on arirval the place looked dirty and run down went inside no better place was cold smell of foust damp the rooms just the same no windows to look out glass was frosted power cuts cold water staff were very freindly and sympathic lift out order due to faulty electric no toasters working coffee cold beer pumps on display but had no beer just bottles this place is just like a run down hostel avoid
For a city centre hotel it was very reasonably priced. It was close to Lime Street station, but I couldn't hear the trains. The room was clean and comfortable. I had a single, but there was more than adequate space for me. The TV was large, but being on a side wall and the only place to sit being the bed, it was a bit close and uncomfortable to watch. The en-suite bathroom was perfectly fine, though being on the 3rd floor, the shower was pretty weak. No toiletries in the shower but that is what I would expect from a budget hotel. Be warned that if you are on the 3rd floor then the lift doesn't go all the way there, it stops at level 2 and you have to use stairs for the last flight. The potential noise comes from the O2 Academy venue which is right next door. My room must have been very close to it as shortly after arrival I could hear what I assume was the band sound checking. Fortunately it was quiet by the time I arrived back from a night out. The hotel staff all seemed very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a help yourself continental style buffet, but it was perfectly adequate. Oh the top corridor by my room was very cold, I guess from a draft under the emergency exit, but the room itself warmed up nicely after switching on the heater and there was a good heater in the bathroom.
Stayed at The Lord Nelson for 2 nights, I chose the hotel based on cost and location although it is a no frills hotel the rooms and communal areas are spotless clean and all the staff were very helpful and friendly, the bed was comfortable and the rooms warm and welcoming I would recommend the hotel for anyone on a budget and would definitely stay again but would take my hairdryer next time as only fault I can pick
Average in every way. Bit dated in all areas. Had to request shower gel from the reception which was strange. tv had no remote. £50 was reasonable for Friday night. Breakfast was ok and the Location is great.
The reason I give this hotel a 5 is because of the friendly way all the staff treat you from the moment you enter the building until the moment you leave," the hotel is perfect for a overnight stay wether you are in the city for a show or shopping or like us for a stop over for the football". Now I'm not saying that it's opulent or it has ,any fancy decor or themes , but what it does have is clean rooms and a nice comfortable lounge ,we have stayed here a few times and the amount of guest's that you see again and again goes to show the draw to this hotel. The price is very reasonable and you get a continental breakfast in with the price, getting back to the main reason I recommend a stay here is the staff.from Lynn, Ryan Daniel, Ian , and the boss Tommy, to all the houskeeping girls both upstairs and down ,they are all fantastic, with that great scouse sense of humour I can not finish without a big shout out to the Lord Nelson's new night manager Albie, this man has the patience of a saint and goes the extra mile, to make your evening so great thanks Albie Hope to see you again very soon !!
Good Hotel cheap clean in the middle of city. Thanks to night porter Albie he does a great job. Don't expect 4 stars. If you just need a night or two go for this Hotel. Hotel needs a little updating. Gareth.
Clean, no frills accommodation next to Lime Street station and behind the Empire. We parked at the Liner Hotel for £14 so factor that extra cost in when booking. Basic breakfast, I would probably go to the Wetherspoons next door if I stayed again.
My friend and I stayed here in 2 single rooms, we thought it was great value for money, breakfast was a good standard with no restrictions if you wanted more. All the staff were lovely - Big bonus! Planning on staying again next year as great location and allowed us to store cases and wait in their lounge later on in the day instead of in the train station. It is a budget hotel and as long as you are happy with that you will be very happy with the place, very clean bedding, towels and a great hot shower!
Stayed for two nights, room was clean, bathroom was huge. Breakfast had a choice of fruit juices, cereals, croissant and toast with cold meat, cheese, jams, plenty of tea or coffee offered. For a budget hotel we found it to be more than adequate. Round the corner from Lime Street station and very close to subway and bus station. Short walk to town. Staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again.
This is a great stay for great price. I stayed here for one night, it was very well located next to the train station. The room was clean and quiet with big flat TV and nice private bathroom. I would recommend this hotel.
