I booked 3 nights from booking.com from 16 to 19 july on grand room with balcony,on check in they told me that my room is not available as the system did not stop booking to other people and they apologized and gave me small room instead for the first night and free transportation to airport on check out or 15 £ for difference between room rates, by the way room rate when i booked was 100£ /night and on time of check in was 900£ / night , that means they take the benifit of the new rate price, by the way also i am not the first one that face this problem . Other negative feedback , no transporation can reach the hotel , all stop about 200 meters away and suppose to contact the hotel to get your luggage to the hotel On check out no bellman available to take luggage from rooms and i brought it down by myself
The location of this hotel is excellent. On top of that, the staff at this hotel is so friendly and helpful - it is truely an experience. Ask reception for any advise on tours etc and they will really get all information for you.
Boutique Saint Sophia Hotel is a perfect way to get to know Istanbul, very modern, but still very elegant, definitely perfect for a romantic getaway. The staff was kind and attentive. The Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Basilica Cistern are literally either next door or around the corner, making it easy to visit these places right after breakfast, when they were largely empty. The hotel breakfast was fantastic in its diversity and quality. There's a currency exchange and slew of casual eateries next door. The hotel lends bikes too! Beyond the immediate sites to see that are next door, it's only a mile walk to cross the Galata Bridge to explore other parts of Istanbul. The free WiFi was usable, but don't expect high speed access if you need that for work/leisure. Taxi's get confused by the small road, so it may be better to ask the taxi to drop you off by the Hagia Sophia entrance, and you can walk over that last corner.
As mentioned by others this hotel is within easy walking distance to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Cistern, Archaeological Museum, etc. In fact we walked everywhere. Access to the hotel is problematic and I would advise using a hotel transfer to avoid being ripped off by a taxi driver like we were. The entry is up a small incline which can be slippery when wet so not good for people with walking difficulties. We were disappointed to find that the deluxe room we had booked was not available for our first night - how does that happen? It meant delaying our unpacking until we moved into our room the following day which was a pain because the temporary room we were given did not have a luggage rack so to sit the case on. Our room was clean, modern and very comfortable. Some more towel rails/hooks would have been useful. We visited during Ramazan so this may have been why the Sophia Pita Café & Restaurant was not open. If not then the website and in-lift advertising should be reviewed. In all this was an amazing place to stay and we were very happy with the service provided. We were provided with an early light breakfast the day we left early for a tour and a sandwich when we checked out at 0430. Thankyou for a great stay.
No better location, in the backyard of the Ayasofia, close to small shops and restaurants. Welcloming staff, great service in restaurant and housekeeping. One problem, taxis can't get close because of the historic district and access is up a steep walkway. Once you're up there, you'll be happy.
Situated just in the middle of everything, two minutes on foot from the Sultanahemet Square! Modern hotel in an old building. The first room we had was not what we expected, way too small and dark, but we were able to get a corner one from which we could see Hagia Sophia just a street over. Not sure what happened at the reservation! Excellent service, very good staff.
Arrived early on a Saturday morning and the taxi dropped me off at Sultanahmet Archeological Park claiming that he couldn't drive up to the hotel due to its location. The Hotel was just a 5 minute walk up Alemdar Cd. The back of the Hotel actually overlooks the back of Hagia Sophia. You couldn't get much closer to the major historical attractions of Sultanahmet. Built on a slope, there's a fair bit of stairs to negotiate so wouldn't recommend for young kids nor wheelchair bound guests. Check in was seamless and as I had booked the room from the night before, it was ready for us immediately. I would recommend the rooms with balconies that either overlook the back of Hagia Sophia or a large room that overlooks Alemdar Cd. I think its worth the additional cost. The room was excellent although being on the top floor, I had to look out for the roof beams. Breakfast was served on the ground floor but there were lots of options for breakfast walking distance from the Hotel. I think you couldn't get a better location in Sultanahmet area and the staff are extremely knowledgeable giving suggestions on where to go and how best to get there. I would definitely come back.
This is a beautiful hotel, with the most amazing location, don't think you can get a better location. However, be aware not to get a room on the road side as its noisy, and don't go on the ground floor as you hear everything thats happening at reception and the lobby as its a small hotel. Service was amazing, rooms are very nicely done and breakfast was good. The only down side is that the sound proofing of the rooms is not the best and needs upgrading, can hear too much from other rooms and reception and the road. If you're lucky to get a nice room upgrade on a higher floor towards the back of the hotel then thats brilliant. Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay again!
Located at the heart of Sultanameth, a stone throw away from Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace; rooms are good in size and modern in design; full breakfast was included, and it was a pleasant surprise; staff made everything they could to make us feel welcomed.
Well run boutique hotel----great welcoming and extremely helpful staff. Small room, but always clean. Great breakfast and they offer "Afternoon Tea." Our stay, despite being ill two days, was solid. The only bad moments were the noisy couple re-living theiur honeymoon every hour----they kept us up ALL NIGHT, they checked out so our last two days were calm and tranquil.
