On May 26, 2017 my daughters and I went to Comfort Inn located on 333 Roberts Street in East Hartford. There was a family in front of us and the agent at the hotel dealt with the father very nicely. When I approached the desk when it was my turn, I smiled and said Good night. He asked if I had a reservation and I said yes and handed him my ID. He asked for my card and I asked if it was not already in the system since it was prepaid. He began to explain to me the hotel policy as if I was a commoner who had never had the privilege of staying anywhere. I said I understand but I do not appreciate your tone. He was speaking very loud to me and I could barely hear him when he spoke to the other man. Instead of apologizing he handed me my ID and told me that if I do not want to listen to him to leave. And so I did. I walked out furious. It was 1130pm at night and I had a long day traveling from Boston Logan airport to attend a function. He also asked me how many people and I said just the three in front of you. And shouted at me that I cannot have any other guests. Clearly he had implicit assumptions about me. I am very disgusted by this experience and I am writing to tell you that you need to discipline Mani. He did this in front of a new trainee. This is not acceptable. I believe he acted that way towards me because I was a woman. Sexism should not be tolerated in the workplace and hotel industry. In all my years of traveling I have never had such an experience. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?
The stay started out great/5! A kind gentleman operating the front desk upgraded us to a 2-room suite because we were "staying 9 days." The experience went downhill from there. The room's horizontal surfaces were covered in dust and a few dead bugs. The AC was off, so the room was hot; when we turned it on, it began circulating the dust: my wife and I could hardly breathe the first night. The property does a lot of business with transient work crews and short-haul truckers, and we had some great conversation with some of them! However, the night shift seemed to condone groups of the men loitering, drinking and smoking in front of the main entrance. Tonight marks the half-way point of our stay: we buried my mother yesterday, spent time off-site with family, and slept in today. Before we left, we stopped at the front desk, told the attendant we were leaving and needed our room serviced. Upon returning about 9 pm, the room hadn't been touched. We asked the front desk attendant (Chelsea or Kelsey) to provide service, and were told they couldn't, and that the housekeeping crew would not return until "7 or 8 in the morning." We asked her to at least provide clean towels. She told us, "We don't have any." I have traveled regularly for work for 22 years, and this is, hands down, the worst hotel customer service I have experienced. Ever. The only reason I rate them a 2/poor instead of a 1/terrible, is because of the kind gentleman on duty at check-in, Wednesday, 17 May. Don't stay here.
I have a client in the area and stop here regularly. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the coffee is hot in the morning. As long as you are not looking for a multitude of extras, you will be very satisfied. It is a standard hotel that caters to travelers and business people. There are restaurants next door, and a few more very close. For the money, it is a great deal.
Exactly what I had hoped for. Double room was ample & clean. Amenities there if I had forgotten them. Check-in was fast even without a reservation. Breakfast was included which had something for everyone. Fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, sausage, etc. and all served at the appropriate temperature. All is non-smoking
Very clean, comfortable rooms. Great beds! Staff was competent, friendly and appeared to be well-treated by management. Standard, but a good breakfast. Great place for an overnight as it was just off the interstate. First time I've given 5 stars to a hotel.
Let me give you the context here in the beginning. This was not my first choice in search of my two-night stay in Hartford (not because the hotel seemed bad per se, but because I am a public transit-using traveler from out of town). Having said that, my stay was certainly a pleasant one. In most aspects, it is just your above average, mid-range Comfort Inn, with the on-site fitness center, self-laundry service, vending machines, free breakfast, working computers w/ a printer, iced lemon water in the lobby, free USA Today, etc. The staff were generally professional, responsive to my needs/questions and friendly enough, the check-in/check-out process was as quick as it can be, and the room itself was decent, with all the basic necessities covered. Heater was functional, and not too noisy. What is of note was even though the hotel is situated right next to I-84, the noise level was quite tame and it did not hinder my sleeping experience at all. Towels felt slightly old, but no complaints here. My lyft ride to downtown Hartford was around $6-7 before tipping, so it can be said it's pretty accessible to downtown as well. Free breakfast offerings include eggs, omelet, bacon, sausage, hash brown, yogurt (regular and greek), bread/donuts, cereal/packaged oatmeals, select fruits/juices/coffee, oh, and last but not least, a waffle station. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I recommend Comfort Inn & Suites East Hartford to anyone looking into staying in the area.
When you call this hotel the will just say hello, you have no idea where your calling and you can't reserve online and get no confirmation number. This is hotel is right on the highway. You will here trucks all night long. There was hair in the bathtub and on toilet along with other plumbing issues they fixed right away. The staff is very nice and did open breakfast which is included earlier for us because it doesn't open till 7p. You will not get a receipt under your door in the am, you will need to get on from the desk. It is about 6 min drive into Hartford from the hotel. There is no restaurant in the hotel and nothing you can really walk to, it's really in middle of nowhere but convenient to Hartford.
The best thing I can say about this hotel is the bed was comfortable & the location convenient. Building looks good on the exterior, however the interior is rundown and not the cleanest. Cobwebs and dust in several spots in our room, carpet dirty, bathroom very small & just passably clean. The front desk staff were not as hospitable as they should have been. The breakfast was not good, hot items were cold and had to be reheated in the microwave. We will not stay here again nor recommend it to friends or family.
Stayed a night for a business trip and the room is good. It was clean and not the biggest room but it does for a night stay. The room shows its age a bit, but it is well maintained! The area near the hotel does not have much there is a Mexican restaurant across the street and that is about all. If needing a clean room I recommend it, it's nothing too special though. You can also hear those above you when they shower or use their water, so that sucks.
The room are clean and comfortable and the towels are soft the gym is very small. Breakfast isn't bad. I would stay here again. (I'm not sure what the neighborhood is like. I didn't walk around except to go to the restaurant right next door. )
