I am not someone to normally leave a review like this but feel like I need to share about my experience. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I stay at many levels of hotels and was shocked by how poor our experience was while staying here... I have never had this type of experience before, let alone for over $300 a night. When we arrived, we were told they oversold our room. We were looking forward to a king bed and were put in a room with two beds. We were told we would be moved in the morning. We didn't have much time and didn't want to have to repack, but thought it would be worth it to get into the room we booked. We were slightly irritated but were hopeful to be moved the next morning. In the meantime, while we were in the room they gave us, the lights were not turning on and the blinds were broken. We let the front desk know of these issues and there was no apology or anything. We were happy that they moved us to a new room the next day. However, we quickly learned that the new room had no AC and it was 80+ degrees outside. The room was incredibly humid and warm. We sent many messages and called the desk about this issue. We slept in an extremely warm room and hardly slept that night due to being so uncomfortable. Finally, the next day an engineer came by to try to fix the AC. We were told to wait a little and that it would probably be fixed soon. No luck. We were then moved to a different (our 3rd) room. This was extremely exhausting. Beyond ridiculous -- we spent half the trip contacting the front desk about the issues or sweating in the room. It was a complete disaster. I have honestly never had an experience like this before and was shocked that nothing was done to make our stay better. Luckily on our last night we had an okay room with AC working properly. So disappointed...

Very nice property. Very clean and spacious room great customer service with staff. Loved the free wine and Apps as well at happy hour. Whole foods and an Awesome coffe bar right around the corner . Very hip area with nice shops and restaurants within walking distance.

I visited Kimpton Mason & Rook in November 2016, and let me start off with the basics. The rooms are big, contemporary, clean and modern. If you're lucky, you'll have a calming city-view as well. However, one of the best things about this hotel is the location, situated centrally on Rhode Island Ave, it's in walking distance to the National Mall (eg. White House, Wash Mon, Lincoln Mem, Capitol) and all other Downtown sights. Another great things about the Mason & Rook is the restaurant/lounge/bar, which is a really nice venue, and the staff is super nice. The rooftop pool/bar steals the show though, in regards to hotel facilities. Beautiful views as well. I look forward to returning.

I booked 3 colleagues in this hotel for business in the DC area and it was constant issue after issue. The valet "lost" their production vehicle for 45 minutes. One co-worker had room service knocking on their door demanding them take food that they never ordered. Front desk were unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel charged personal cards for Hotel Resort Fees and Early Checkout ($170) and when trying to reverse the charges on to our actual corporate card, they said "We don't accept CC Authorization forms anymore, so we can't do it unless you provide a wire transfer or come in person" - except we were in town for business, so we cannot amend the charges in person. Will not be staying here again nor recommending it to others in the company.

Great location near 14th street. We went out every night based on great recommendations from the hotel. 14th street is very active young sophisticated and fun. Loved the restaurant in the hotel and the roof top pool. Staff was great.

Valet was a mess. Never offered a car ticket, didnt bother to ask if we were returning or checking in. Never received any type of check in assistance. WORST part was our room was not ready at check in time. We were only there for one day, and needed to change after a 5hr car drive. No type of apology, actually the front desk was rude about it. Didnt seem concerned at all, and did not give us an approximate time to check in. Lastly, had used room service plates with discarded food in front of our room. Even after letting the front desk know about it, the plates were still there. We checked out as fast as we could at 530 am.....

There are a lot of hotels to choose from in the District but if you want a modern hotel with an excellent staff, this is the place for you. The staff is exceptional and so often make the difference between an ok stay and a great one. My room was large and nice. Their restaurant has a great happy hour. I look forward to staying there next time.

This hotel is quite nice, modern and in a great location with a very nice roof top bar. The room was neat and modern with a great desk so if you are on business you will appreciate it. A good sized TV and a big bathroom with a huge shower but no bathtub. The room was clean but not sparkling and the bathroom good with the exception of the shower that had foot prints still on the tiles and smelled strongly of mold. I was there a week and by the end of my stay it was getting unbearable. Also they don't have coffee makers in the room but if you ask they will bring you one. I had to ask for an ironing board too, although there was an iron in the room. The free wine in beer in the lobby between 5 & 6 every day is a nice touch but a bit short. We had a hard time making it back from the convention by 6:00. The Radiator Grill is nice but inconstant, we ate breakfast there and the meals were never the same twice and the service slow. The location is great in a up and coming neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars nearby also an easy walk to the convention center. All said it is a nice hotel with great front of the house staff but needs a full improvements in housekeeping and food service. I would stay here again.

Stayed here on business with my wife. Have stayed at e wry major DC hotel throughout the years and I must say this one is one of the best at a significantly reduced rate! The experience was in keeping with Kimpton's commitment to friendliness and comfort. The hotel is new. It's extremely clean and well-organized. In many ways, it feels like a small Inn, yet you know you have the offerings of a hotel. The location is outstanding. The 14th Street corridor offers a wide variety of dining options in s trendy atmosphere (recommend "Le Diplomat" two blocks away). The staff was extremely warm and courteous. As one modest example, the reception noticed we had just missed complimentary happy hour and poured us two nice glasses of wine upon arrival anyway. The gym is small but just enough. Breakfast a delight. Complimentary morning coffee outstanding, as are all the other perks that come with joining Kimpton's Karma Rewards program. A quick Uber or 15 minute walk and you're in the middle of all the DC attractions. Beautiful, spacious rooms with super-comfortable beds and the biggest LCD tv I've seen. Try this hotel. You'll love it. I plan to return (booked it as all others were booked up, but will choose this one first now). Cheers!

Rooms were spacious with flat screen Tv's in every room. The bathroom are beautiful with a huge shower though there was no tub. The staff was very attentive and got to know me by name. They were knowledgeable about the area and had great suggestions for tours and activities, One night we jokingly mentioned that we needed wine and a few minutes later one of the staff brought us a complimentary bottle. We were there for a training day and the conference room was set up beautifully. The food was better than most hotels but the staff was a little slow in restocking the food. The temperature in the room was hard to manage and it made the meeting a little uncomfortable. The hotel was clean and well maintained. More of a luxury hotel than a place to crash. The shampoo and conditioner in the room were better than the shampoo I bought from my stylist. I wish I could have purchased it but with airline regulations it wasn't possible to bring it home this time. We did love the pet concierge and seeing the doggu guest come and go was very entertaining.
