Hotel Pacific is perfectly situated in downtown Monterey, just a short walk from Fisherman’s Wharf, great restaurants, and whale watching tours—ideal for exploring without needing a car everywhere. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was very spacious with nice touches like a private outdoor patio, cozy fireplace (perfect for a romantic evening), bar sink, mini fridge, and microwave—super convenient for longer stays. The decor feels a bit dated, and there’s no air conditioning (just radiant heaters), so the room can get stuffy— we kept the windows open for breeze, which worked fine. The bed was decently comfortable, though the pillows were on the thin side. Staff were professional and courteous throughout our stay. The free continental breakfast is simple but gets the job done—mostly cold items with a few warm options. One heads-up: The underground garage has very tight parking spots, so it can be a bit challenging if you have a larger vehicle. Overall, for the price (noticeably lower than many comparable spots in the area), it’s a solid choice with charm and prime location. We’d stay again for a Monterey getaway!

Very clean! Overall a lovely place for a great price! A few things got us off on the wrong foot- when we arrived (atfer 4:00) the carpet in our room was wet. Apparently they had just shampooed it, which is awesome, but like still wet. They offered to move us but I was exhausted after lugging everything up with 2 kids, and a super clumsy luggage cart that couldn't turn corners, so instead we just turned on the fan and opened the balcony door. It dried eventually. The breakfast was nice, for being free. Pretty standard- bagels, cereal, juice... which is great! But both mornings, there was ONE woman working. Keeping it stocked, cleaning tables, washing dishes. It's an unreasonable amount of work for that one poor woman. She did an amazing job but people kept having to ask for things, like bowls for the cereal. She just couldn't keep up. There were a few minor annoyances like that, but again- really great value. The room was huge and clean, with a cozy fireplace. Not at all soundproof unfortunately, but the beds were comfy and it was overall a pleasant stay.

The location of Hotel Pacific is hard to beat. The proximity to Fisherman’s Wharf and Alvarado Street is fantastic, and it’s a half hour walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The architecture of the property is wonderful, with a Spanish flair, but there is some deferred maintenance. Our two bed suite was more updated, clean, lovely and large. We were on the top floor so we had a vaulted ceiling, and the gas fire place adds wonderful ambiance. The breakfast does not include any hot food, and is mainly bagels, muffins, yogurt, etc, but it’s not why we like staying there. This is our 3rd time staying at the property, and we would be happy to stay again.

Only problem we had was upon check in our elevator to our section of rooms was out of service and they didn’t notify us until after we went to use it (we had to go to the 3rd floor with my elderly grandma). We went back into the office and requested a different room but it was very inconvenient and there was a possibility they wouldn’t have a different room. Very unprofessional of the office staff.

We reserved the luxury room to enjoy , we found that the fire place is not working, lot of spiders web around the exit patio door , we reserved upper level , they give us lower one close to dirts. Breakfast was terrible and only 1 lady over all the breakfast time. We did not able to find anything to eat except bagel and toast. The bad thing that we asked about egg plain and we found that the egg was full of beans and some other meats where we don t eat so our experience was terrible.

I would’ve given a 5 star review but ….we were told to use a certain elevator, possibly the only elevator that takes us to our room on the third floor, but it was “out of service”. My husband is 73 and carried a lot of luggage up 3 flights of stairs. I feel more communication between staff and guests would be helpful. We’ve stayed there once before with no complaints.

This might have been the dirtiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. My daughter wanted to take a bath, and as I started the water, I noticed multiple hairs throughout the bath tub (long and short, different colors). The bath towel that was placed on the rack had a very noticeable food particle stuck to it. Tjere was also a large hair on the wall in the bathroom where the toilet is. There was a large hair tie on the floor, in open space (not under furniture or anything). All of this was indicative of poor cleanliness and sanitation practices, but it was late at night that we discovered these things and we were too exhausted to request a new room. For about $300 for the night (including $22 to park in their garage that has *extremely* tight parking spaces), I expected better maintenance. The room itself was fine and nice, but due to the lack of cleanliness, I would not recommend this hotel.
