We were in town for the event and stayed here as it is the sponsoring hotel. Disappointed we had to pay full price (160$) instead of the discounted price for runners. We were on the 4th floor facing the pool area. The room itself is ok and the beds were comfortable. Our a/c did not work even after maintenance looked at it. This made for a very hot and stuffy room. Opening the balcony door was not an option with the noise around the pool area. At 160$ a night I would certainly not stay here again.
Let me preface this review by saying I grew up in Lethbridge and have always loved this hotel. For that reason I have always loyally stayed here when I visit. The last two times though, the beds were so rock hard that I couldn't sleep on them. The one time I slept on the couch cushions and the second time I harassed the night man to bring up several of those foam hotel blankets to put on top of the mattress. This time I was told that I was getting a room with a new bed so I booked again. The "new" bed is the rock hard bed that can't be slept on. I even asked if an upgrade to a renovated suite would change anything and the girl at the desk on check in said that it is the same new bed for all the rooms so it doesn't matter if you pay more - you will still be on the worst bed. I had to bring in a foam in as a topper since I was committed to stay for a few days. What I think should be done: 1) The manager who signed off on these beds for the hotel guests should have to sleep on one in his own home for the 5 years it takes to get all new beds so they know what they will be putting their guests through. 2) They should make the best of things by stocking foam toppers for guests available upon request at a charge or not - but have the option or they will lose customers. Most hotels are creating "sleep experiences" where people ask where they can buy the mattress and bedding after thier stay to bring that experience home. This is the opposite. Hotels buy hard beds when they want the beds to last a looooong time to save money. Most of the time the bad beds outlive the customers since all are forced to go elsewhere to sleep until the mistake is corrected. The hard beds are not any kind of value long term since you lose customer base. I hope the Lodge finds a solution since new counters are nice - but you do go to a hotel room to sleep - the bed should be a priority. Otherwise the atrium is always nice and there are a few staff members that are really good.
We used to stay here every time we visited Lethbridge. But no more. The new owners (Sandman) have disappointed us for the last time. No buffet breakfast weekdays unless the hotel is busy? No answer at the front desk whenever we call (auto attendant just loops around over and over). No answer at Sandman reservations or hotel direct phone line on a Sunday afternoon (had to call in a 2nd time because the first time autoattendant transferred us to hotel front desk which wasn't answering). Tried to book a room using their website - it wouldn't accept the reservation. Room on the first floor was tired and air conditioning wasn't working. Sorry Sandman hotel chain, but there are many choices in Lethbridge with complimentary breakfast and front desk staff who answer the phone.
Visited with 3 other friends. Our stay at the lodge was based of cost but was quite suprised. Of you're looking for somewhere to stay to facilitate your visit you wont go far wrong. It worth a mentio. That the bar staff were alot of fun to talk to. Very helpfull with info on where to go and when. The barmaid even gave us a lift into town after her shift! If i ever goto to letgbridge again i would book here again for the facilities and value for money.
They are still renovating this hotel. The lobby, restaurant and pool atrium area is lovely but the rooms need a little help. We booked this online and all of the photos of the rooms and hotel looked great. The price was average. Not the most and not the cheapest, and we liked the location, close to Indian Battle Park and the Galt Museum, so we booked it. The first room we were given was room # 111 and we changed right away. The A/C did not work and it did not feel right in there. You know when you have that feeling? The front desk accommodated us and gave us another room on the second floor overlooking the atrium ( roof covered area with pool, walkways, tropical plants and trees etc) It would have been nice to open the balcony doors and listen to the waterfall outside the room but it was too hot and we needed the A/C more. The room was very tired indeed. Not like the renovated ones they show online. The carpets were dirty. I did not notice until my hubby had a shower, walked out to get clothes with wet feet and then back into the bathroom and the old Lino flooring was filthy. All of the wooden furniture was marked and banged up and the tv was very small. The bed as comfy and clean so that was good. Staff was great. Breakfast in the restaurant was nice. Pool area is awesome. Not sure if I would go back there.
TJust needed a place for one night and this hotel was perfect. Good location. Clean. The female clerks on duty when I first approached the desk were ok but were quite into a personal conversation between the two of them so I had to wait till they finished. The female manger who actually ended up checking us in was fantastic.... very nice lady and incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Lethbridge...just wished we had a bit more time there to enjoy the pool!
Lethbridge Lodge Sandman should have closed this hotel whilst major construction work is carried out. Drilling noise went on all day. The manager advised us not to worry as work did not take place at the weekends. How lucky we were! Given a room on a floor where there was building refuge on the hall carpet. 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door which allowed the sand and plaster dust to go in and settle on the surfaces which had not been cleaned. We were advised that this was the only executive room available which we had booked and guaranteed payment for some three months earlier. So the implication was that it really was our own fault for booking this type of room. I felt insulted at being given a room in such a dreadful state and no inspection having taken place in recent days or maybe even weeks. We were attending a World Curling competition as competitors and game schedule sometimes allowed for some rest in the middle part of the day, however this was often impossible due to loud concrete drilling noise in the floor above our room which meant that the room could not be used by anyone. Apart from this obvious problem there was not a great deal positive to say about this hotel which certainly is in need of refurbishment. Staff were very pleasant and food was reliably pleasant, not too expensive and fairly OK. Glad to leave.
To be honest, we were quite surprised at the comfort of the beds. The other parts of the rooms weren't so modern. But the beds and pillows were fantastic! The hotel appears it is in need of a whole make over, but for the cost and comfort, we were satisfied.
they must be in the process of renovating, but I was in an original condition room. Meaning stains everywhere; carpets, walls, bathroom counters, etc. It just didn't look/feel very clean. That being said, the bar and pool area are really something special, a very cool vibe!
Stayed at Lethbridge Lodge for one night during a flying visit this month. Although it is currently rated last of all the hotels in Lethbridge, I can't really understand why. The room was basic and I was hoping for one of the newly refurbished ones, however had no such look. As it was cheap I really didn't mind and my room was clean and had all my basic requirements. The staff throughout were very helpful and polite. I know it'll take a while to finish all the refurbishments, however once completed it should be a lot better.
