I was unexpectedly charged an additional US $40 even though I had already paid for my full trip back in June. This really shocked me and seriously affected my budget for the four days I spent in NYC.
The room wasn’t very clean — the floor and under the bed had visible dirt. However, the staff were very pleasant, especially the security team. I also reported that the safe wasn’t working; the front desk said maintenance would check it, but no one ever came. Thankfully, the room’s key lock system felt secure, so I still felt safe staying there.
The bathrooms are shared, and while some were messy at times, it seemed to be because of inconsiderate guests. The cleaning staff were constantly working to keep them tidy. The facilities themselves are good. I’d recommend bringing disinfectant spray and wipes — I brought mine and used them in the room and before/after using the bathrooms and showers.
Overall, I gave a low rating mainly because of the unexpected US $40 charge.
