I was scheduled to arrive in town on a Tuesday night, but my flight was delayed keeping me from coming in until Wednesday. Tuesday night, I called the hotel to let them know that I would not make it that night, but that I would be there for the rest of my stay. When I arrived on Wednesday, my whole reservation had been cancelled and the desk said that only one room was available - the Jacuzzi suite. So the woman at the desk gave me a discounted rate for the room (still not as low as my original reservation) and gave me my keys. When I walked into the room, I immediately noticed that wax had been melted all over the carpet - large areas and full chunks left behind. One spot looked like a tea light had actually melted the carpet. Further inspecting, I found dried rose petals in the tub and on the chair. There was hair left all over the bathroom. Substances were splashed and smeared on the doors, desk, and toilet. And the light in the shower alcove did not work. The fridge contained old, rotting food. And the room smelled. I went online and tried to find another room in town, but nothing was available that night. So I returned to the desk to report the state of the room. They offered to clean the room or clean another room that had been vacated early but had not been serviced yet. I asked for the new room to be cleaned. I knew they would not be able to remove melted wax from the carpet quickly. And I was terrified of what might be under the bed covers at this point. So they did move me to a cleaner room and did not charge me for the stay that night. The next morning, two men were eating breakfast in the dining area with me. The staff started asking them for a room key and a reservation name. Ultimately, they had to be removed from the hotel for trying to eat the food without having a room there. I checked out and found a new hotel for the rest of my stay in Jacksonville. The front desk woman on the night shift was very helpful and regretful for my experience. But the whole Sleep Inn is ruined for me.
We chose this Sleep Inn because of its convenience to I-10. From check-in to check-out it was a fine one night stay. The people at the front desk were tremendously personable (especially Mary) and greeted guests as they came and left. The room was larger than some other Sleep Inns and the thermostat worked to perfection. Everything was clean and well cared for. Breakfast exceeded expectations. We would have given them a 5-star rating but it is probably time for a remodel. Things are starting to show their age. I wouldn't go for a casual stroll outside the property in the dark. Perfect for our needs.
Came in to see my father in law who was having heart surgery. The lady working the front desk was great although VERY BUSY. Check in took a few minutes but she told us she was new and she was very nice so it wasn't a problem for us. She was very helpful and spoke to us as soon as we walked in and made us feel like a priority. The rooms were great. The sheets actually smell good! Location is convenient, right off the highway, but not many places nearby to go eat at aside from a bbq place. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Friendly staff and good, clean rooms.
We will sum-up our two-night stay with a pros/cons listing: PROS: (1) Other than the bed, the front desk was the best part of the stay! They were friendly and happily helped with everything we asked of them. (2) The king bed was very comfortable. It had a firmer mattress and was properly secured, so that movement was not felt by the other person in the bed. (3) The room and the bathroom were both very spacious and offered plenty of room for our family. Maybe this was due to the handicap accessibility, but I can't say for sure. (4) The price of the room was about right. Although, it was the right price at the significantly discounted "friends and family" rate we booked with. (5) The location of the hotel was nice, as it was right next to the interstate. CONS: (1) There was an awful and very pronounced smoke (and at times marijuana) smell in the stairwell by the pool. Because people use this door often, the smell often leaked into the hallway, and even into our room. It was simply terrible and disappointing. (2) The room was big, but some parts were dirty. It's obvious that they have made some positive upgrades to the room (e.g. sink area, bed, paint). However, there were some parts that appeared to be left over from a remodel (e.g. carpets, sofa). The sofa had some pretty ugly stains on it. And, some of the blankets we were given had cigarette burns in them. (3) The pool needed a little bit of TLC. There were cigarette butts lying around. And, one of the lights in walls of the pool (under the water level) was detached and floating on top of the water, while still plugged-in. The front-desk did say they would take care of it when I mentioned this. Overall, it was a fairly good experience, but I think if we were back in Jacksonville we would find another place to stay. The positives were good, but the cleanliness of the room really hurt. If the room was cleaner and the smoke smell gone, we might have given this a 4-out-of-5 rating. But, instead, it was 3 and dangerously close to a 2 rating.
I wanted to say that Ms Angie made my wxp experience at this hotel so giid. She made my husband & I feel lije we were at hone. She was very helpful & she addresses us when we walked in with a great smile & she was personable. She made our stay so much better.
Angie, helped me get just the right room. Gave me the best deal. Clean, cool, and cozy. Bed was soooo soft. Like the shower, as well. No complaints, close to all activities. Thank you Angie. Will stay again, and soon. Love the SleepInn!!
I enjoy myself the staff was very professional especially Angie that was very helpful to us what we need it hotel with very clean and a nice area nice swimming pool nice breakfast in the morning clean parking lot and convenient to the interstate.
Had a great time. Good size rooms, good location. The most wonderful receptionist called Angie. So helpful and kind. Gave us great recommendations which made our trip to Jacksonville so memorable. Will come back.
The rooms were okay, but the service was super great, we had some issues and Angie helped us work them out! The smoke kind of smelled everywhere(elevator, lobby, etc.) butit was bearable for short periods of time.
Best Customer Service on the Westside of Jacksonville. The front desk heard about my AC going out at my house in JULY and gave me ther best rate I had found anywhere near my work. The room was already cooled when I entered it. OUTSTANDING!
