it is a very small hotel. The rooms are done with a local touch which is nice. The bathroom with the bath tub you can sin in is great. Kettle and fridge in the roo. Breakfast is good and taken in a bigger hotel next door on the rooftop with great scenery. the manager M. Gurhan became our private turist information center. Clean hotel but would need to give a good wash and white to the curtains ( just me being picky)

The location of the hotel is without a doubt beyond perfect if you intend to do sightseeing in Istanbul. All the main sights in Sultanahmet are within walking distance and public transport connects the hotel with the rest of Istanbul very well. One thing to consider before booking this hotel, is the relatively small size of the rooms and the bathroom. For short stays it should not be a big issue but if you're staying for more than 3-4 nights, you might want to look elsewhere. Probably the biggest issues for us were a distinctive smell of sewage and noise. The most disturbing was the noise of running water when people in other rooms were showering or using the toilet, especially at night. To conclude, we had a nice stay at Hotel Merial. You get a good value for the price you pay. However, be sure you are ready to make concessions as regards the issues I explained above.

I was treated like a family member by the manager. He was extremely helpful and always ready to give me advises and information. The breakfast included in a nearby restaurant with a panoramic view was a great way to start the day. If you are looking for a comfortable room very close to all the main attractions that Istanbul has to offer, look no further !

Very small hotel, but it was exactly what we wanted. It was quiet and clean and close to all the main attractions which was in walking distance. The staff were friendly and willing to help. Thanks again Merial hotel.

It is very well located and is a practical hotel

This hotel is not for fancy travelers. It is nice and small. For me was a nice hotel because has all the things that I expect: a good bed, nice and simple bath, air conditioned and full of small details. There is not a restaurant inside but I do not miss It because is surrounded with a lot of restaurants (small ones, expensive ones, any kind) The service is excellent and everybody are disposal to help you. The hotel is for short time trips. This hotel is for lonely travelers or maybe two. Not recomended with kids.

Excellent location. LOVED the room, especially the bathroom. Had an electric kettle in the room to make tea. Best wifi of our trip. The breakfast in the panarwmic restaurant was unbelievable. The food was spectacular, lots to choose from, sweet and savory, lots of beverage options -- and a BREATHTAKING, 360 degree view of the city. Great value. Would happily stay here again.

Best breakfast ever and location

They have breakfast on the roof, it is very nice for the price (see pictures). Location is nice, all attractions within the walking distance. Taxi from airport to the hotel - 50 TL. I will recommend to all my friends, and if i will visit Istanbul again - i'll stay there. The hotel staff is nice and friendly, last day we kept our baggage from checkout till the evening at the hotel lobby , no problem. Outside the hotel there is bike rental company (you may find them on the web, the only bike rental company in Istanbul) but the city is very difficult to ride - many of the streets are steep,

Long weekend in Istanbul

My wife and I spent a long weekend in Istanbul at this hotel. It is perfectly situated with the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia only a five minute walk away. It is also close to stops on the T1 tram line, which connects to the airport. Would definitely recommend.
