Better than what I expected

I chose a budget-price stay in what I hoped was not the sketchy part of town. I was a 12-minute walk from the Oceanside Transit Center in the center of town and there were plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars close by, upscale to divey. The pier is a 15-minute walk so the hotel is conveniently close to the ocean. Like any American city, there were homeless about but not on the property and I always felt safe. The hotel has seen lots of use but was well-cared for. The furniture had dings but my room was surprisingly large and very clean. However, I couldn't get the TV to work. I was there on Fri-Sat nights and it was quiet and comfortable. The reviews asked about my balcony view which was funny because I didn't have or expect one. So I've attached the view from my room window.

The bed was too hard, the pillows are way too soft, and there are rusting patches on the wall that can easily be remedied. The pictures on the website are definitely from when the place was brand new. The staff was nice. You cannot enter through the backdoors so you have to walk through the front lobby each time.

Manager is a thief & a fraud. Tried stealing $2,600k from us with no proof of damages. Banging on our door in the hallway at 10p threatening us with a police escort..asks for a $200 deposit & will not return. Terrible experience ever. Do not stay there
