Simple overnight stay. Bed was comfortable and room was nice. Have to ask for a coffee maker to be brought to your room, but that was no problem. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

Lucerne is a decent choice if you want the Upper West Side but please don't expect a Hyatt or Hilton experience. The building is old and the rooms are small but everything is very clean and the staff very friendly. I wouldn't stay there if I didn't want to be near my grandchildren who live nearby. It is near everything, very safe and hip location, and extremely accommodating staff.

A bit surprised regarding the lack of a coffee machine in the room. Also the air exchanger was a bit loud. Otherwise, a great find in a good neighborhood, convenient to a range of restaurants, book stores, and museums.

I flew in to visit my father in the hospital; therefore, it was short and convenient.

Excellent stay at the Lucerne! Repeat visitor because of the quiet location, super easy access to the subway station, short walk to Central Park and the larger sized comfortable rooms! Perfect NYC spot!

Affordable and elegant stay on UWS. Accommodating staff, quiet room with good amenities.

Excellent Authentic NYC Style Hotel at the Heart of UWS.

We are repeat guests due to this hotel's consistent solid service, comfortable rooms, and amazing staff.

I was comfortable here, but the facilities need updating. The overall effect is a little dreary. That said I appreciated getting a quiet room, and that there was enough overhead and side lighting to actually see everything in the room (lack of adequate lighting is so often a problem). There should be a mirror in the room, in addition to the bathroom mirror, and my hair dryer (a very small one) only worked intermittently. The bathtub faucets didn't operate well. But the room was comfortable.

I don’t mind small rooms but the bathroom is out of date and dark, outlets inconvenient and tv old.

We were looking for a hotel that was located in a pleasant neighborhood, but still was reasonably connected by transportation to downtown.

My husband and I are repeat guests without hesitation. Service is very personable is on nights when the hotel is super busy and fully booked. We've stayed in a variety of rooms over the last two years and while we may have our favorite room type, all are clean, well-kept and well appointed.

Quaint hotel on the UWS conviently located near the attractions and best restaurants. Within walking distance to subways

My stay was only overnight , while my Husband was having a procedure in Hospital. Stay was very nice, We will be back again.

Checked into my room on my first night at about 11:30pm. Very tired after an exciting day in NYC. Reached for the remote to turn on TV, and after looking everywhere there is no remote. Called front desk to ask them to bring up a remote which they did. This remote did not work. Called again to ask for another remote. Next morning went to turn on the water for a shower. Water worked fine with great water pressure, but I could not turn the knob in the middle to switch to shower mode. Left/right/push/pull did not work. Mentioned to front desk, who said they would send engineering up to check this problem while I was out. While I am telling this story ( can not turn knob for shower) the manager keeps saying that this doesn't make sense, that I can't turn the knob to get the shower to work. Which was bizarre, and not what you are expecting to hear when reporting a problem. He also adds that he has stayed in many different hotels and has always been able to turn the shower knobs, really???? That's what you are going to say to your customer??? There was no sense of empathy of even understanding the problem. This person has no business being a manager, instead of making me feel better,he made me feel worse. I told him I would like to be comped in some manner for these inconveniences and he said because I had booked third party (Orbitz) he was unable to do that. It took one more day for them to get the shower fixed, left brass nuts/tubing on sink. Really poor

This is our go-to hotel every time we take a city trip and as transplanted NYers, that is saying a lot! The rooms are clean/comfortable, every staff person is friendly and helpful, and we love our 'old' neighborhood. The connected restaurant is a new favorite, even for friends who stop by to say hello. The only very small glitch not directly related to the hotel is that the nearby parking garage recently changed owners and is no longer honoring a hotel rate, which we didn't realize until after we parked there. No big deal but hopefully that will get sorted out one way or another. Either way, it is not a deal breaker and we will continue to be Lucerne regulars -- we can't say enough positives about this hotel and all of its staff!

Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, its friendly staff, the on site restaurant, wonderfully appointed rooms, and would stay here again.

The receptionist was very attentive to my requests.

We spent three nights at The Lucerne. The location is excellent, a short walk from Broadway and the subway and also a short walk from Central Park, Museum of Natural History, lots of restaurants and bars, and the 8th Ave subway.

Pro: Location! Safe area with a mix of tourists and locals. Upper West side is a favorite of the city for families and all of our kid-associated needs were easily met. Pleasant short walk to Central Park and several of the best museums, as well as the subway to Times Square or just about anywhere. Several great cafés, pharmacies, grocherys with in a block. Pro: Room size is reasonable for the age of the building, and our kids loved to watch the street from the deep window bay. Elevators are big enough for a stroller. Pro: staff was friendly and helpful, as were the other guests. Seemed clean enough Con: some of the bathroom fixtures were older and finicky and the room decor was not to my taste (think polyester jacquard and fake gilding) Pro: Building facade is pretty distinctive, which makes it easy to spot for kids or easily disoriented adults
