The smell and filthiness of this property almost made my wife sick - literally. We bought 3 air fresheners for the room, it still wasn't enough. This place should be torn down, seriously. It's the absolute worse. Period.
Upon coming for my stay I had a few questions that I needed answers to as well as having to make an adjustment to my stay. I called and the woman who answered the phone by the name of Cecelia was extremely helpful she answered all my questions and help make the adjustment to my stay. She did a wonderful job and was very polite.
Arrived at 4:00 pm yesterday, after making a reservation in May. Janet was awesome. She checked us in efficiently and told us about the amenities. She could not have been nicer! While we were checking in a group of about 15 people arrived all of whom were loud and disrespectful. Her co-worker was working with a younger couple who were upset when they couldn't pay cash for their room. Janet kept her cool and directed us to our room. When we got to the room the door was wide open. Once inside, there were no linens on the bed and the bathroom was filthy. We immediately returned to the front desk and told Janet we weren't going to stay. Due to the crowd in the lobby she couldn't process our refund immediately but would call us later that day. She called and apologized for not being able to take care of us and assured me that she would get the refund processed. I called today and she told me it was taken care of. Again, she apologized for the inconvenience. I indicated that I could not deal the way she did and she said I have to do it all the time. She is a saint. As for the other reviews we read prior to booking, not sure who wrote them but..... Don't believe a word of them.
We stayed at this hotel and it was in a great location to where we needed to be in Alexandria, VA. The cost was reasonable and the staff was helpful and the rooms and lobby was clean. This location is near the MGM at the harbor and close to downtown DC.
We had a conference at the Gaylord and really didn't want to pay the $200+ a night for a hotel, so we chose this hotel. It was in our budget and was only a few minutes from the Gaylord. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you and pick you up from the Gaylord, but there are only certain times for this. Not to worry, we took Uber a few times that the shuttle was not running and that seemed to work for us. The lady shuttle driver was awesome by the way, real cool. She drives at night. They guy shuttle driver in the morning actually took us to the Gaylord after their scheduled time because we were confused on the schedule. Shuttle does not go to the airport though. Hotel staff was very nice and always helpful. We were granted an early check in as we had an early flight. We arrived around 10:00 am and we were told we could check a room that was ready to see if we wanted it. We checked and it was ok, but the sheets were not clean, so they had housekeeping come and re-do the bed with fresh sheets. Now, the hotel itself is not new and you can see some wear and tear, but it served it's purpose for us and was clean. There were a few "questionable" people staying there, but everyone was friendly. However, one night when we arrived from our conference, there were police outside and in the lobby. We didn't question it, we just quickly went to our room (we didn't even wanna know). Typical hotel chain breakfast. Eggs, sausage patties, toast, waffles, fruit, juice, yogurt, etc. We ate breakfast every morning and the staff again was quick and friendly, always making sure to replinish whatever was needed. The breakfast room itself was kinda small, but it worked out. My only REAL complaint is our floor smelled like someone was smoking in their room and it was spilling over in the hallway. We couldn't smell it in our room, so we just left it alone. We were only there to sleep anyway. Our conference was alllllll day. If you don't want to stay at the Gaylord I'll suggest this hotel as a nearby alternate. We actually walked to the grocery store and Popeyes nearby. There are several restaurants within walking distance if you don't have a car.
My reservation was cancelled for some reason, but the staff made sure the issue was fixed. The fitness room and the morning breakfast were great additions for the price. The shuttle to the Gaylord convention center was very convenient. I had a great stay!
We were really disappointed with this Comfort Inn. The hotel smelled and it didn't seem clean. The room were really uninviting. The paint color was peach and rust. The bathroom was very small and the sink was outside the bathroom. The iron was locked unto the ironing board. I have never seen that in all of my life and I travel quite a bit. The neighborhood is sketchy. A friend of mine car was almost broken into. The only thing it had going for it was that it was close to a outside mall and there were plenty of restaurants to go to. I did not feel at ease trying to eat breakfast or using their gym.
Good experience and well all was not perfect (like the small breakfast room) but nothing bad either. Plus point was the free shuttle service to Gaylord convention center that saved us a lot of time and money (off course). Rooms were good. The only issue was the housekeeping that was irregular and was not done at all on the second-last day. A call to the reception revealed that their staff leaves at 6 pm leaving me to use the room in the same condition in the evening as it was left in the morning. Rest, the 4 nights stay went uneventful. Located in walking distance of K-mart and several other stores. Overall, can be utilized for your next stay.
We checked in a group using 24 rooms. They accused us of taking more room keys than we needed. Several rooms stunk, including smelling like cigarette smoke. Our students were given cleaning supplies and sheets to clean their own rooms. Breakfast was ok, but the milk products were not on ice. I wouldn't come back.
Upon arriving there were several people smoking right near the entrance, Lobby looked seedy, Not the usual Comfort Inns that I have stayed at for a weekend. Room needed upgrade, Carpet was old and worn. TV did not work properly it kept losing the station and then shut off. Bathroom Shower was dripping. I would not recommend this Motel/Hotel try a different one!!
