Sheraton Jacksonville Hotel3.5 out of 5.0

Very nice staff very friendly and helpful and courteous. The building seemed older but well taken care of. I had gotten a last minute discount rate because other wise I couldn't afford this nice of a place. Everything worked out fine .when we needed extra towels they brought them up to our room. It was very quiet even though it was full and lots of families with kids. The room was a little small but it was ok just me and my husband ..it was clean the bed was a little too soft and the middle sunk in some it was a king size .loved the towels .they did need more channels on the tv it was cold and rainy so we wanted to stay in not many channels. The sink drained very slowly and the hair drier was full of hair... I would give this place 3.5 stars out of 5 there was no free breakfast or anything other than water
From the time we booked with Abbey to making sure we had the right kind of handicap room for my wife, to help at the club lounge with Candy, and special assistance from the outstanding chef Eric, and so many others (e.g. Sue, Chief of Food and Beverage; Caylee frt desk), what struck my wife and me was the ATTITUDE of HELPING on EVERY occasion. They were patient and helpful when we had to change rooms, and when the Club lounge was suddenly unavailable due to circumstances they could not control, the entire staff pitched in cheerfully and made sure SPG guests were taken care of immediately. Quiet rooms, very clean, easy parking, close to about everything one could need for dining or entertainment just off 295, and good value for money OR for using SPG points. Had a really nice indoor pool and workout facility that we wish we'd planned for. Would return any time we're coming to Jacksonville. Only issue we had was room on 5th floor next to elevator that couldn't get Wifi. Changed rooms and there was no problem.
I was looking forward to checking out this Hotel. I travel to Jacksonville regularly for business and like the location. After a long day of travel and work, I was greeted at check-in with a notice that the hotel had oversold. This was presented as a form letter with mapquest directions to a Four Points property five miles away. The whole thing was somehow embarrassing. The way it was communicated indicated to me that it may happen regularly. They did pick up the cost of the room, but that’s not the point. I like and expect consistent service and reliable booking, particularly for business travel. I’ll have a hard time trying them again at this point.
I have to start by saying that I spend over 100 nights a year at Marriott properties. I was very excited when Marriott and Starwood merged and have been trying different Starwood properties here and there. I was going to be in Jacksonville and so I thought I would try out a Sheraton since I have never stayed at a Sheraton. I was going to be getting in very late (after midnight) so I called the hotel early in the day and let them know that I was going to get in late and explained that late Platinums usually get the "leftovers," so could they please understand that I was going to be there...but just late. I had two request...an upgrade if possible (but, I know that is based upon availability) and a room on a high floor. They said they would check me in and I said great. When I arrived at 1:30 am, I didn't have an upgrade (I understand, it was based on availability and they said they were full...even though the parking lot was less than half full and I only saw a few other people the next day) AND I was on the 3rd floor...that I didn't understand. Plus, if I hadn't told the guy that was checking me in that I was a Platinum, I don't think he would have known or said anything. He did not explain anything about Platinum benefits so I still have no idea what they do for Platinums...again, probably my fault, but I spend most of my nights at Marriotts. He didn't know that I had never stayed at a Sheraton so he probably figured I knew the system. I asked about breakfast and he gave me a card that was for a free breakfast on the weekend...even though it was a Wednesday. The next morning, housekeeping woke me up at 7:45 am knocking on my door to clean my room. Again, my fault that I didn't put out my "do not disturb" sign, but because of meetings my alarm was set for 8:30 am and I never dreamed they would show up before 8:30 am....much less 7:45 am. That extra 45 minutes sleep would have been nice. When I went to breakfast I finally found a room that I assume is kind of like a concierge lounge at a Marriott...and found that it had breakfast. But, the food was so cold (seems they forgot to light the warmers) that it was not edible. I personally don't like cold eggs or bacon. So...I decided to see if the free breakfast card he gave me the night before would work. I sat in the restaurant for about 10 minutes working on my computer waiting on anyone from the waitstaff to greet me. Never happened. Finally two guys sat at another table and got up and headed into another room and came back with food and it was at that point I figured out that it was a buffet breakfast. So...I helped myself. Someone did finally talk to me and took my card for the free breakfast. One of the reasons I stay faithful to Marriott is when I check in I am usually greeted by name and welcomed and it feels nice after a long day of travel to go someplace that they at least act like they were expecting you and are glad that you are there. My whole stay here I felt completely ignored and like they had no idea that I was even coming (even though I called them) and really didn't care if I was there....which in reality...they probably didn't. The hotel itself was nice. But a good hotel is about more than just the building and the rooms.
Loved our stay at the Sheraton. As an SPG loyalty member, I was recognized and appreciated! I was given an upgrade to the best available room which was a suite with club level access. I love SPG! Clean comfortable safe hotel close to the best restaurants in town. Small hotel with great big service quality and value. Thank you!!!!
We evacuated South Florida in September, 2017 for Hurricane Irma. We found a room at the Sheraton Jacksonville and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The entire staff, including those at the front desk, the restaurant, those in maintenance and cleaning, plus all the Management personnel were phenomenal! We would highly recommend this hotel to friends, family, or business clients. If we are ever in the area again we will absolutely stay at this Sheraton once again. In fact, we may need to make a special trip to Jacksonville to explore the city and get pampered once again. Specifically, we would like to thank Brad Whitaker, the General Manager of the hotel, for being so accommodating, for paying special attention to our needs, and once again, making this an unbelievably pleasant stay. Thank you to all and we will be back!
Good hotel for business trips. The suite they gave me as SPG Platinum member was pretty nice. Fast room service, confortable bed and a good desk to work, that's all I need in my business trips and this one has it all.
Excellent hotel: It could/should be the benchmark for all Sheraton‘s. I have stayed here on several occasions over the last few years. The staff is always pleasant and well-trained, the food fresh and well prepared, and the rooms are clean and spacious, with towels and linens that always appear to be brand new. The location is ideal. It’s less than a five minute drive to some of the best shopping and dining in the city; the beach less than 15 minutes away by car.
I stayed here for 2nights and it was very pleasant stay. Room was clean & cozy, staffs were very friendly. Breakfast was complimentary but the quality was awesome. I was able to go shopping in Town Center, which was only 5min away from the hotel. The only downside of the stay was the construction site right across the street. But it was minor issue. Would like to go back there for sure.
The room was nice and clean and very well appointed. The "included" breakfast was somewhat of let down offering the same previously frozen fare of other chain hotels. I might stay here again although I will not eat here again.
