Some people may catch a flight to Narita in order to be there for one of the cities many annual events and festivals. These include the likes of Hatsu-mode, which is the first temple visit of the year that always takes place on New Year's Day, and the drumming festival Narita Taiko Festival. Other annual events include the Setsubun-e, which pays respects to sumo wrestlers.
Narita also offers a variety of other attractions for tourists to explore such as the Buddhist temple. Known as the Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, it was built in 904AD, and is the city's single most visited site. The complex includes a park and the street that leads to the temple is lined with centuries old restaurants and small, traditional craft shops.
Flights to Narita International Airport (NRT) will take visitors to within fifty eight kilometers of Narita's Tokyo Station. It handles more than thirty five million passengers every year, and offers buses and taxi services. By far the fastest way to get to Tokyo however, is the JR Narita Express train, which takes just one hour.
