Lethbridge Lodge Sandman should have closed this hotel whilst major construction work is carried out. Drilling noise went on all day. The manager advised us not to worry as work did not take place at the weekends. How lucky we were! Given a room on a floor where there was building refuge on the hall carpet. 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door which allowed the sand and plaster dust to go in and settle on the surfaces which had not been cleaned. We were advised that this was the only executive room available which we had booked and guaranteed payment for some three months earlier. So the implication was that it really was our own fault for booking this type of room. I felt insulted at being given a room in such a dreadful state and no inspection having taken place in recent days or maybe even weeks. We were attending a World Curling competition as competitors and game schedule sometimes allowed for some rest in the middle part of the day, however this was often impossible due to loud concrete drilling noise in the floor above our room which meant that the room could not be used by anyone. Apart from this obvious problem there was not a great deal positive to say about this hotel which certainly is in need of refurbishment. Staff were very pleasant and food was reliably pleasant, not too expensive and fairly OK. Glad to leave.
To be honest, we were quite surprised at the comfort of the beds. The other parts of the rooms weren't so modern. But the beds and pillows were fantastic! The hotel appears it is in need of a whole make over, but for the cost and comfort, we were satisfied.
they must be in the process of renovating, but I was in an original condition room. Meaning stains everywhere; carpets, walls, bathroom counters, etc. It just didn't look/feel very clean. That being said, the bar and pool area are really something special, a very cool vibe!
Stayed at Lethbridge Lodge for one night during a flying visit this month. Although it is currently rated last of all the hotels in Lethbridge, I can't really understand why. The room was basic and I was hoping for one of the newly refurbished ones, however had no such look. As it was cheap I really didn't mind and my room was clean and had all my basic requirements. The staff throughout were very helpful and polite. I know it'll take a while to finish all the refurbishments, however once completed it should be a lot better.
While certainly dated, the hotel is currently renovating its rooms (floors 3 and 4 are done), and the updated rooms are quite nice. The really interesting thing about this hotel is the courtyard, which has a 70's-Vegas feel to it, with a pool and walkways over water, and an alcove with a piano and a full bar/cafe. While the hours for food and room service are limited, the staff was very helpful and friendly.
This hotel has a fairly standard restaurant but the real selling features are its beautifully updated rooms and onsite bar next to a few swimming pools in an atrium. Reasonably priced and with an excellent view of the river valley and bridge running out of town. Great for business conferences or family trips.
Decent location by the riverbank so close to certain amenities and restaurants but showing its age. Fortunately, it has just been purchased by Sandman and they are currently upgrading and updating it. Yayyy! Have stayed here several times over the past ten or more years. Walked thru a hallway where the renos are completed and it is much fresher and brighter than the original area so I am looking forward to when all is complete. Since there are no hotels in West Leth, this is one of the most convenient when you are staying in Leth but visiting people on the West side.
We've stayed at this particular hotel many times; we've stayed in hotels around the world countless times. But never have I had a housekeeper who wanted to do our room on checkout day, before we left! We came back from breakfast and she had begun in the bathroom--removing the towels. My husband went in the bathroom to clean his teeth and pack his small bag and she stood in the open hall door waiting! It was about 8:30-9:00 in the morning (and checkout time is 11:00). What if we slept in, she would have cleaned around us? What was the hurry? Regret that I didn't mention it to the desk at the time but we had a card on file to pay and hadn't added any charges, so just walked out when we left--besides, there was a conference and the place was very busy. Generally, everything else was okay to good: breakfast was $10 for a bowl of instant porridge and some fruit; lounge was its usual good service, good food, good atmosphere; quiet sleep; cleanliness was first rate, including the bathroom. Might be time to begin going to a different hotel when we go to L.A.
We enjoyed our stay at Lethbridge Lodge. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Because the hotel was undergoing renovation there was construction noise and dust and often the elevator was in use as furniture was moved in and out. Our room had been updated and was very nice. The meals were good but the breakfast buffet was the same every day. That is fine if you are there for a day but boring when you are there for a week.
Good hotel with nice rooms, service was fine and the upgraded room was quite nice. Common areas(halls) are a little dated but I am not sleeping in the halls. Close to all the downtown restaurants and attractions. would stay here again.
