If you decide to drive yourself to the airport, you should have no difficulty finding a place to park. The airport has more than 19,000 parking spaces available, including two covered parking garages. If you need long-term parking, park in the green lot.

You can grab a bite to eat inside the airport. You have your choice of Mexican, Asian, or European dishes, as well as fast food and snacks. Several vending machines are also available throughout the terminals.

Flights to Las Vegas arrive at McCarran International Airport, a major commercial airport located 5 miles south of downtown. If you are traveling from downtown to the airport, it should take you about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Western Cab Company and Ace Cab, among other taxi companies, can give you a ride to the airport. Many of the hotels in Las Vegas offer free shuttle service from the airport. If you'd like to rent a car, Budget, Hertz, and National car rental companies, among others, have depots at the airport.

The best time to visit Las Vegas is during the winter, because prices are typically at their lowest. Winter temperatures typically only drop into the low 30s or low 40s degrees Fahrenheit. Summers start around mid-May and are generally very hot, with average temperatures reaching in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. June and July usually receive a great deal of rain, and oftentimes the streets may become flooded.

While in Las Vegas, you will want to visit the Strip, particularly Fremont Street, which is lit up by neon signs after the sun sets. Although it is not located in downtown Las Vegas, the Strip has numerous gambling and entertainment establishments. During the day, you might also check out Red Rock Canyon Natural Conservation Area and Vegas Indoor Skydiving.
