I stayed here for a work event recently and can only really describe it as average. My room was very large as I was given a disabled friendly room which was fine. The hotel has a no bleaching policy which means the towels and bedding don't really look completely white and clean but they seemed to smell ok. The bathroom was a little grubby though, with mouldy sealant around the shower area and quite bad limescale marks on the tiles. I also booked this hotel as it was advertised as having a gym but I'm not convinced it actually is a gym, more like a fitness room. I think this is a problem across the Mercure brand in general though as I have seen even worse than this in one of their other hotels in what was described as a health club. Another negative is that they charge you £5 for parking and only tell you on check in. There is no way of enforcing this though as the reception staff didn't want my registration number and told me there are no cameras to check. I think this is a bit cheeky. On the plus side, the food at breakfast and in the restaurant at dinner was very good, although quite pricey.

A very nice hotel, plenty of parking and public space. There was no preferential treatment for us as loyalty card holding guests (there should have been). The staff are friendly and helpful and the bedroom was large, comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast were both enjoyabe meals. We would stay here again.

Excellent comfortable Hotel. The rooms were spacious and well fitted out, the bed was super comfortable. Staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The only criticism is that signposting from the M6 slip and roundabout is bad. It took us 30 mins trying to find the hotel and resorted to directions on my mobile.

Could not fault this hotel at all. Every member of staff were amazing and looked after us so well especially Kathy and Steph. The bedrooms were gorgeous the food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for anyone if we needed help. Cant wait to visit the hotel again for our wedding anniversary

I can't say enough how grateful I am to the hotel and it's staff, our daughter's wedding was amazing from start to finish. Nothing was to much and everyone is so friendly. Special mention to Kathy the wedding coordinator and Michelle the master of ceremonies. I highly recommend this hotel for weddings and functions, my family travelled from Ireland and also loved it. Thanks guys

Disgusted with this hotel. I am attending a function at the hotel tonight so I booked a room months ago so I didn't need to worry about driving or getting a taxi home on my own This morning, the day of the booking, I got an email (not even the courtesy of a phone call) to say my booking had been moved to another hotel. One that anyone with any sense can see is only 5 mins from my home address so whats the point. When I called to query all I got from the advisor was nothing we can do it is head office fault. TERRIBLE customer service! Now I will either have to drive there and back or find a relative to pick me up as I am certainly not getting a taxi on my own as a single female when I have had a drink. If I could rate a zero I would If I could give zero stars I would.

We booked a table for lunch last minute to take a colleague who is leaving the company for a last gathering with us all. We were met as we arrived by a member of staff who introduced herself as Kath and she showed us to our reserved table and ensured we all had menu's and that someone would look after us for our drinks and food orders. It was a very nice welcome to the hotel. The food and the service we received was also very good and all in all a very pleasant occasion. We will certainly use the hotel again and happy to recommend it to others.

We used this hotel as we had a horse running (slowly) at Haydock Races. Hotel had good car park and we booked their prestige room. Staff very helpful and room was as anticipated with the air conditioning assisting a good night sleep. One shock was that we were asked if our car would be staying in the car park park overnight. Surprisingly it would.. £5 extra please! We were walking to the course (twenty minutes) and noticed another couple taking their dog towards the hotel. On going back to reception we found dogs were allowed in the room. This was not obvious from the website but something we were happy to pay the £10 extra for as we had thought he would have to sleep in the car. Overall very happy with the stay but the £5 car park charge should just be added to the room rate in my view. In view of the dog friendly policy we will definitely go to stay there again.

Stayed here for friends wedding and had adjoining rooms for ourselves and children. Rooms were lovely, and since we were away from the courtyard were lovely and quiet too (friends facing the courtyard suffered with noise from late night revellers!). Swimming pool, steam room and sauna were a little shabby but perfectly useable and completely deserted on the Sunday - a nice way to recover from the celebrations of the night before!

Well a first for me, nice hotel nice surrounding but being told it was £5.00 for parking your car was a bit to much, but hold on there's a special offer that she can offer you at reception, fill out a club accor card with phone number and e-mail and it's free ! The funny thing is you should tell them you have no car as they don't ask for vehicle registration number at check-in anyhow.
