Houston is the fourth most populated city in the USA, and there is certainly a lot on offer. The city is larger than life and sprawling, made up of separate districts with much to offer.
When you visit Houston don't spend all of your time Downtown; go and see the Museum district for a dose of culture, the River Oaks district for shopping and upscale eateries, and Washington Avenue for the most exciting nightlife.
Renting a car is definitely advisable in Houston as probably the area's biggest attraction is the NASA Space Centre, which is located 45 minutes outside of Houston City, in Clear Lake.
After flying into William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), visitors will find the airport is well serviced for ground transportation, including a Metro bus service into the city, found at Curbzone 13 outside the baggage claim area. Taxis and car rentals are available too, and if you do rent a car, the airport is only seven miles from Houston CBD. The entire city is easily accessible by freeway straight from the airport.
Hints and tips
Galveston Island, is well worth a visit too, and is located 50 miles southeast of the city. It s the ideal destination if you fancy some beach time and a trip to the island's tropical Moody Gardens.
