! I am definitely going back again!

A lovely little building with character and old fashion charm. However, limited amenities like no fridge or microwave in room were a negative, as well as minor wear and tear in the room looks to have gone unaddressed for sometime. Perfectly happy with this visit, don't know that I'd return though.

This hotel is exceptionally convenient if one is interested in seeing shows on Broadway. Location is close to Times Square, it is clean, staff are quite friendly and helpful, and the price is reasonable for New York. It was our second stay there and we were not disappointed either time.
