1. expect to tip everyone if you need anything or if you want someone to talk to you. 2. expect to take a shower with cold water and the shower to overflow. 3. do not expect to make any use of the Jacuzzi, there is no hot water.. waste of extra money 4. Terrible tasting food, when the food in the buffette taste better than the "specialty restaurants" that is something to say. 5. Again, paid extra money for all this extra stuff, just not to use it because they were not working. 6. The most uncomfortable place to be, it was raining so they moved the activities to the lobby.. the so call dancers, will approche you and i felt like i was bieng interviewed, no one asked them to sit at my table, the one who did looked like she was 15 y/o and was asking very personal questions, i had to get up and leave, the ambiance, it supposed to be adult, but what kind of adults activities are you expecting, i went there with my partner to have fun, not to be harrased. the club... very funny you can call that a night club. the point is, werever you move, if you dont have that extra money to hand out to anyone who talks to you, dont go there, its a sale point, everything is for sale, they will ask you to go here or there which is very inconvenient when you trying to rest, and when you go, is just to sell you something, i was sick for most of my stay, the only good thing was the server in the snack bar, he went out his way to get me stuff to make me feel better.. besides that, had a very bad exp
Both me and my gf got sick, hotel wasn't clean, food was terrible, staff was friendly but didn't really speak English just terrible
Great vacation!!! Staff was awesome!!! I would stay again
THE PEOPLE , STAFF AND RESORT WERE WONDERFUL! BEAUTIFUL AND ROOMS VERY NICE. THE FOOD TASTED GOOD BUT MY HUSBAND WAS SICK FROM DAY 2. EVERY TIME HE ATE HE HAD TO RUN TO THE BATHROOM SO WE COULD NOT ENJOY OUR TRIP. WE DID NOT DRINK THE WATER AND WERE AFRAID TO EVEN EAT BY THE TIME WE LEFT. IT WAS VERY SAD ,
If you are a non Spanish speaking American do not go here. They prey on tourists, you will not be left alone from the moment you get off the plane to every time you leave your hotel room. You have to tell people no over and over again who want money from you. If you go off resort, good luck the country is a dump ( literally )
This vacation/honeymoon was amazing and way more than expected. The staff was so friendly and treated us like we were royalty. They were always happy and smiling and talked to everyone. The games at the pool were fun to interact in or watch. The beach was beautiful. There was quite a bit of seaweed but overall it was beautiful. The food was delicious and again the staff always went over and beyond our expectations. Highly recommend it!
Pros-- smallish intimate resort, adults only, laid back and generally pretty quiet, extremely friendly staff, easy to get to (30 min drive from the airport), beautiful grounds, lovely beach with just enough surf. Cons-- Resort is a little rundown and in need of updating. Very uncomfortable mattresses and pillows (everyone in our group of 10 had trouble sleeping). AC and hot water was temperamental. Wifi only worked in lobby and in room and you had to pay extra to have it in your room. Towels were frayed and thin from overuse. Cockroach problem in my room, mosquito problem in a friend's room, and housekeeping kept leaving the sliding door to the patio open letting all kinds of bugs and critters in the room. About half the beach chairs and all the beach beds/cabanas were falling apart and the good chairs were all taken by 8am. The pushy sales pitches were out of control. Could not get a moment's peace from all the vendors (both on beach and at pool). Even if you were successful in getting them to move along quickly, another one was right behind him ready to interrupt your day. Beach was not comfortable or relaxing as a result. Food was terrible. Staff tried very hard to be friendly and accommodating... But they ALWAYS had a hand out for a tip. Easily spent $50-100 per day just on tips. And communication was terrible-- Different staff told different people different things about what was included, what wasn't. We ended up being charged for things we were told were included. And of course they don't put anything in writing. DR is lovely and I hope to return soon. Just not to PC Princess.
The rooms spelt like mold and mildew. The front desk staff were rude and never smiled. Almost like you were a bother to them. The bar staff was the same way blatantly ignoring you as you waited for a drink.
The hotel staff was excellent- the bar tenders (especially kenia), wait staff, housekeeping, and louis! were all super friendly and helpful. The pool was huge and the beach water was clear blue- There was alot of seaweed, but it wasn't too gross because of the clear water- you could see what was touching you :). The pool and beach entertainment as well as the evening events in the lobby that the staff put on were alot of fun. It was SO NICE to be at an adult only resort! The buffet food was average- nothing special. The restaurants were decent. We took a snorkel excursion that we bought at the beach - it was basically a party boat with 30 minutes of snorkeling, where we only saw about 3 types of fish- and then they docked at a private island which really was not an island- it was a sandbar where they stopped along side other party boats. It was still alot of fun, but if you were looking to see a variety of pretty fish and snorkel more than 30 minutes- maybe try a snorkel excursion from the lobby- which would be alot more money.
My friends and I had a great trip. The resort grounds were beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. We decided to try the Fondue, Italian, and Dominican restaurants. I was not fond of the Fondue restaurant because it was small, hot, and service was slow. The others were great, especially the Dominican. Take time to visit the sister resort. They have free shuttles running but we decided to walk via the beach. It was a short walk. The beach was perfect except for the huge amounts of seaweed that would wash up. The staff was very diligent about cleaning it up. Even though there was a ton of seaweed in the water, we still swam everyday. We were pleased with the overall value for the price. It is a perfect place to visit.
Our stay was wonderful! The staff are excellent! Very happy and friendly! Food and drinks were great! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to family and friends. I definitely will be back for anniversary trips!
Overall experience was good. Not to happy with the food and the wifi was horrible.
This was our first adults only resort experience and we loved everything except the vendors.... HATED that we couldn't even relax by the pool without people trying to sell us stuff. Outside of that it was amazing - I will never forget this trip LOVED IT
Staff service was hit and miss... the good ones were great, the not so good ones were bad. There could have been more for the people to do, they offered tons of excursions but not much to do on a more casual note. Not much of a nightlife at all. The location was beautiful but pretty faraway from the shops (except a flea market) and restaurants or off the resort clubs/bars. Maybe having a list of relitively close places in the town would have been nice. Overall amazing trip. Hotel was perfect sized, nice rooms.
Enjoyed the pool. Nice beach as well. Food was good but not great. Alcohol was quality. Also, the beach day beds could have used some updating.
If you're looking for a way to go to DR without spending much money this is great. There is no internet in the rooms. The beach is beautiful and the pool is a decent size with a swim up bar which was also great. The room smelled like mold the whole time we were there which I had read in other reviews but didn't believe would be true--that was unfortunate. The staff were great. My husband forgot pants to wear to the steakhouse and the man at the front desk called one of his friends and got him a pair to borrow since they didn't sell any in the shop--it was a little weird but so great. If it's your first trip this place is good but when I return I will be looking for a nicer place.
Went with a group of friends and had a great time. The people were very nice and you can't beat this for the price.
Closest to paradise Ive been. Totally an outstanding resort. Staff, especially our housekeeping, exceptional. If you ever get the opportunity, dont even think about it, just do it. If I had the opportunity again, Id go in a heart beat. First resort Ive been to that was adults only, no kids screaming, or splashing in the pool, nobody running or breaking in line for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Had access to other resorts. Transportation provided to and from. Great bar staff, had a barbeque on the beach. Easy access from the airport, 30 minutes, wonderful restaurants on resort, need to make reservations early. I didnt take advantage of extra day activities that were offered, I wish that I would have.
Great location, great room. Service was excellent - waiters are needed at pool and beach to bring you drinks, food could be much much better, but it is edible. Make sure to use restaurants in other location, as they are much better.
For the price we paid, I can't really complain about the value of the resort. The thing that made me mad was that besides my girlfriend and myself at least twenty other people I talked to all came down with severe abdominal pain and diarrhea on the same day. Everyone ate different food, and the only common denominator was the water at the resorts resturants. It just so happened that, that night the water was shut down throught the whole resort. There was something going on with the water that made us all sick, but the resort didn't want to own up to it! Not impressed!
