We were incredibly impressed with everything at this hotel. The staff, the lounge, the room, the beds, the pillows, everything was wonderful! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good place in the Saint Paul Riverfront area.
This is really more 3 1/2 rating than a three rating. I liked a lot about the hotel. The service is especially good. The room was cramped and really dark and I selected a slightly upgraded room. The restaurants food was just okay, almost like they were trying to hard. I had a little dinner there and tried lunch the next day. I've had lunch there a few times and it's always really slow so don't go if you're in a hurry. I would go again.
Great Stay..... Upgraded to a suite, had some champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a note awaiting in my room from the front desk clerk " Caleea", who showed great customer service from the beginning to the end. Thanks a lot Caleea our stay was beyond amazing we will be back sooner than later!
I have mixed emotions writing this review. Some aspects of the stay were truly impressive but others were very disappointing. I was part of a group meeting at the hotel for a convention. Hats-off to the catering staff - the food was really excellent across the board. We had two 200-300 people luncheons in a really nice room with the best large-scale meals I have ever had - One was a nicely prepared chicken and green bean dish, the other was salmon. Both were first-rate, restaurant quality. Their continental breakfast buffet featured house-made croissants and muffins, yogurt, oatmeal and fresh fruit and was rock-solid. Their afternoon cookie bar was awesome and their staff did a great job keeping water dispensers filled in each of our workshop/meeting rooms. I must say that I'm glad the experience of one member of our group happened AFTER I'd checked out and eaten my final delicious morsel at the hotel - He came out of the lobby-level bathroom shaking his head. "I just saw the biggest cockroach ever - it was a real bruiser," he told our group. When it comes to the guest rooms, the majority of our group complained about thin walls - I could hear conversations next door and my boss could even hear them in a room across the hall. When she called the front desk, they delivered ear plugs in under 5 minutes. If you're accustomed to big-city 4/5 star hotels, you will find the other features of the room up to par -the soaps/shampoos, etc. were really nice and it was helpful to have a robe (it's definitely made for smaller guests). The bath towels were over-sized and the bed and furnishings were nice. My room featured a giant window that looked out on a concrete wall just a few feet away. The one area that they differ from top chains like the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton is in the overall demeanor of the staff. When you pass another employee at those properties, whether they're a catering person, maid or maintenance person, they look up and smile and greet you as they pass. Not this hotel - most staff seemed stressed and never bothered to look at you or say "hi." That's a little thing that makes a BIG negative impression compared to other high-end properties. The gym was immaculate and nice and featured complimentary fruit and towels and the hotel's location is good, near a new and terrific restaurant, Gray Duck. We went their twice for dinner. So overall, I'd say the catering chefs deserve 5 stars, the service about 2 and whole giant bug in the public bathroom was really unfortunate.
I recently stayed at the Intercontinental Riverfront downtown St. Paul while traveling on business. I truly believe that this is the best hotel in St. Paul. From the excellent service and helpful staff, to the amenities and dining options, the customer experience they create is top notch. During my stay I was warmly greeted by the front desk, given a room with a beautiful view of the St. Paul riverfront, able to get in a full workout in the fitness center, as well as enjoy a delightful meal in the lobby restaurant. I travel a lot for business and though being on the road isn't always ideal, I look forward to staying at the Intercontinental and you will too.
Days later I am still thinking about my awesome bed! I slept so well, which isn’t always the case in a hotel. There were plenty of well-located outlets and great light for a few hours of work. Good food nearby.
Came down here last year for the pizza expo in April. Will probably be staying there this April again. Clean rooms, nice staff, check in was fast and easy. Very close to Xcel Center, right along the river.
We stayed at the Intercontinental after a concert at the Xcel stadium and it was a very nice hotel. We were upgraded to a business king size room on a high floor and it was a corner room so it was very spacious. The view was fantastic. The bathroom was very nice and it had a nice bit TV also. The bed was pretty comfortable, but I was kind of stiff the next morning. Staff was fantastic. I would stay here if in St. Paul again as the location was very convenient. Overnight parking was $18.
I recently had the opportunity to stay at the InterContinental Riverfront and had a terrific week. The hotel is clean and modern with some outstanding riverfront views and although busy you did not notice it. A very special thank you to Tabatha P at the front desk who was extremely accommodating, professional and helpful during my entire visit. The hotel restaurant Citizen was also a nice feature, the restaurant and room service staff were very friendly and their service was exceptional.
Great experience overall! Friendly staff from the front desk to housekeeping! We stayed here for the convenience it offered when attending a concert nearby! We did use the skywalk, and as convenient as it was I would recommend having someone with you if walking this way at night. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We also enjoyed the restaurant located in the hotel lobby, as well as the coffee shop with delicious pastries!
