During our recent stay we were captivated by the beauty and well-maintained appearance of the property. However, our overall experience was marred by several shortcomings, particularly in terms of amenities and service. One of the major drawbacks of the hotel is the challenging contour of the land it is built upon. Getting between different areas within the property proved to be quite difficult, and we were forced to rely heavily on the shuttle service provided. Sadly, this inconvenience was amplified when we discovered that our villa was nearly a mile away from the main market building, making it an arduous walk, especially for our elderly parents who were unable to make the journey. Furthermore, the free shuttle ride to the sister properties was consistently full, severely limiting our options for exploring the surroundings without incurring additional expenses. Considering the price we paid for our stay, we expected better availability and reliability for such services. The pools on the property were disappointingly small, and to make matters worse, they were kept at a chilly temperature. This prevented children and even adults from enjoying a refreshing swim. Additionally, the beach adjacent to the hotel was not suitable for swimming, denying us the opportunity to indulge in a beachside experience altogether. The quality of the food at the hotel's restaurants was mediocre standard.
Lots of use of shuttles. Were super high up in the villas beyond walking distance to anything. View was amazing but far from beach and amenities. Used our private pool almost exclusively.
The villa we stayed in was immaculately clean and well laid out. Food and amenities were fantastic with lots of options throughout the Sunset Beach Resort. The only thing that bothered us was the lack of responsiveness and zero help we got from the concierge. Multiple other reviewers of this property raves about the concierge- perhaps we were there on an off week. Dinner reservation requests were ignored, calls went to to voicemail, and despite multiple attempts to have anyone help us with the few requests we did have, we just ended up trying to find a way to handle everything on our own. The servers at the pool and restaurants were outstanding though- Ortencia at the Montecristo restaurant and Manuel and Alejandro at the Sky Pool were phenomenal.
Ran into a couple issues but everything was resolved!
