Rooms are nicer than the lobby lead us to believe, but it is a small, cute, historic style hotel. Not many amenities and is pretty basic. Noise level HIGH from other guests, you can hear door slams, people talking, etc. Cleanliness good, charm is definitely there.

The location was great. Their website should say there are no food options at the hotel or fridges in the room but you can get bfast and many other food options next door at Cook’s. There also is no counter space for your health and beauty items in the bathroom.

Overall a great place to stay. Clean. Good staff. Lots of nearby food options - ate at Cook Eatery the most, especially for breakfast. Good Midtown location near Times Square.

The place is convenient and walkable to the attractions. But the heater in the room was making very loud noise almost every two hours and kept waking us up. We told the staff in the morning and we came back at night the staff said they fixed already but the noise still came back the same.

Love this friendly, exceptionally clean hotel! The rooms/ baths have been upgraded, although no shelf/vanity area in the bath. Comfy beds. The only thing this hotel is missing is basic amenities such as an ice machine and at least a vending machine with water/soda. No heat or cooling control in the room. Love the location and cleanliness!

This hotel is in a perfect location. So close to Times Square, theatres and the subway. The hotel is very bare bones, no bar, no restaurant, no refrigerator or microwave. However, it was spotless and has several eateries just doors away. The staff was amazing, very accommodating and helpful and allowed us a late check out. This was my second stay and I would stay again

The hotel is a classic, older hotel that is very well maintained and kept very clean. The room was large (for a Manhattan hotel room) and was comfortable and clean. There are very few amenities in the room (no fridge or coffee maker) but o my steps from the hotel are coffee shops, delis, and restaurants. I had medication to be refrigerated and the staff provided me with ice and a container for my room. The staff was great and the location can’t be beat! I highly recommend this hotel!!!

The Hotel St. James was awesome and very reasonable for our 3 night stay! It's right around the corner from the subway in Times Square. The room was very clean and spacious for 2. There are NO amenities (self-serve ice machine in lobby) but that's OK because you can get coffee right across the street and check out Conolly's Pub (very good) just a few doors down along with a convenient store right there as well. The Hotel St. James is an older hotel with character. Definitely recommend and will book my next stay here!

The room was clean and the hotel is a great location BUT the picture Expedia posted is not what we stayed in! The room had a radiator that made noise and the shower pressure would go from ok to not working at all. The temperature of the shower was lukewarm. After a cold day outside you want a HOT shower. Talked to desk on day two no one came to check it so had a second cool shower then finally came after complained a second time just in time for us to check out. Beds were ok. Staff was friendly. I paid $25 to check in early and ended with a corner room no real windows to see out and shower issues. But it was clean! We were on the 12th floor. Elevators are old and take forever. This is an older hotel but in a convenient location. But Expedia do better tbis is not what you advertised!
