The staff is friendly, the surroundings are attractive, rooms are clean, breakfast was good but when you are traveling you need to be able to sleep. This didn't happen for us! Our room was at the front of the building so you could hear every truck, car and motorcycle all night long from Highway 301's 4 lanes of traffic. Neighboring doors hit hard and loud when they closed and sounded like a bomb going off. The walls are a bit thin. Needless to say we were exhausted the next day when we had to continue our travels. Perhaps the rooms at the back of the building could be quieter.
OK, I understand not every IHG property can be great, but this was disappointing. The air conditioner in our room was broke. We were moved, with no problems, to a room where the carpets and sofa were cleaned and still wet. The room smelled heavily of cleaning solution. My sister-in-law's room had an extremely noisy refrigerator. The front desk listened politely but offered no apologies or solutions. I think the staff needs a refresher on problem solving as thus property suffers when compared to other HIE properties.
We just stayed here one night before a bike ride in Indian Head. The location was great for this purpose! The front desk staff was friendly and check in easy. Our room was clean and clearly had been redone sometime recently. Bed was comfy, bathroom clean and room had a nice amount of furniture. Breakfast starts at 6:30 and was typical, but still good. They had both hot food and cereals/oatmeal, etc. We would easily stay here again!
Great location for recreation and rooms a good size. Downside is management response to challenges very poor and Customer service terrible. Had on full evening with no hot water and assistance nonexistent. No help nor allowance for inconvenience. Holiday Inn Customer service blames local manager, local manager blames someone else. Be aware when attending this place. Breakfast buffet very good and attending staff understanding and accommodating.
This wasn't outstanding in any way, good or bad. It was just a nice, clean place to stay for not a lot of money. It's located across the highway from the police station, so that felt pretty good security-wise. It has a decent-sized parking lot, was fairly quiet, friendly staff and a better-than-average selection of items for its continental breakfast. I'd definitely stay here again.
1) Was told we would have 2 pm late check-out time; when we got there, was told it would only be 1 pm late check-out time since they were going to be busy the next day. At 10:30 am, the housekeeper started pounding on the door wanting to clean the room. After 4 times of doing this & opening the door (invading our privacy!), she started yelling at us. We called front desk who said we were down for late check-out but had not informed housekeeping. ??? Very upsetting!! 2) Faucet put out scalding hot water, enough to cause very bad burns. BEWARE if you have children! I heard others complaining at the front desk about this as well. 3) Toilet did not flush properly & caused all kinds of bad issues. 4) Coffeemaker was zip tied in a way that made it impossible to plug in where the plug was located. Had to pull it across the room (very difficult to do this!) to plug it in & then it powered up but didn't work. Why????? 5) Bathroom has NO vent & on a 95 degree day, it felt like a SAUNA. Air conditioner is one of the old models that only cools where it's located. 6) TV is VERY slow to respond to the remote control, IF it does at all. Very frustrating & there was no guide to tell us what was on where. 7) Lobby has very strong chemical smells that make breathing difficult & burns the eyes. If you want a peaceful, enjoyable stay, stay elsewhere!
My husband and 3 children traveled to La Plata, MD for a family event this past week. We are longstanding Holiday Inn loyal customers for approximately 8 years. We take at least one trip to La Plata annually and 1 family vacation per year and typically stay at Holiday Inn property. While the Holiday Inn line may not have the most lavish accommodations, we generally find their properties to be clean, spacious and a decent value for our money, especially given that we typically need a larger room This was our second visit to this particular Holiday Inn Express property. We made our reservation one month in advance and arrived at approximately 11pm at night after flights from CT to DCA, obtaining rental car and then a 1 hour drive from the airport. As you can imagine, we were very tired from over 6 hour of travel door to door, with a 9, 5 and 3 year old. The front desk attendant greeted us warmly and was very professional. My mom had already arrived and so she was aware that we would be coming in soon. Upon arriving at our room, however, with our 4 bags on the valet cart, we walked into a filthy room that had not been cleaned from the prior guests. Beds were unmade and sheets all over the floor, including towels. Food was in the room and had not been cleaned up. The bathroom was dirty from prior guests. We immediately called the front desk and the lovely lady was shocked and immediately apologized. She moved us to another room right away. She also said that this was not the Holiday Inn Express standard and that she was leaving a note for management to make an adjustment to our account or add additional points for the inconvenience. The following night the same lovely lady indicated she reported to management. She was very responsive and professional. Two days past and we never heard from management. Not even a phone call. I inquired at the front desk and the attendant saw no notation on the account. I explained what happened and she indicated she does not generally interact with management. She provided me with a business card to contact the General Manager directly. I expressed that I did not think as a customer that I should have to track management down and that she should follow-up to convey the matter to management. In general the property is well kept and clean. The fitness room is well equipped and the pool, is small, (indoor), but clean and accommodating. There was not a large number using the pool so the size was more than adequate for a fun dip. In general I may stay here again. I think that at least management could do is leave a note of apology. Either there was a breakdown of communication on the status of rooms or quality control should be addressed. In any event, people are only human. But in the hospitality industry, management should step up in a timely fashion to correct this major slip-up, restore credibility and ensure a positive perception with their customer. Two days and still unresolved is not acceptable. Customer service from this perspective needs improvement. Should you be concerned with stay here? No, but if an issue arises, do not be surprised if management is not timely in response.I want to thank the young lady at the front desk for nights one and two in the evening, as she represented true hospitality. Kudos and management should learn from her.
Hotel is clean and staffed with great people. Have stayed here multiple times during our house renovation. Breakfast is OK. Pool too cold during our stay. Our room is always clean and beds are very comfortable.
I can't tell you how extremely disappointed I am. First of all let me say that there aren't many hotels in the area. I have stayed at countless IHG Hotels. This one has made the list of the worst of them all! First day I arrive there's someone's toe nail on the floor. Yuck! That further let me know that they did not clean the floor. Every single cloth and towel was dingy. They are suppose to be white, but they appeared to be off white. The couch had stains all over it. Day 2, I get ready to take a shower and as I opened the floor towel, there are dirt spots all over the towel. My last night....There were black specs of dirt on one of the towels. I attached images, but it's hard to see the full extent of how disgusting things were. And the list goes on! Horrible horrible experience from a cleanliness standpoint. The front desk team was super, but cleanliness ruined this rating. I spend the better part of my life on the road. When I stay at a hotel it is my home away from home. A great hotel can keep you from getting home sick too soon in the trip. I was ready to flee day one! I will never stay here again!!
Stayed here for a wedding. The room was great . Comfortable bed and pillows. The indoor pool looked nice but didn't get to take advantage of it. Staff was friendly. Would stay here again . ...................
