I just have to say how much I love the Marriott brand. We travel so much with soccer and are forced to stay at hotels via travel agencies. This happened for this particular tournament in St. Petersburg, however we stayed an extra day and on our final night we moved to this TownePlace Suites in Tampa, right by the airport. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, always feel welcome!! The hotel is slim on parking but there were still open spaces to accommodate. Parking is free and there is plenty of restaurants of all varieties very close by. Shopping is also close by, however we did not visit any stores. The room was very clean and quite large. The bed was a little too hard for my liking though. If staying there more than 2 nights, I would probably have a stiff back. Over all a great night's stay to finalize our Florida trip!
The hotel was great. It was really close to airport. Also, had free shuttle service to pick us up from the airport. Awesome customer service. The free breakfast in the morning was very good. We will definitely stay here again.
Our flight was scheduled to arrive at midnight so we booked one night here. As it turned out our flight was delayed and after waiting for our luggage and catching the shuttle we arrived at the hotel at 2:00 am. The shuttle was "on demand" and we did not wait long. Check in was fast. The room was decent, but not as clean as I would like. The bathroom had some kind of "splatter" on the walls. We slept through breakfast so cannot comment on that. Coffee was drinkable, but not great. As there were other hotels nearby we would likely try another hotel next time we are in the area.
. The staff was nice, the bathroom had months of scum and a dirty shower curtain, mold all over, dirty dishes in cabinets. also house keeping cant be trusted as they use my things when they were supposed to be cleaning., The AC was VERY noisy , The toilet kept running after you flushed it.and along everyones above you can hear them flushing, and running, ask for a top floor room. walls are very thin, you can hear the doors close when someone goes in and out of their room. running down hallways, and the tvs, talking etc from other guests on their rooms, again ask for a top room or you will hear them walking at all hours. There is also no safes in the rooms, I am comfortable leaving my two expensive computers and iPad in a hotel room without a safe especially after the issue with using my things. breakfast was ok mostly cold items, and get there early sometimes they packed it up by 940am. there's no close parking because they rent their spacing to airport travelers, so u can walk from a near by parking garage, by yourself at night, with no security.
We had a rental car that had to be back at 9am. I wanted to stay near the airport so that the chances of running into any traffic snarls would be limited. The drive to the airport was one of the best that I've had at any airport hotel. (the hotel does offer a shuttle too). There are also two gas stations close by which made it easy to fill up. The room was clean and it was nice to have a small kitchen to reheat some food and keep our waters cold. I agree that the air conditioner is a bit loud as another reviewer stated. The pool was huge! But, too cold for me. My husband did use it. They also had a small gym but we did not use it. The breakfast was a little bit of a let down. There was one green apple and no other fruit during the time we were in the area (at 8am). The pancakes were cold, the oatmeal was way too thick, and the scrambled eggs were not very good. They did have a few muffins and other breads as well as cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and slices of cheese. We were on the top floor and it sounded as if a bowling tournament was going on above us for hours. It did seem to stop by 11pm...no idea what the noise really was. Overall, the location was great. We would use this hotel or another TownePlace Suites.
Took advantage of "Stay and Park" deal at hotel, near Tampa airport prior to early morning flight. The deal is stay for a night and park your car for up to 7 days. Not a bad deal considering parking at the airport is $10 per day and up. We arrived at about 9:30pm. Got into our room and within minutes discovered the room invested with sugar ants in kitchenette. Got switched to different room one floor up, but above previous room no ants in this kitchen but they were in the bathroom. So we switched again to a first floor room, no ants this time. So be sure to check your room before you unpack you luggage. Breakfast served starting at 6:00am.
I usually stay next-door at the Hilton Gardens but, they were sold out. So, I thought I would give TownePlace a shot. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean but, the hotel seems a bit worn down. The AC was VERY noisy and kept me up all night. The toilet kept running after you flushed it. You can't tell me that the housekeeping didn't notice these things. You can also hear the doors close when someone goes in and out of their room. There is also no safes in the rooms, I am comfortable leaving my two expensive computers and iPad in a hotel room without a safe.
The staff overall was very friendly, but the hotel had too many downsides to ignore. When I checked in the toilet was clogged, which I didn't notice till I got back for the night and it had flooded the bathroom. The front desk was quick to come fix it- though did not clean or provide replacement towels. The parking is either behind the hotel or in a garage, which the first night wasn't lit so felt really sketchy. Every other night there were plenty of lights so not sure if the first night was just a fluke. Housekeeping knocked on my door repeatedly despite the "do not disturb" on the door, and once actually opened the door only for the chain to catch it. Lastly, the front desk agent said my room number out loud in front of other guests. As a young woman traveling alone this is not a great situation and left me feeling uneasy. The hotel is older but clean and location is very convenient, though as a single traveler it didn't feel like a good choice.
I met three shifts of front desk stuffs and all are very enthusiastic and helpful and efficient. When the cap I requested didn't show up on time, the stuff made phone call right away to verify the status, even before I ask. I was taken very good care there. As a foreigner I feel grateful about this. I took a two bedrooms suit, which is cozy and clean, comfortable enough to me. The only thing a little bit disappointed is the building itself is relatively old. Overall it's a nice place to stay nearby Tampa International Airport.
I evacuated to Tampa to run from Hurricane Irma. After driving from Miami for over 8 hours, we were met by a front desk clerk named Jerry who was smiling. He was so calm and helpful even though there were many late check ins who were harried evacuees. Jerry had such a positive attitude as he calmly handled the crowd and told us where to park, he brightened our day!
