Rooms need full renovation. Old fancies in guestrooms very dirty and room given looked directly into construction site of a hotel being built next door. Good staff
Overall, the hotel is decent and is in a really good location to tour Historic Charleston. The hotel staff were friendly and the daily happy hour and breakfast were really nice. On the outside, the hotel is really quite interesting and impressive. The bad part of the hotel was the servicing of our room. We stayed for 4 nights and our room was only cleaned once. After two nights in the hotel, we had to beg the employees at the front desk to have someone clean our room. Not only did we have to ask once, but we had to ask a second time for our room to be cleaned. In addition, upon arrival, we did not have any shower towels, and we had to go in search for some. Definitely not what we were expecting from an Embassy Suites Hotel. That was disappointing. The other disppointing part was the gym. The hotel is decribed to have a gym, but it was just a small room with an Ellyptical machine and a treadmill. I would not really describe this as a gym.
Booked as part of a wedding group, the staff was excellent.
The rooms were larger than most in Charleston, though not as large as you might have elsewhere. Two double beds and a separate small room with a sofa pull out bed. We tried letting our two kids have the doubles while we slept on the sofa bed but it was a very uncomfortable bed. Our view was beautiful of Marion park, the statue and an American flag. This hotel was last remodelled in 1996 and is showing a little age, they really should replace the windows with thicker ones (I could hear people if they were yelling outside) and bathroom is showing age. Service was the best we have had anywhere. Best free breakfast around with so many choices. Friendly staff, and a free happy hour with beer, wine, and spirits each night (and generous "snacks". 10 minute walk to the market, 3 minutes to the college, 2 minutes to shopping on King St. And 5 minutes to the harbor. Perfect location for us, we will not consider any other hotel for the value. We self parked in the garage next door instead of valet. Never stepped in the car for 4 days. Workout room was minimal but with the walking we did, we didn't miss it. Outdoor pool was ok. Arcitechure of the old citidel was cool.
Hotel is dirty. There are only a few tables for breakfast.
Great location. Rooms are comfortable and pretty big. Free wifi and welcome pack when you come in. No free parking. Free breakfast. Free happy hour but it's nothing fancy. No name brand liquors and some vegetables and snacks. Hotel isn't cheap though, try to get a deal.
Was not happy with being charged for parking. The cost was either $16.00 per day for self parking, or $22.00 per day for valet parking. Either way, this is a ridiculous fee. Also, if we were not a Hilton honors member, there would have been an additional charge of $9.95 per day for WIFI. Enough with the feel already. It really takes the enjoyment out of your trip, when you are being nickel and dimed too death. The staff however, was very friendly.
The hotel met our expectation in every possible way. Affordable only because of Orbucks applied
We were in Charleston for a family gathering and extended our stay through the weekend. This hotel was in an excellent location the breakfast was great staff were very nice
the rooms are huge, the staff is fantastic. I'd recommend a room off the ground floor, our ground floor room had a tiny window and felt a little like a basement. I didn't love the location, it was about a 15-20 minute walk from the tourist area, but I am sure some people would love the location.
Hotel was nice and historic. Close to market are in downtown. Would stay again.
Hotel was in a great location to all things going on. Some hotel staff were very polite and friendly but one was slightly rude when we were needing our can brought around. The sofa bed mattress was extremely lumpy and uncomfortable, as if a child had been jumping on the bed. Regular bed was comfortable. Lots of loud construction noise outside early in the morning.
Great location to explore historic Charleston. Liked the complimentary full breakfast and complimentary drinks and snacks at 5:30 PM reception. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Loved the feel of old history - beautiful wood floors, valet parking was perfect especially in the summer and the heat. Room was nice, clean, great a/c - breakfast was great. Overall wonderful stay.
The hotel was perfectly situated only a few blocks from the downtown area. The food on site was fantastic, the staff was extremely accommodating, and the hotel is very family oriented.
Great location, very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff. We'd definitely return.
My sweetie and I took an impromptu mid-week getaway to Charleston and booked a room at the Embassy Suites Charleston via the app on the drive over. We picked it because of its location (ideal to experience historic downtown Charleston) and he's a Citadel alumn so there's a personal connection (the building once housed the Citadel and the recognizable architecture remains intact). It's pricey, but very comparable to others nearby and the facility itself is impressive, rooms are clean and well appointed, staff is courteous, breakfast and wifi are included, and ($16) parking is available nearby.
Excellent Staff - location -Breakfast and afternoon cocktails! Wonderful !!!
Great historic hotel, comfortable room, great location, very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast.
Enjoyed the hotel. It was very comfortable. We stayed because of the historic background. Would have liked more pictures from before renovation. The staff were very helpful. The permanent breakfast set up was a distraction to the beauty of this hotel. Breakfast in the dinning area was much better than in the Great Room. The trolley stops outside, but it is unreliable. Plan to walk. Close restaurnts on King Street were excellent. Saturday farmers market out front was a pleasant surprise.
