Capitol Skyline

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Convenient location, walkable to several attractions. Safeway, 7-11, cvs short walk, plenty of parking in garage. Was here on an “off” weekend and reserved “run of the house” room, was given larger corner king room. Standard rooms do not have mini-fridge, which is a drag, even though the credenza has the cabinet for it. This room had a fridge and small microwave.

Loud neighbors, people standing outside hotel all night long, room booked was not room received

The check in was super easy, the room was very comfortable, the pool was beautiful, and brekfast was very decient!! It was a plus they had Gluten free bread at breakfast!! Made me happy.

It's been a comfortable awesome experience. We have queen sized double beds. The room are clean. A lot of towels. The staff are excellent. Walking distance to 7-Eleven. I would recommend this hotel.

Clean rooms and a short walk to Nationals Park with easy highway access. I would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I were celebrating our one year anniversary & also attending a wedding during our stay at Capitol Skyline. We called the hotel to ask if early check in was possible to prepare for the wedding and we were assured it would be no problem! We arrived around 12:30 to get ready for the wedding and were quickly informed then that no rooms were ready and that they are only guaranteed to be ready by 3:00pm, yet we were told it wouldn't be a problem hours before and didn't have time to adjust. The gentleman at the desk didn't even pretend to check his computer to answer my question. Only quickly told me I couldn't check in until 3. There was no empathy with the situation. Once we were able to check in at 2:30, they asked for a credit card to have on hold but no charges would be made other than the $30 parking fee. Today (4 days after checkout), I called trying to find out some charges that showed up on my credit card and was told it was to cover the $40/night parking fee. I am writing this review because I have stayed at some rundown hotels because they were cheaper HOWEVER they went above and beyond to be polite and honest about their fees. They did anything they could to treat me like a paying customer so that I may return in the future. Here, I felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by letting me pay to stay at their hotel while charging my much more than their website/Orbitz and the front desk attendant informed me the day of check in.

was first given a room on the 7th floor with a great view of the capitol, except there was some kind of blood/food stain at the foot of the bed, the wall mirror was not up but leaning against the wall, the tv remote didnt work, and the coffee condiments had been used and not replaced (chewed up straw). Plus while we were in the room two maids at different times walked into the room surprised to see us, as though it wasn't common knowledge that the room was taken. When i told the front about the above, manager wasn't too apologetic but did move us to a "clean" room on the 5th floor. I'm sure another sap was probably given the room we didnt want :| Bathroom was noticeably old. Beds were comfortable. Pool was nice, but dont order anything more complicated then a rum and coke at the bar...definitely no real bartender there. Otherwise staff was nice, one-way shuttle to some tourist sites was helpful. Rating wouldve been higher if manager at least pretended concern over the room condition, maybe a breakfast voucher for our re-location trouble? would not return here.

Staff is great. Hotel modern, clean, comfortable. Has a nice outdoor pool area and bar, but would've been nice if it was open later for adults in the summer season, esp on the weekends. Not far from the capital bldg, but walking from it is not the safest...

Pool party at the hotel was too loud and too dirty. The lobby was dirty during check in. No water in the room. No fridge and AC didn't work properly. Area near the hotel not great either. Pay a bit more and stay somewhere better. I will next time.

hotel is basically a painted and updated howard johnson. nice little restaurants walking distance. didn't have hot water the first 2 times i showered and nobody at the hotel even pretended to care about it. was given a free breakfast and that made up for it. the hotel had a pool party that hotel guests were allowed to attend. ordered a drink at the pool bar and was not allowed to take the drink up to my room. families walked into the pool party and turned right around because it was a extremely loud hip hop music with lots of drunk adults, great people watching for me but most likely a horrible experience for families.

Even though i have conformed booking, at the time of check in they asked to go to another hotel without any prior notice. Bad experience

would be nice to have an extra person to help you with luggage to your room. Check utilities like air conditioning or Heat, that is working OK.

Good, could have a better dinning service with more food options and free shuttle service to airport for guests

Nice hotel conveniently located between Capitol Hill and Navy Yard. Room was clean and well laid out. My bathtub needed to be replaced (stained, hairline cracks and old repairs that were starting to deteriorate. Despite appearance it was functional. Area is in midst of a major renaissance, with lots of new condo buildings going up.

Great location Nice hotel nice staff decent restaurant with OK prices for the area 20 minute walk to the mall

Older but updated hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms clean and beds comfortable. Only complaint is they have no AC. It's a fan and doesn't cool room much so I would not recommend hotel for the summer.

This was an excellent hotel to stay at during the Inauguration. It was a 10 minute walk to the Capitol for the events. We attended an Inaugural Ball at the National Harbor and it was a 10 minute ride. There were plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk as well. The area was very nice. The only slightly concern about walking was the underpass on the way to the Capitol but there is a police station right there.

It was a really nice hotel and the staff was great just the beds could of been a little more comfortable

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Parking is pricey but there was street parking available. Check in/out was quick and uneventful. Staff was courteous.

This hotel has kind staff, clean rooms and is near the historic Washington DC... there is a good relationship between price, expectation and received services....
