The room was dated but we only used the room to sleep so we didn't mind. Suite was equipped with what we needed and check in/check out and parking was a smooth process overall. Hotel is a 5 min drive from downtown Banff close to restaurants and grocery stores.

Old buildings, but they kept the room very clean. Liked the mountain views from the room. Peaceful. Easy access to downtown.

The property is very old and dated, rooms are clean but carpets are clearly worn and dirty. Entire property is in need of upgrading, at the very least, new flooring and wall paint.

Only queen size bed with large, uncomfortable divot in the middle. Hallway carpet looked ancient and not evidently steam cleaned any time recently. Banff is expensive in general but this place is way overpriced! Kitchen cupboards were old and some didn’t close properly. Coffee table was chipped and looked like top had been glued on off-centre. Drapes couldn’t be overlapped to keep patio light out. Cleaning staff seem to have done pretty good job with the suite itself. Water park looked nice and apparently where owners put bulk of investment. Counter staff and check-in experience were fine. Would not return here or recommend to friends.

Very old. Could use some love and care. Dirty vents and tape holding things together. Door handle in bathroom broken. Slide area cool For kids but again old and visibly dirty.

Perfect location for the price, great facilities even though sauna is not working when we visit, waterpark with 2 slides and 2 hot tub (indoor and outdoor) is still a plus! We also booked the loft with kitchenette which is very good for longer stay because we can cook our food. Service is also amazing, whenever we get back to our room from a long day tour, we get into a clean bed sheets, towels and empty trash cans. Property is outdated but overall is still amazing!

For 15 years, we used to stay at the Douglas Fir with our 3 kids every summer. It is a great place for families because of the loft beds and little kitchen. We haven’t been back for 5 years and it really has gone downhill mainly because there has been almost no maintenance or upgrades. The loft apartment had damaged furniture, filthy kitchen seating with ripped cushions. The waterside and outdoor hottub are excellent for kids but the condition of the change rooms was gross. Douglas Fir has got a lot of good features, just be prepared for a very shabby yet expensive experience

Showing its age...

The hotel is definitely showing its age. It's overdue for some renovations. The room was clean, but everything was worn out. The electrical outlets were so worn out wouldn't hold anything with any weight (like a phone charger), all the faucets were falling apart, and there was inexplicably a oval seat on a round toilet... Despite that, the kids liked the waterslide, and the outdoor hot tub was really nice after a day of hiking, and the staff was friendly

It would be a good location to stay for a few days. We found it a little hard to figure out the parking and getting to our room. The room was large. AC worked well, and the fridge is full-size. Use the bus if you can to get downtown as parking is very limited.

We had a nice stay in our room. It had enough space for four people, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Our balcony faced the forest, and the room was quiet. The room decor is a bit dated.
