Houston is a high-energy city and the cultural hub of Texas. You can go from Broadway shows in the Theater District to barbecue in the Heights. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) can fly you to Houston in less than two and a half hours. The airport is right off of I-10 and is also accessed from the PHX Sky Train. The train takes travelers from the Valley Metro Rail Station at 44th and Washington to the airport terminals.
Houston is a large city with so much going on, but the downtown will grab everyone s attention. A good way to get a look at the city is from the Chase Tower Observatory on the 60th floor. Many of the city s museums, an aquarium and a zoo are bunched together around the downtown Hermann Park. For lunch, take a walk down under into the Downtown Tunnel system, which offers an endless array of restaurants and shops. If you need to take a rest, then take time to check out the Market Square Park centered near many of the historic buildings.
When you fly from Phoenix to Houston, TX, you ll land at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). IAH is 40 minutes from downtown and can be reached from Interstate 45 and the Sam Houston Toll Road. Public bus service to the city leaves from Terminal C of the airport. The Houston Livestock and Rodeo in March is the largest event of its kind. Houston has a humid subtropical climate, with summer temperatures often reaching over 90 degrees, while winter temperatures average around the low 50s.
