We had a mostly positive stay at Canalta Lodge. The facility was clean, and our room was quiet and comfortable. Housekeeping was respectful of our belongings and consistently did a great job. The staff were friendly, and the nightly s’mores were a fun touch. The location is convenient, and there’s a playground about half a block away—great for families visiting in the summer. Breakfast was the same every day: dehydrated eggs, sausage links, potatoes, oatmeal, and pancakes from a cool-looking machine. While convenient, the lack of variety got old fast. We also had to go through several sets of silverware each morning to find clean ones, which was frustrating. We arrived about two hours before check-in and were told our room would be ready in a few minutes. It ended up taking nearly an hour, so we waited in the lounge. Better communication would’ve helped. Also, the bathroom was pretty tight—more shelving or counter space would make it more functional for families. Overall, Canalta Lodge offers a clean, cozy stay with some great amenities. If they improve breakfast quality, streamline check-in, and add a few practical touches to the rooms, it would be an easy five-star experience.

It's a nice hotel. Our experience was generally very good with an asterisk in every aspect. I liked the location. The hotel is on the far end of Banff, which is a very small town. You can easily walk to "downtown" in 10-15 minutes. There are several restaurants nearby, but the supermarket (IGA) is about 15 minutes (not ideal if carrying heavy groceries). There is a bus stop and a gas stataion nearby - the town bus is not free (unlike some resort towns). The hotel is on the main strip, easily found from the highway. The rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable. We had two rooms - one was big, one was not. One face the courtyard and was noisy (guests gather at the "backyard" at night) and the other room was quiet. There's a small fridge. Bathrooms were nice. Housekeeping was uneven. One day the service was immaculate, another day the service was haphazard (items not replaced, trash not cleaned, or no service at all). The front desk crew was amazing, both the check in and check out team were smily and efficient. WiFi worked very well for us. There is a underground garage for a (small) fee. The breakfast was good (and yes, it's the same thing everyday). I loved loved the yogurt machine and the pancake machine. They have pastries which make for a good snack later on (banana bread, carrot cake). Sometimes the bus people grab it all though. Coffee is meh but they offer Nespresso in the room. Banff is supercrowded and super-expensive in late August.

2 hot tubs and helpful staff!

The best part about the Canalta Lodge is the 2 hot tubs, barrel dry sauna and cold plunge! The decor of the hotel is very cute. Front desk staff are very helpful, especially Mannon and Dan! They were so nice to accommodate a late check out and gave us good recommendations for food. The breakfast wasn't great, oatmeal was watery and eggs had no taste, but the sausage links were good and they had a fun pancake making machine.

Enjoyed our stay and their staff!

Stayed 5 nights. Great location (close but not too close to the downtown crowds. Roam bus stop very close). Clean rooms and throughout hotel. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Loved the hot tub, sauna, daily smores. Good restaurants across the street. As mentioned by others, the daily breakfast was a little below most chain hotel breakfasts, but adequate and convenient. Wish the underground parking was free or less $. Otherwise, we loved our stay!

The rooms are a great size with “cabin themed” decor. The outdoor area has a sauna, hot tub and cold plunge pool. There is lots of seating including swings and large tables for groups, as well as 2 outdoor fire pits. can walk into Banff or take the bus. The staff are friendly and helpful. The free s’mores are a fun evening activity! The breakfast is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this property!
