We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was clean and the breakfast was better than most Quality Inns (more choices). The bed was comfortable. The front desk was friendly. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub and pool, but they had outdoor facilities.
Staff were very pleasant and very helpful with information around the town. Rooms were a little small for 4 adults but we managed. At least the bed was comfortable. The motel offered a small complimentary breakfast just enough to start the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends should they visit Merced.
We stayed a couple of nights and when we checked in it was fine. The room was not!!! Empty can in the corner, ice bucket in fridge with melted water, coffee machine carafe dirty with coffee filter still in the machine. Bathroom towel rack was broken, toilet paper not refilled. Wires out next to AC (seemed like old phone wires). Floor not vacuumed. Staff was great though we advised if the issues and they noted all the issues. wish we had at least filed a formal complaint and should have been told the room would be cleaned asap. There were no other rooms in town so really no options to leave.
even those the hotel is off the beaten path off motel dr. this is one of the best hotels in all of merced. great rooms , very clean, great staff and ok location. on motel dr., but it in a better area then the hotels on 16th. clean area, not all the homless people. nice clean rooms,wi-fi, swimming pool
While staying here in July my car was broken into and we were robbed. My doors were locked. The window on the passenger side was busted and items were stolen from the console, dash and glove compartment. The robbers did not open the door as the alarm would have sounded. There was no security camera and no security folks checking the parking lot for the Quality Inn nor the Marriott next door. Breaking into and robbing vehicles is a common occurrence according to the police who came to take our report. The exterior of my care had $2000 worth of damage from the robbers climbing into my vehicle. Stolen items totaled $1000. My $400 dollar to stay at this motel was very expensive. They need to obtain security.
Checked into room and so did the ants and pincher bugs. Stained carpet and stains on the comforter. Bathroom wasn't all that clean either. Although convenient location right off freeway and close to our weekend destination.
The Quality Inn in Merced was a disappointment in every way possible. After arriving to the hotel, I discovered my room, though comfortably sized, had stains on the sheets. After resolving that issue, I discovered that the shower did not have consistent water pressure nor did it even have hot water. Breakfast the next morning was poorly stocked, and there was only 5 tables for people to sit. Coffee in the lobby area was stale, and despite being informed that the water pitcher was empty, none of the staff attempted to refill it despite multiple request from various guests. After another night of cold water showers, I woke up the next morning to find out that breakfast was yet again low on food. This time though, nothing was replaced. I spoke with the front desk, and they informed me that they had actually run out of food. When I asked what could be done, they informed me that there was only 10 minutes left for breakfast, so it wasn't really a problem any more. When I brought up the fact many of the guests and myself had been waiting for things to be restocked for over 20 minutes, the front desk tried to push the issue off and told me I could purchase snacks at the gas station across the street. Needless, to say, I was happy to finally leave after an incredibly disappointing stay.
The rooms are okay and include some modern upgrades like individual reading lights, microwave, and mini fridge. The location could use some better lighting in some areas of the parking lot. The biggest improvement would be on the Front Desk side, it took multiple calls in order to get a hold of someone.
Checking in was on point and efficient. My room as on the 2nd floor. I'm unaware of how these hotel buildings are constructed from one brand to other, but I'm sure there's a first level standard and then there's a secondary level. If more consideration was put into the building's structural value; I think the complaints dept would be cut in half due to heavy footed individuals and so forth. On one hand, I requested fresh pillow cases after inspection. This was delivered quickly without hesitation. The free internet was sporadic but it didn't ruin my stay. The next morning I was awaken by the light fixture cover rattling and I made a request to fix the problem. Again, no hesitation, efficiency and great customer satisfaction is what was pleasing in this stay. They alleviated the issue and I was glad to wake the 2nd morning without a rattling noise. Yes the hotel is next to the freeway so obviously there's a constant freeway noise. The doors aren't sound proofed and again back to the construction of how this building was put together, they could've made it to where the doors shut more flushed and sealed better. I don't mind the constant noise. I actually like it. Conclusion, it's a good hotel, the staff is very attentive and courteous and the breakfast is abundant and fresh. Be forewarned, if your room faces the pool during the summer, some families are just much more vocally obnoxious that others. I do like this hotel. I've stayed here a handful of times.
Rooms and service are what you would expect of this hotel HOWEVER what you don't appreciate until arrival is the road noise from the highway SO VERY CLOSE. To add to that were the frequent trains that blow their horns at the level crossings also VERY CLOSE BY. I All this after asking for a quiet room. If I could have cancelled the booking and got a refund I would have. My recommendation is spend a few dollars more and look for a place that is quieter.
