Hotel Pacific is perfectly situated in downtown Monterey, just a short walk from Fisherman’s Wharf, great restaurants, and whale watching tours—ideal for exploring without needing a car everywhere. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was very spacious with nice touches like a private outdoor patio, cozy fireplace (perfect for a romantic evening), bar sink, mini fridge, and microwave—super convenient for longer stays. The decor feels a bit dated, and there’s no air conditioning (just radiant heaters), so the room can get stuffy— we kept the windows open for breeze, which worked fine. The bed was decently comfortable, though the pillows were on the thin side. Staff were professional and courteous throughout our stay. The free continental breakfast is simple but gets the job done—mostly cold items with a few warm options. One heads-up: The underground garage has very tight parking spots, so it can be a bit challenging if you have a larger vehicle. Overall, for the price (noticeably lower than many comparable spots in the area), it’s a solid choice with charm and prime location. We’d stay again for a Monterey getaway!

The room was spacious and clean. Has a gas fireplace and a large TV. Bed is comfy but pillows need to be replaced. A small Bottled water is $2.50...not free. Free breakfast is so-so...no bacon,sausage and eggs. Noisy in the morning with other guests banging their doors and cleaners rolling their noisy carts on the uneven floors. Service was excellent, though.

Room was spotless and we love having the fireplace which makes it cozy. However it does not appear to be very busy (maybe because it’s Christmas) yet we were put in a room with the only windows in the room facing walls with no view and very little natural light. On previous visits we were given rooms with a street view and balcony. Perhaps we were given this dreary room because we brought our little dog?

The staff for check in and questions needs training on customer service. Not engaging or helpful at all. Our room was not cleaned the first time as scheduled but they treated it like it was no big deal and I was bothering them. The said cleaning staff was very busy and might not have time? Why schedule at time to have your room cleaned then? I understand mistakes happen it’s the way you handle them that counts and that was not the way. Three hours later we got new towels and trash taken out no new bed sheets or cleaning. The rooms need some updating, the bed was not very comfortable, and the toilet paper was the cheapest ever. The bed sheets were the same quality as the toilet paper cheap. A few tweaks that really wouldn’t cost that much money would have made the room so much better. The good was the buffet as the staff who ran this did a great job. Very helpful, pleasant, and the food was good. You could tell they cared and made each guest feel welcome. Maybe they could train the front desk staff?

I highly recommend this place for its location — it’s very beautiful and clean. The value for money is good. I would improve the breakfast, as there aren’t many options, but overall it’s fine. The hot tub is small and outdoors, but it works well.

The roll over sofa is like you sleeping on the rocks. They need to put a new one 💯. There was no shampoo at all. For people of 3 it only 1 towel. And yes I definitely can go and ask ,no problem, but do I have to??? I think if I pay for something, I would like to have it. I don't think I have to point out to people about something that need to be done when hotel was setting up our room.

We have stayed at the HP for years….always a favorite. One highlight has always been the expansive hot breakfast. We were VERY disappointed this time and might reconsider future stays. The breakfast was stripped down and minimal with just cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, and bread. Very disappointed. We even planned on the typical hearty breakfast when making our itinerary. Very disappointed.

For the money you pay you can better breakfast and other service. You go to an hotel to relax not to get stressed. Breakfast was felt like Motel 6 or 8. The lift was broken and they have given us a room on 4th floor. I had to carry 2 suite-cases all by myself. The internet was broken throughout our stay. They was a puddle of water just outside our room.

This is a very charming hotel in the Old Town section of Monterey. Easy access to restaurants and tourist spots. We loved our room with the gas fireplace and cute balcony. It also had a very nice size bathroom. We also enjoyed the free breakfast, in a very welcoming space.
