Make your escape to exotic, fascinating Asia with a flight from Honolulu to Tokyo booked on Orbitz.com. From ancient temples to bustling urban districts, Tokyo has it all. Whether you are interested in technology, history, culture, fine dining, or shopping, you will find plenty of things to explore and discover in this exciting Japanese city.
All flights from Honolulu leave from Honolulu International Airport, the largest airport in the Hawaiian Islands. This airport is about 6 miles from downtown Honolulu and 10 miles from Waikiki. Many airlines offer nonstop flights between the Honolulu and Tokyo, including United, Delta, and Hawaiian Airlines. Alternately, you may be able to find deals on Orbitz.com for cheaper single-stop flights.
If you drive to the airport and plan to leave your car there while you are abroad, you will need to park your car in the economy lot, which is intended for parking periods of more than two days, or the Overseas Parking Garage, located across from the Overseas Terminal. You may prefer to arrive at the airport via taxi, public bus, or airport shuttle. While you wait to board your flight, you can enjoy a meal or snack at one of the many restaurants, fast food venues, or coffee shops located in the airport. Food and beverage options at the airport include Burger King, Starbucks, Tequileria Restaurante y Cantina, and Kona Brewing Company.
Tokyo, the most populous city in the world, is a study in contrasts. From shopping at boutiques selling the latest in technology to visiting historic sites that are centuries old, you can find hundreds of things to see and do in Tokyo. Explore the markets of Tokyo for a glimpse into local life, or visit the incredible shrines and temples that still stand proud amidst glittering modern skyscrapers.
There are two airports serving Tokyo: Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport, also known as Tokyo International Airport. If you are traveling on a direct flight from Honolulu, you are likely to arrive at Narita International Airport, which handles the majority of international flights into Tokyo. Haneda Airport focuses mainly on domestic flights, but some international flights that stop in other Japanese or Asian cities land at this airport. Public transportation, including train services, and taxis are popular ways to get from either airport into central Tokyo. You can also rent a car at either airport and drive into town yourself. Car rental companies at the airport are all local chains, such as Nippon, Japanren, and Mazda Car Rental.
One must-see area of Tokyo is the Roppongi Hills, home to the 54-story Mori Tower, a great deal of public art, an ancient samurai garden, and the Tokyo City View observatory. History buffs will enjoy visiting the Imperial Palace and one or more of the shrines that dot the city, such as Asakusa-jinja or Meiji-jingÅ«. Families with kids will enjoy visiting the Tokyo Dome and Tokyo Metropolitan Children's Hall. For an escape from the hustle and bustle, visit Ueno Park or the Koishikawa KÅraku Garden.
Japan's most exciting city is busy throughout the year, but summer is the prime tourist season, so prices tend to be higher for travel at that time. June and July tend to be rainy and hot, and when the rains stop in August, average highs rise into the high 80s. September, October, and November are cooler, and the changing colors of the trees make fall one of the most beautiful times to visit Tokyo. Winters are clear and cold, although average temperatures do stay above freezing. Many visitors like to visit Tokyo in the spring, when the cherry blossoms are blooming and temperatures tend to be in the 50s and 60s.
No matter what your interests, from seeing modern marvels to immersing yourself in an exotic foreign culture, you can find what you are looking for in Tokyo. To start planning your trip, search Orbitz.com for great deals on air tickets from Honolulu to Tokyo, discount accommodations, and tickets to popular attractions.
