Basecamp South Lake Tahoe

Don't let the rustic outside fool you. This is a quiet and comfortable hotel. Next to the casinos and Heavenly Valley ski area.

I enjoyed my stay at Basecamp. The location was convenient and the room was cozy and clean. Only downfall is that I was able to hear the neighbors above me when they walked, luckily I had somewhat quiet neighbors. The free continental breakfast leaves much to be desired but overall I was pleased w/my stay.

You definitely get the camping feeling without having to sleep outside in the cold. They have camp fires where you can roast marshmallows and make smores. They have a hot tub where you can relax. They have a great selection of beer. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. Though they were out of shampoo. They have live music pretty much everyday as well as a good free breakfast in the morning.

Skiers hotel! Walking distance to the Heavenly Gondola. Great hot tub, beer garden with live music.

Breakfast could have been better. Need more options other than waffles, cereal and toast. I don't mind paying for extras, but they were out breakfast sandwiches which really sold me on the place on our first visit. Also, parking was almost impossible We got the last spot I don't know what people who got there later than us did. The last thing you wanted to worry about after wrestling with Tahoe traffic for 6 hours is to worry about where to park and have to walk a great distance with big bags.

terrific concept, great touches like the ice chest ice holders and great food and atmosphere in the beer garden. I would return.

Really funky, cool boutique style hotel. It almost had the vibe of a cool European Hostel but with all the convenience of American hotels! Breakfast was simple but nicely presented. Overall, I would highly recommend

Very nice and clean hotel, can get a little loud at night

Very good hotel. It's nice and clean. Friendly staff.

The accommodations are great but the hotel is very loud. The family room beds speak so loud that you can't sleep.

We were two single women here to enjoy the fall colors of Lake Tahoe and enjoy some outdoor activities. We chose this place for the central location and what we thought was going to be a nice place to stay. We were disappointed to find a motel 6 (before the chain was renovated). The stairs leading up to our 3rd floor room had very old torn carpet and smelled horrible (we were told the smell was due to raccoons). Our room's ceiling fan had a chopping noise so we could not leave it on while we slept and the floor creaked loudly (so glad we stayed on the 3rd floor!). Now for what we did like… Very nice and helpful staff. The jacuzzi, free wifi and covered parking was a plus! My bed was comfy and decent pillows. The complimentary breakfast consisted of make your own waffles, oatmeal, cereal, toast, coffee and tea. Overall, I think it was overpriced. I don't think we'll be back.

Our stay was more than expected , clean & trendy we loved our stay , will bring our family on our next trip.

Firstly, I like how this hotel appeared to be geared for young adults and people who expect a base camp experience. The room I stayed at was very small, European motel type of space. There was no AC (and I went during hot season), no hangers for your clothes, TV quality was poor and no cable channels, and the wireless connection was poor. Breakfast was very plain( no big deal for me). They had a waffle maker there was waffle but there was no meat, no eggs provided. Lastly, the was very disappointed with a particular front desk staff who assisted me(PM staff, not the blonde young lady but the dark haired one). She was on her phone most of the time and appeared to be annoyed when I asked for ice. She was consistent on those two nights I was there. For the amount of money they charge people to stay here, I say it is OVER priced. I am sure their business is doing well. Young people won't mind but they should be fair to their customers and have at least a better quality TV, wireless connection, and hangers on their open closet. I will not recommend this place to my friends.

Wonderful stay. Fabulous decorating done to carry out the theme. Will return. Truly a 5 for this hotel !!

Pros- Unique, fun decor, variety of room types, friendly staff, basic breakfast, many spaces to meet up with friends outside of the rooms, walking distance to the beach and many restaurants/nightlife Cons - No air conditioning in our rooms, our first room had a dirty, wet stain on the carpet and we could not be moved because the hotel was fully booked (they did compensate us but we still had to stay the first night in that room)

Kids loved bunk beds. Breakfast could have been better. But overall it was good experience.

Rooms were very clean, well decorated, and comfortable. Also very pet friendly so our two pups also had a great stay.

Great location near heavenly ski village and the gondola. Delicious continental breakfast every morning with fresh pastries, oatmeal, yogurt and berries. $2 pbr all day and half off drafts during happy hour. Amazing value and highly recommended. We would definitely stay here again.

great location room very nice and very clean staff very freindly

Nice atmosphere, great value, comfy beds, nicely decorated rooms. A must for young couples in lake Tahoe!
