Towneplace Suites By Marriott Milpitas

Close to 880 interchange and 237, spacious clean rooms, very friendly staff. The breakfast could be better, but there is a good selection. Note that the stove/oven in the suites is a very small apartment-sized appliance, not a full-sized stove or oven, so if you're planning on doing serious cooking keep that in mind. If you're staying in some buildings there is a bit of street noise, as some buildings are very close to Great Mall Parkway (I didn't find it to be overly intrusive, but it's also not super-quiet).

The room and the property seem fine, but it is noisy. The highway is not too close, but it sounds like it is right outside the window. The guy in the next room was on his phone until 11 PM and then again at 5 AM. He was talking in a normal to low voice, but I could hear his conversation clearly. Between building codes and Marriott standards, I am very surprised Marriott would have a new property like this. Will likely stay somewhere else next time, even if it is more expensive.

Stayed here for three weeks while in Santa Clara on business. It must be said that this was one of the only reputable brand properties in the area with a reasonable rate at the time I booked, which is great for those who need to travel to Silicon Valley on business. The rooms are suites, divided into separate living and sleeping areas, which is nice at this price point and feels upscale. The kitchenette with full-size refrigerator is great if you are staying a week or more. The hotel is oddly divided across two buildings. All three weeks I stayed in the building that does not contain the front desk area and pool. Not really a big deal, but this building is long and narrow and only has a single elevator at one end. If you are staying on the 3rd or 4th floor and schlepping luggage, this can be somewhat inconvenient. The breakfast area, such as it is, leaves something to be desired, as it is crammed into the lobby area, and there is little seating. It is clear that the space was not designed to host breakfast. Perhaps in recognition of this, the hotel provides bags so you can "grab 'n go" with a yogurt, banana, muffin, etc. One of the weeks I was there, I had no transportation in the evening; I was looking for a sweet snack, and the only real dessert-ish items available were tiny containers of Haagen-Dazs ice cream -- vanilla only. I probably didn't need it, but it would be nice to have a better selection of goodies for road warriors, who are a large proportion of the customers of such a hotel. It is another reason that the kitchenette is a VERY nice feature. The location next to Great Mall will be desirable to a lot of people and offers numerous dining options. One caveat: As of May 2017, the immediate area is in the midst of a road construction boom, so traffic can be a mess at peak times.

I've been staying at this hotel every quarter since 2013. It is a great hotel with very helpful and cheerful staff. It is equipped with a mini- kitchen as well as gym, self- use laundry The only reason to rate '4' is because the breakfast area is small and doesn't have food spread of fruits

We stayed there for one night and it was awesome! We didn't hear any trains or anything but enjoyed the room. The staff was friendly and when we needed something, they were there right away. Parking was great and free which is always a plus in the bay area. The kids enjoyed the pool for a little bit because it was a nice day. We loved the continental breakfast offered.

We stayed for more than a week here, so there was sufficient time to observe services and facilities. POSITIVES: The room was clean, we liked the big windows that gave us a view of the car in the parking lot. We liked watching the trains pass by from across the street, and hearing the birds humming in the morning. The place is just across the Great Mall which is very convenient. Lots of power outlets for those with tons of gadgets and the room has an office table for guests that need a working space. Lots of cabinets and drawers to keep things organized. Laundry has free detergent, and free fabric softener. (But read on further on this) NEGATIVES: Where to begin? The kitchen had no spoons, only teaspoons, forks and knives. The lights in the room are all yellow and dark, the brightest part of the room is the toilet. It is a studio apartment so there is a living room that should be well lit. The cooking stove makes use of the old fashioned coil that glows, when conduction stoves are so much cheaper and safer these days. The gym was too small and makes one feel claustrophobic. The breakfast are all carbs (bread and pastries) but no protein (eggs, sausages, etc.), nor hot food. One day, we left the room at 12noon and made sure we remove the 'do not disturb' sign, hoping that housekeeping will come to clean up, since they were already on the floor. We came back to the room at 5pm and the room was not cleaned up. On another day, we left the room at 12noon and made sure we left an instruction at the front desk to have the room cleaned up. We came back to the room at 4pm and the room was not yet cleaned up. We washed some clothes in the laundry room and I was thrilled that all I have to do is push the button for the detergent source that sends liquid soap directly inside the washer. However, after 30 minutes of washing, i checked the clothes and noticed that the stains on the clothes were still there. I therefore checked the liquid that was coming out of the detergent source and realized that it was just water coming out of it, and no soap. So, I had to move all the clothes to another machine that was discharging liquid detergent and run another load. I reported the situation and I was refunded for the additional load that I had to run. The drier is another story. One drying takes 45 minutes. After 1 run, I checked the clothes and they were still as wet as when I took them out of the washing machine. I put in another dollar for yet another 45 minutes run. Afterwards the clothes are still damp. I ran a 3rd round for yet another 45 minutes, making the drying process a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. All the clothes were still damp, even the silkiest and thinnest of material, that I still had to hang everything around the room to dry them up. We told the front desk about this but all they could do is refund the additional spins, but to me, the more important loss is the series of 45 minutes that kept us staying in the room instead of being able to go out. On another day, I tried washing again, hoping that I will not have the same problem if I use another drying machine. But I was wrong. I only repeated the same story. We also had 2 amazon deliveries using this address. When we asked if there are packages for me, the front desk simply said they do not. When we checked the package tracker of amazon, it was clear that the items have been delivered. We therefore went to the front desk again and asked. They looked at packages delivered and found one box for me. As for the 2nd box, we were told that they did not accept it because it did not bear the room number and I was not the registered guest name. I could never miss the room number because I know that there are many people in this property. I checked my amazon record and I have clearly indicated the Room number, I have proof of that. If one package made it to this address, and if the orders were made at the same time in one click, how can one package be missing? I have a feeling that they did not look well into the addressee and simply rejected it when they saw that my name was not the registered guest, without paying attention to whether or not there is a room number. They promised that they will inform the US Postal Service to deliver that box again, which was on a Friday. My expectation is that they would communicate it with the USPS on a Saturday, and then expect it to be delivered Sunday. Front desk said my understanding was correct. Came Sunday morning, I went out of the hotel and ran into USPS guy, and asked if he has a box for me. He said none. We checked out of the hotel Monday afternoon and still no USPS delivery for me. So there goes my box. Overall, there is no way we will ever come back to this place.

Stayed in Townplace Suites for 4 weeks in September. Great location - walking distance to the mall, the cinema and close to several restaurants. Used the laundry service which was efficient although fairly expensive in my view. My wife came to visit for 10 days, lazed by the pool most days. You also get to use next door Courtyard facilities - has nicer pool area and gym. Overall hotel is clean & tidy, provides traveler with well equipped kitchen should you wish to cook evening meals. But why bother when there are so many restaurants close by.

Surprised to get such a big suite for the price. Clean kitchen, great living room, 2 TV sets. Close to the Great Mall and Movie theaters. Easy to check in and settle in. Convenient, comfortable, simple.

Immaculately Clean room with everything you need! Nice ground floor room with a view of your parked car when you look outside the nice window. Courteous hotel employees, quiet and convenient location. Will surely come back here.

We spent one night at this hotel. The room was perfect for its purpose. Check-in was smooth and quick, assisted by friendly and well-trained staff. They even let me park in their lot a few extra days following my stay, while I had to fly out from the nearby airport.
