La Jolla Cove Suites

The Cove has always been a special place for me and I go there every few years. The hotel is in much better shape than it has been for years. Very clean and comfortable. It is an older hotel, but the location is exceptional. The only bad thing is the Sea Lions. They are noisy and smell very bad! I don't remember there being so many when I was in college all those years ago. But it is a lovely place and a good destination for a few days. Steve

You cannot get a better location for La Jolla shopping and beach. they have a garage for 20 a night which is worth it. the beds aren't great in the lower end rooms but better in the suites up on the hill.

Great location but a tired old hotel. Breakfast was decent, great view on roof. Pool has promise but rooms are small, like tiny small with bathrooms the width of a toilet. If you want to be in the cove consider paying a bit more for some quality.

This hotel is great because of it's close proximity to the Beach and Cove in La Jolla. From check-in to check-out, the hotel staff is amazing. Tiani and Carissa were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. They told me I could access Prospect Street (the restaurant street behind the hotel) by going up the staircase on the side of the hotel. But, be forewarned, it is not for the faint-of-heart as the steps are very steep. I did it with my two knee replacements. The hot tub on property is very relaxing and the pool is heated. In addition, there are yard games and pool tables in the pool area. The down-side is the roof-top bar/lounge is only opened on the week-end and we are weekday travelers. Breakfast on the roof-top terrace is very sustaining to get you on the road or through another relaxing day at the beach. Beware of the aroma coming from the Cove and the Sea Lions and Seals that reside on the cliffs of the Cove. But, they are very amusing to watch, so please don't miss them. Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite, Rooms 101, 201, 301, 401. The Ocean-Front rooms w/balcony are the best.

Easy parking, parking fee waived for handicapped license plates or handicapped placards. The two ladies at the registration desk very helpful and courteous. Thanks, Tiani and Carissa. Great job! Heated pool and relaxing Jacuzzi very refreshing. Stairway on the side of the hotel to get up to the restaurants on Prospect Street not for the faint of heart as they are very steep. Great restaurants, George's at the Cove and Duke's.

We were very disappointed in our stay. We got stuck in an older room (232) with no view. No kitchen in the 2 bedroom suite. 2 coffee mugs, no silverware...took 1 hr 15 min to get sheets for sofa bed all yours for only $400. Total rip off. I would not recommend!

Great spot with view overlooking park and ocean. Although a bit noisy with autos and park in front. Central location can't be beat. Simple dated rooms but very clean and comfortable.

This hotel was old and falling apart. No airconditioning in the bedroom. Portable airconditioning in the living area. No TV in the bedroom. Old rugs and a cheap mattress. Ice machine in the garage. Shower controls and head that leaked. Grey toilet paper. Bathtub with rusted drain. 20 dollars a night for parking. Cleaning solution smell. We left the next day and got a refund. Do not stay there. The beach is not in walking distance.

We very much enjoyed our stay.. Again Jake was great. We would come to LA JOLLA Again when we could stay longer.

The location of this hotel can not be beat. All of La Jolla is walking distance. The view from the balcony was amazing. The hotel has a bank of standard rooms which are at the back of the property and have no views. If you stay here you have to book the balcony suites otherwise you are wasting the experience. We booked a package deal and requested the balcony room at location. The helpful staff accommodated our request and it was so well worth it!

We ended up getting upgraded to one of their amazing suites that overlooks the ocean, had a kitchenette, and floor to ceiling windows. The staff was very accommodating, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to any couple hoping to stay in La Jolla!

great service and view. we loved being near the beach.

Very easy breezy hotel, with great location. Very helpful staff. Very over-priced fine dining in the area. Decent juice shop a couple blocks away.

Power kept going out in the room (approximately six times). No central heating, so power out means that the little electrical heater in the room wouldn't work so we were freezing. Once the power was out for about an hour. No discount for the discomfort, front desk would not switch rooms. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Very much enjoyed my stay here for its convenience and the helpfulness of staff. It is in prime location to reach the sight seeing spots people seem to flock to (a double-edged sword), and also close enough to take a nice walk to some of the better beach areas.

we have driven past the Lajolla Cove many times and wondered what it was like. well with out of town quests and a great room rate we decided to find out. the location cant be any better, directly on the cove you can hear the ocean and the sea lions. you can smell them too, but the hotel isnt to be blamed for that. the room is very large and well equipped for the price it was far better than my expectations. i would like to have a little bit more light in the bedroom, which is a typical hotel issue, but otherwise we had a relaxing stay.

Great hotel. Not such a great view if you aren't on the ocean side. Rooms are a little small but serve their purpose. Bathroom is even tinier. Bed was comfortable and it served us week for the night!

The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was nice however the view was magnificent, we opened our doors to the awesome view of the ocean. I wish they had a roof top restaurant, the continental breakfast was nice. Overall I'll be back soon for the great experience.

We had a large suite (900 sq ft) facing the ocean with phenomenal views. Double glass doors opened 12' onto the ocean with a small park in front of the hotel. Lots of swimmers, walkers, bikers, etc enjoying the park every minute of the day. Although not fancy, this would be a perfect beach accommodation for a family vacation. Building was built in 1959 so it's a bit old and funky, but we don't need fancy. The kitchen is large and minimally outfitted with the basics. In the hallway there is a whole wall of built in storage in addition to a large closet in the bedroom. I think this room sleeps 6 with 2 Queens in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper. Both a stand-up shower and a tub. Continental breakfast including hot waffles, muffins, cereal, hard boiled eggs and beverages. We will definitely go back. 20 minutes to downtown SD and Balboa Park.
