The Capital Hilton

Recent guest reviews

We spent six days at the Capitol Hilton during a very cold blast of winter 2018. At first our room was cold and I slept with a winter coat over me. We complained and hotel staff worked on the problem. Then the room was either too hot or too cold. We finally managed to find a thermostat setting that was comfortable most of the time. There was no mini-bar in the room, but there was a lock box. Breakfast was an additional charge, but the hotel has good restaurants, and there are a couple fine restaurants nearby. There's also a Subway and another inexpensive sandwich shot about a block away. The McPherson Metro station is about two blocks away, and there are a couple bus stops within a block. The White House is just a few blocks away. The hotel's staff couldn't have been more helpful. All in all I was satisfied with our experience there, and if I travel to DC again I'd consider the Capitol Hilton.

Good overall stay, comfy room and accommodating staff.

The room was small (from New York I understand) Several floor tiles in bathroom wasn't attached properly, felt I was going to break them when getting out of Shower. From the time we checked in until late the next night several glass wear was sitting on the floor. Saw several employees walk right pass (even stayed there for a while after I let front desk know) Can live with all that but what was really annoying was every time we came into the Hotel there was some body (like a vulture swooping down) from Hilton Honors trying to get you to go to something about joining some type of travel club. And I mean every time....but as title said...not what I expected from a Hilton except the room service and food very expensive (7.50 for a bagel and cream cheese forgetaboutit)

Location near all interested places for sightseeing. Very friendly staff. Free wifi, water and continental breakfast for Hiltonhhonor members. The only thing need to improve is the noise issue near the room door, can hear noice outside of the rooms.

I don't believe you can stay at a better hotel in a better location for the price - two thumbs up!!

Very nice hotel staff, room was clean but the condition of the room needs to be improved.

Loved the location of this hotel being within walking distance of the White House and lots of other attractions. Perfect for our needs.

We stayed 2 night for our anniversary and Christmas party. The staff was great, very polite and helpful.

I booked a room with 2 double beds, and when I got to the hotel I was told that there are no more double bed rooms available and would it be ok if got a 1 king bed room. I said no that would not be ok, but was told then told there are no other options (so why as me if it was ok in the first place?). I was only offered complimentary breakfast in the executive lounge in the morning as a consolation. When I got to the hotel room it was not a king size bed, not a queen bed, but it was a small double bed!! Mind you it was 2 of us staying in the room. I called to say this is not the king size bed I was told I was getting in place of my 2 double bed reservation. I was told by the supervisor that they will have to have someone come and verify this before switching my room. I guess they thought I was a liar. I was told someone would come in 5-10 minutes, but after 30 minutes I had to call back down because no one had shown up. After my angry follow up phone call someone finally came to move us to check and see the small bed and then move us to a new room. I was also told that my room would be changed the second day to my original double bed reservation and that all I needed to do was pack my bags and someone would come in the morning to move us. That of course never happened. Needless to say this was a bad experience. I would've fought for additional credits or something in the future, but I do not plan on staying at this hotel ever again.

Near to the White House! The Hotel location is great but the hotel rooms needs renovations.

If you're looking for a great location, this is perfect for a DC Staycation and sightseeing, but if you're looking for over satisfaction, I would say keep looking. We stayed here for our anniversary, it was a very busy hotel. They seemed to try and nickel and dime us for everything, Internet, gym, late checkout. The onsite breakfast was close to $30 a person-- which doesn't compare to all the great options in the surrounding area. The room didn't have a refrigerator, we had a room with terrible view. There weren't enough towels for the two of us. Overall, it wasn't what we expected and we stay in hotels about twice a month throughout the year, so we do have a very clear understanding of what good quality and service is.

Before we even stepped into the hotel, we had to deal with the parking. There was a sign that said the garage was full and then began to list the prices for valet. We needed to keep our rental overnight which would of cost us $56 PER NIGHT! We parked in a garage offsite and when I asked an employee during check-in if the garage would be open tomorrow, he told me they didn't even have a garage. I got bug bites all over my legs and they investigated the room and found "no bed bugs" and passed it off as ants. I was just expecting more from the hotel.

It is only a few blocks from the White House, the National Mall and also the Smithsonian. Really delicious food near by and a wide variety to choose from! Hotel was beautiful and very clean. Staff was extremely helpful and always very pleasant. Will definitely be staying here again when we return to DC.

Nice and clean hotel in a great location! Hotel staff was pleasant. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed overnight. Used the hotel as a place to sleep. Nothing else to report.

The Bathroom sink water pressure was very low. It was very hard to do anything in the sink.

It was my 2nd experience at this hotel. Absolutely NO complaints! Will be back soon.

The hotel is beautiful. Staff were very friendly. The only downside was there is construction going on in the front of the building at all hours of the day and night. If you require peace and quiet, request a room away from the front of the hotel. The valet parking was a little pricey compared to other hotels I've stayed at, but the valet staff was very friendly and took great care of my car. Metro station is only 1 block away, and hotel is within walking distance of many great restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. Valet can can be improved, however, overall they are decent.

The hotel is in a great location for food, sights & distance from Metro (1 1/2 blocks) Quiet by city standards, beds very nice. Only issue was we could not get the temp in the room adjusted, very cool and when trying to adjust it got too hot....but that is minor issue. I would stay there on next visit
