Lovely quirky hotel. The rooms are small very clean but comfortable. Right within walking distance of all the great tourist sights. Excellent location for sightseeing. Free WiFi. Breakfast is more than sufficient

I have stayed in this hotel with my husband last July, we stayed there for 4 nights. We tried to change the hotel after the 1st night we spent there but all hotels were booked and the available ones were very expensive and that's the only reason we had to stay in Celal hotel. My experience is as follows: Room: small, not clean, i had to request room service again to clean the room as the floor was full with hair and the bathroom was dirty with spots on the toilet seat. Service: There were two receptionists at the hotel in during the time we were there, one with long hair, he was nice and tried to help as much as he can. The other guy, was rude and definitely makes you feel unwelcomed. The hotel almost provides you with nothing, we asked for an iron, they didn't have, we asked for tooth brushes, also they didn't have. When we asked this receptionist what is available in the hotel! he hanged up the phone in our face! Breakfast: Very poor and basic, i have been in hotels in the same level of this hotel in Istanbul and they had a better breakfast buffet with more variety of food. Location: This could be the only advantage of this hotel, it's located near to all touristic areas in sultanahmet and close to metro stations and trams. I would not really go to this hotel again. Especially that there is a lot of options in Istanbul for same price and better service.

We picked this hotel based on the advertisement that it had an amazing rooftop beakfast and bar at night. It was closed. The rooms are tiny and bathroom door has a hole in it. The staff is nice and the location is good but it has been a dissappointment!

For the price and location, this has good value. It's minutes away from the major attraction such as the basillica cistern, Hagia Sophia, the blue mosque, hippodrome etc. We even walked across bridge to Galata Tower in ~35 minutes. Facility is pretty standard, nothing impressive but adequate. The down size is, this hotel is located in a smaller street, taxi may not know where this is. Ours enter the hotel area through the wrong road and the close was closed so we ended up dragging our lugguages around for a bit while looking for the entrance. Ask your taxi driver DO NOT access through Yerebatan Cd. Bell boy also forgot to take our lugguages to our room and the lugguages were left unattended in hotel lobby. Nothing were missing but... hope that's just a one-time oversight.

I last stayed at this hotel 12 years ago when I arranged a 60th birthday. Like me it's aged a bit but, unlike me, not so much that it shows. The rooms, at least the superior ones, are spacious. Both the showers and the air conditioning work fine. Breakfast are what you might call standard hotel Turkish, but better than most and quite adequate. The staff as before, particularly the younger ones, are helpful and anxious to please. The hotel had lost its restaurant but frankly it was never going to compete when there are more than 20 within a seven minute walk. The hotel scores on two fronts. It's location and it is quiet. Turn right out of the main entrance, left at the top on the road, just 2 minutes walk, and you can see the entrance to one of the most famous sights, the underground cistern (tip go when it's just opened at 9. It's at its best when it's empty of people). Walk past it and you are outside Aya Sophia(there is a fantastic view from the hotel roof terrace). Turn left and another 5 minutes and you can enter the blue Mosque. The tram stop is a short walk from the hotel (from the hotel the obvious route is not the quickest, ask at reception) and will take you where any self respecting tourist would want to go! (Tip 2, if there at least two of you buy a travel card for 6tl, and load cash onto it. Ticket prices are cheaper if a card is used. It can be passed from one person to another, so say a group of six, would only need one card if they always travelled together). Most of the hotels and bars in this part of Sultan Ahmet are to the right of Aya Sophia, if you are facing it, past the mosque complex. The bars go on til quite late. It can be noisy. The Celal Sultan being on the left is far quieter, even at say about 8pm. If you have children you may appreciate this. So all in all it's a good place for any tourist to stay. If you do choose to stay here one last tip. Contact the hotel and get them to arrange the taxi that picks you up from the hotel. Not only is it cheaper but the taxi won't get lost when yet again the local council chooses to close another road without much warning!

My wife & I stayed at Celal Sultan for one night ( standard room) .Excellent location and really walking distance of historical buildings and tram stations .Warmly entrance hall , breakfast room and nice terrace . Our standard room on the first floor (104) beside Salkimsogut street was tiny with no tea/coffee maker .The bath/toilet room smelled because there was no fan .The street was quiet during midnight untill moorning.

The very first impression of this hotel - classic yet beautiful.. Not only beautiful on its exterior but also the frontline staff who are well mannered, soft spoken, guest friendly & definitely kind-hearted, understanding & helpful. The rooms & restaurant are very clean and well-maintained.

Clean rooms, large bathroom, and courteous and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and wifi worked well. Breakfast was pretty tasty, if a bit repetitive. The airport pick-up was on time both times. Recommended!

I was staying in Istanbul in March. I came here for Erasmus+ program and organizers chose this hotel. The hotel is really very comfortable for a visitor. Place is very accessible and hotel is located near Hagia Sophia and Basilica Cistern sights. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. I asked reception team a lot of questions and had a lot of concerns, but they have been always very nice to me. Breakfast and room are wonderful.

Amazing hotel friendly staff and helpfully good location is only 2 min to metro station and hagia sophia and sultan ahmed very clean room and good breakfast i really feel I'm staying in hone more the hotel .
