Svendsgaard's Danish Lodge-Americas Best Value Inn

We enjoyed our stay at Svendsgaard's Danish Lodge in Solvang. We had two rooms. The first room was very clean and comfortable with what appeared to be a remodeled bathroom. Our son had the second room. It was also very clean and comfortable but the bathroom was much older and in need of modernizing. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast. It provided a number of choices including danish, bagels, cereal, fruit, juice, and coffee. The people working at the Lodge were extremely nice. Downtown Solvang is across the street. We had a very pleasant experience at Svendsgaards. We would stay there again and recommend it to others.

this is a "retro" hotel that still has keys (I hate those cards that get lost all the time!). Clean and tastefully designed without pretenses on "glamour". Staff is friendly and helpful, so you feel at home. Danish pastries in the morning are excellent! Location is wonderful - on the corner of two main streets and with a wonderful view. I will return and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Reasonable priceing for the area. Near Santa Barbara, but about half the price. Facility is old but kept up. We have stayed there several times. Be sure to eat breakfast or lunch at Paula's down the street.

Great location, friendly staff. Free breakfast was a plus but not much variety

The room was not what I expected. The bathtub looked like it was never cleaned, there was dirt in the there! The mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker were all plugged into an extension cord that was plugged into another extension cord that was dropped over the sink pipes. That's a HUGE fire hazard and safety no no! I took a picture of it but my phone won't let me add it to this review. Also the thermostat didn't really work well. The room barely cooled down. Lastly, I had the do not disturb sign on the door and the cleaning staff ignored it. I was in the room, heard 1 knock and thenot the door opened. What's the point of the sign of they just come on in?!?!

Staff shared their bicycle routes and they were great. Breakfast had fruit, pastries, cereal. Many local cafes if you eat a large breakfast.

good location, very comfortable room with everything you nee.

Everything very good with the exception of the bathroom that was worn. Clean, very friendly personel, good beds and fantastic location. Breakfast was not impressing, but you will find much vetter stuff in town.

Nice location close to everything - spacious room. Slightly old fashioned decor, would recommend especially for families

Is this the best motel/hotel I've ever stayed at? No. That was when I saw Kid Cudi perfrom from the balcony of a suite at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Is this a perfectly fine place if you're passing through the area and want a quite place to rest your head for the night? Yes. I feel the price I paid was very fair. I was in walking distance to everything in Solvang and the staff was friendly and nice. Their continental breakfast was not amazing but I thought it was perfectly fine. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

Good value if you search out best times to stay. Road noise can be bad - hotel at intersection of 2 busy streets, so ask for room farther back or an inside room if road noise is a concern. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast minimal, not self serve - we went out for breakfast.

Hotel was quaint and clean, close to all amenities and had a great pool and Jacuzzi. Breakfast free each morning was just fine. Hotel staff were very attentive.Got a call 60 minutes after we checked out aleeting us my husband left his gold wedding band in room. They are mailing it to us. Very grateful!

We got in late and room key was there and room was fine -

Good clean hotel. Great value. Would reccomend this hotel to others. Right in the middle of shops and places to eat.

Exceeded expectations as there were other fancier places to stay. I doubt the other places would have customer service as good. Great location, easy access, clean, quiet, will stay there every time I'm in Solvang.

The name on the hotel sign is Svendsgaards Lodge. The lady at the front desk at check in and check-out was neither friendly nor informative in answering my questions. The free breakfast was Danish, cereal, apples, packaged oatmeal, milk, coffee, tea, and orange juice. It was monitored by an employee and you have tell them what you want and they'll give it to you. The room was very dated and had a musty smell. The bed was fairly comfortable. I'm glad I got this room with an Orbucks discount. It's not worth the full price. I wouldn't recommend this place nor will I stay here when we visit again. The location is at the north end of the Solvang tourist area.

This hotel was great. The room was very spacious. King bed, two full sized recliners, fireplace, dining table, great view of the town, heated pool, jacuzzi, and pastries for breakfast.

This was the perfect location for several family members to stay for a wedding and mini vacation. Conveniently located within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Good parking access. Loved the pool! too bad you couldn't use the hot tub after 9pm. I would have loved a good soak after a night of dancing! The rooms could stand some updating such as new wallpaper and decor, but the bed and linens were clean and comfortable. The towels were a little skimpy, especially the pool towels. Overall, good. I would stay here again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the nice big rooms and the closeness to the town. The bed were comfortable and the rooms very clean. We will plan to stay there on our next trips to Solvang.

The room is big and clean. I enjoyed it and had a great time in Solvang

I'm sorry that it has taken so long to reach out to you about your stay, but I can t seem to get expedia to let me respond to you through this review and they only give me your 1st name on the review. So please know that I take this mater and review very serious, but can't seem to get expedia to ok my response to you. They have told me I can not put any email of phones in the response! And I'm sorry about that. If there is any way you could let me know what room you stayed in I would like to look into this ASAP. I have gone to 2 room that did have the extension cords that I was not aware of and we will be removing them ASAP. The clean staff should have not gone into your room! So I have enforced a new police when there is DND signs on the door so that this will not happen again. Although it should have never happened. We are in the process of replacing all bathrooms at this time, that is also why I would like to know the room number so we can make sure to have that room at the top of the list. Again I'm sorry for stay and I would love for you to come and try us again. Like I said I have tried to add my email so you could email me and expedia will not ok it. I wish there was more that I could do for you, but without a last name and date of stay I don't know how to reach out to you. Thank you again for the review. Jessica Larsen
