The least expensive parking option is one of the value lots, which costs between $15 and $18 a day; the airport provides transportation from these lots to the terminal via the LINK train. If you don’t want to leave your car at the airport, you can take a taxi or bus. Be aware that taxi companies are allowed to levy a fuel surcharge on passengers.
Miami lies along the Atlantic coastline of southeastern Florida. Travelers arrive at Miami International Airport, located about eight miles northwest of downtown Miami. You can get into the city by train, shuttle, taxi, or rental car. The Metrorail Green and Orange Lines will take you to a variety of destinations throughout the Miami area for a one-way fare of $2. American Shuttle will transport you to your hotel for a cost of between $11 and $37, depending on the distance to your destination. Flat-rate taxi fares start at $10. If you want to explore Miami on your own, you can rent a vehicle from one of sixteen on-site car rental agencies, such as Avis or Budget. Family-friendly attractions include the Miami Children’s Museum and Zoo Miami. Miami has short, warm winters and hot, humid summers. Temperatures in the winter are typically in the high 70s, while summer highs can average 90°F. The rainy season runs between May and mid-October, so be sure to pack your raingear if you visit during these months.
