Stayed here while working close by. Couldn't fault the reception girls or the cleanliness of the room. Bar was not overly pricey. Couple of negatives..room was extremely hot even with a fan and the window open. Main down side was lack of food available on the Saturday night. We has to get a local take away delivered.not what you need after a long day at work returning to the hotel at 9pm at night

Reception staff : probably nice enough women, but goodness me, no clue how to use their check-in computer or deal with issues. Management - find your staff some training! We booked two interconnecting rooms for our family of 5...they ended up booking other guests into our rooms...we ended up with two separate rooms - one of which, in horrible teasing fashion - had the interconnecting door - just not to our other room! Don't bother dialling for reception - they don't answer. Besides that, the rooms - John T, I couldn't agree more with your review - were so hot we couldn't breathe but having the window open meant you couldn't sleep for the noise - the roads, the racing cars, the hen parties, the emergency vehicle sirens - all night! The 'double bed' just about fit myself (size 12) and my 10 year old (think rake)....The sofa bed was ....tragic! Having to make it up ourselves, we got a good look at it - I was embarrassed to put our little 8 year old to bed on it...she just about fit but had to sleep at an angle to avoid the huge gap between the flattened back part and the two fold down parts - no way could anyone bigger than an 8 year old sleep on it! . But then, sleep wasn't much on the agenda for all the noise outside and slamming doors inside. It's called a Mary and Joseph hotel because if you're desperate enough, even a stable looks good. If you do get that desperate - don't book a double - book a twin and push the beds together and try for odd numbers - maybe the noise is less on that side of the hotel?

Worse Holiday Inn Express experience I have had. Room temperature so hot it was not possible to sleep. With window open, it was still much to hot and noisy from motorway traffic. Bed too small for 2 adults and mattress sagged in middle so we rolled into middle of bed when trying to sleep. Carpet Was not nice to walk on, was not worn but certainly not clean. Daughter slept in our room on a temp bed, mattress very hard, and although it looked made, we found that the bed sheets under the quilt were not. She also complained of itching in the morning. Breakfast, standard Holiday Inn Express, included in the room rate. Certainly will not use this hotel again, though will use the chain in future as it usually is value for money especially with the breakfast..

This h.e express was close to a function we were attending. All we required was a clean, comfortable room at an affordable price. This is exactly what we got plus friendly staff and a decent breakfast to boot.

When asking anything of the staff it's as if it's too much bother to help. On the evening that we stayed the restaurant was closed so guests were ordering takeout and the bar and reception area looked more like a doss house with people sat round eating out of paper and foil containers. The room was very clean I can't fault that but the sofa bed (family room) was old, hard and lumpy and not fit for purpose. The most unacceptable thing I find is that on 2nd May I wrote to the hotel as I was displeased with my stay and have not had the courtesy of a reply which leads me to believe customer satisfaction is not high on the agenda.

My wife and I enjoyed the clean and spacious double room, staff are very helpful and friendly but...breakfast is a free for all...not enough tables and chairs..had to queue for 10 minutes to get one...then had to wait for it to be cleaned off...then had to queue again for breakfast itself...including cutlery. It is an all you can eat and that made it like eating at a trough...people just heaped food on and then you had to wait again. Serving area too small...serving utensils got too hot, one child in front of me burnt his hand. I would stay here again but Defo not waste my time with breakfast. Basically a larger breakfast room is needed for when the hotel is full and a supervised ensuring food doesn't run out and tables cleaned quickly.

Stayed here as was close to safari park and Liverpool(although Liverpool is really close by it take ages due to volume and traffic to get into city) However was dubious after reading the review for hotel myself partner and 2 kids stayed here in a family room and found the staff helpful the room clean and adequate and free breakfast plentiful. Free sky was a bonus Don't be put off by the reviews it's great value for money. There were wedding parties over the weekend at the neighbouring suites hotel and the guests were fighting but closed the window and heard no more. Thanks for a really enjoyable stay

Me and my wife recently stayed here while visiting the area for a family funeral and it was ideal for what we needed. Our double room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We also had a free breakfast included with our price and there was a nice selection of hot and cold food which set us up well for the day and made the price even greater value. There is a bar downstairs which is open quite late in case you fancy a few beers. Overall, I was really happy with the stay. The staff were nice, the hotel was clean and you can't argue about the value for money.

My wife and myself travelled to Liverpool for her birthday to see Liverpool playing. We had accommodation organised with family, but at the last minute that was cancelled. We had to book somewhere within a month of our visit and found this hotel online. The reviews had me wondering if we had made the right choice, but once we arrived we were both instantly at ease with our choice. We had a late flight into Liverpool which meant we didn't get to the hotel until after 10pm. This was no problem to the staff, it seemed normal to them and a few more guests arrived after us too. Our room, 302, was well appointed and modern. Slight picky to say the shower was a little odd though holding water temps, but neither of us cared as it never got cold. We went back down to the bar for a nightcap and met 2 beautiful people, night staff Julie & Tommy. What was initially one drink turned into many with both fantastic staff members. The hotel should be so proud of both of them. Breakfast was also very good, we had no complaints. The only reason I haven't given a 5 star review is once breakfast was done there was no more food on offer. To be fair though, if we wanted to order in takeaway food there was no issue from staff. Plates & cutlery were provided too. We loved our stay and will definitely use the hotel when we visit again.

This is my second stay here and the only reason I stay in this hotel that it is close to the nearby Knowsley Business/Industrial Park. It's one of those hotel you just go in, have a nights sleep and get out. Very dated hotel definitely in need of updating. Restaurant is doable with very limited food choices. Other guests bring in takeaway from outside and eat in the restaurant using the provided plates and cutlery. Bedroom is dated as per other reviews. Staff on reception in my experience are ok but what can they do working in a workplace that resemble something out of the late 80's or 90's. I will be back here because there is no other choice that is close to where I want to go. I have heard a refurb happening in 2017, I really hope so!
