Hotel is located in very accessible part of midtown NYC. Very helpful staff.
An elegant room, staff were friendly and endlessly helpful... really great to have a stylish micro kitchen.
The Benjamin is ideally located in Midtown Manhattan. Mohammed the doorman was totally charming and greeted us with such enthusiasm that it made us all smile. For a slight up charge we were able to upgrade our suite to an even bigger suite with a terrace- it made a world of difference. Although we didn't eat any meals in our suite, the kitchenette was very convenient for drinks and leftovers eaten as a snack. We definitely would stay here again.
It was okay.. I was in a bind to find a decent value in Manhattan, and this is the only thing I could find which looked a vaguely special but I still had to pay through the nose for it. 550 bucks for a clean hotel is not a great value on any level. I'll do more research and book earlier next time. At best, this is a $300 hotel.
We stayed at The Benjamin July 12th - July 16th, 2014 and loved every minute of it. We are very picky people from Los Angeles and my husband said I did a great job of picking the hotel. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The service at the hotel was great and we loved their restaurant The National. The location was amazing and very east to get to places from there. Already planning my next trip there next month. Would not stay anywhere else!
Conveniently located near subway station, room was clean and quite big, with balcony. There is also a kitchenette. Staff helped us store luggage before check-in and after check-out. Con: no free wifi in room, only in lounge.
Spacious room in a great location. The hotel was well maintained and the staff was great.
It was our first time to the Big Apple and The Benjamin did not disappoint! From the greeting at the front door to the pillow menu (that was a complete new experience) it was wonderful. We would definitely return again.
I like this hotel. It's in a less trendy neighborhood but the rooms are pretty large (stayed in a King one-room suite). Must have been an off weekend because we got the room for $175/night. Great value since usually it's about $350. Only complaint - we put the fan on to get air circulating and it was SO LOUD we had to shut it off and opened a window. We were in an interior room so no street noise, but did get some food smells from the restaurant. Staff is pretty nice.
I would stay in The Benjamin again for sure. The service is impeccable, the room is great, and the staff couldn't be more pleasant. I unfortunately had noisy neighbors, but the hotel staff immediately offered me to change to another room and solved the problem. Great stay !
The hotel was okay. The staff were not very friendly. The room was missing items. The cleanliness was okay. It wasn't great but it wasn't awful. Just ok.
Super convenient, clean, friendly staff, located in mid-town as a great point to begin any journey around Manhattan, restaurant was great.
Staff was friendly and helpful. The room nice size esp for NYC! The location is fabulous. You can't beat it!
I booked this trip as a mini vacation and birthday weekend getaway for my girlfriend. Everything was as smooth as I could have imagined. The front desk staff were especially polite and courteous throughout the whole weekend when it came to helping us find the right restaurants. Plus, the beds are so comfortable, that you do not want to leave the room. I would highly recommend this to other couples looking to get away for a weekend.
Older hotel with very friendly staff. showers definitely need to be upgraded. Lack of hot water in the shower on Sunday morning was "awakening". overall - clean and quiet
I planned a special vacation with my girlfriend who was visiting NY for the first time. Prior to arrival I called the hotel twice to inform them that we would be arriving late from LA and to make sure that our reserved room would be available. Upon arrival, without any explanation, we were placed in an awful small room. After inquiry, we were informed that our room was simply "not available" and that we would be transferred to our room the next day by 12:00 pm. The next morning we were told that we could not be at any room between 12:00 to 3:00 pm. and then we would "checkin" again to our room at 3:00 at the latest. We waited until 4:00 pm and upon another inquiry were told that the room was still not ready. We informed them that we had to attend a function within an hour; but the staff wad evasive, apathetic and uncooperative and assistant manager had no time for us. After numerous calls and visits, we were finally allowed in to our room later that evening. We moved the luggage ourselves. It completely ruined the first two days of our vacation and our function. It also affected the remainder of our stay at the hotel. We also had difficulty reaching someone to order from the "sleep menu". Other than that, the hotel is centrally located and the housekeeping is good; everything else is average. As to value, after a couple of days we moved to the Doubletree hotel next door and found it to be a great value. Overall the Staff needs some retraining.
Overall, the hotel experience was great! The beds were comfortable, 12 pillow menu was innovative, room & bathroom size was more than adequate for NYC and elegantly designed. However, the front desk, spa, & concierge came off a bit pretentious but the other staff like the doormen & maids were very courteous and professional. And the spa was not really a spa but only a room for a massage--not worth it! And the food at The National was wonderful although a bit pricey but afterall Chef Zakarian is an Iron Chef...
A bit pricey, but a rare find in NY in that you actually get everything you paid for,
Great location. Nice price for the area. But a little funky smell in the hotel. Also, the pictures of the hotel were much nicer than the hotel itself.
Highly recommend this hotel. It's a gem in the city!
