The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Impolite receptionists, dirty bathroom, uncomfortable extra bed. And finally after a an awful stay , you are charged for things you never had never used. Totally ruined my trip.
I am stuck in this hotel because pre-paid by my company whereas I should have run away. No way that it has ever been a 5 star, even less than average for a 3 star. If the lobby and bar are okay, the rooms instead are terrible: oldish stinky smelly stainy., dull...definitely not a business hotel and really depressing. Bad Istanbul experience.
I hardly recommend not to choose this 3 star hotel because of the following negative points : 1- dirty bath 2-very dirty carpet in the room 3-very poor cleaning and room make up 4-Very noisy hotel , you can easily hear all people in the corridor and also other people while talking in other rooms , something you think someone is nocking the door 5- no toothbrush , no toothpaste , no iron in the room 6- very poor internet 7- poor breakfast like 3 star hotel 8- no indoor pool . The out door pool doesn't have heating system 9-you have just 1 small bottle of water for all your stay in surmeli and you have to pay for other days and they don't mention it when you check in . 10- security of hotel checks your belonging during entering hotel every time and they don't let you enter any alcoholics drink to your room and again they don't mention you at the time of check in . 11- room has no fan to fresh the air or WC Good points : 1- near Cevahir Mall 2-cheap hotel among the other 5 stars
Room was so so . Receptionist firstly try to give room standart one which was suit reserved and she changed after long talking and gave smoking room even requested non smoking room also . However Room service was good and also taste of food was good. This hotel need renovation also
Surmeli hotel is very normal hotel it's 5 star hotel but in reality i think it's 3 to 4 star the internet is to slow and you don't have internet in the room you should go to loby of your floors to use internet. Breakfast is normal too location is not perfect the room is clean but old
As a part of our family vacation, my wife and I stayed for 6 nights at the Surmeli hotel, Istanbul this August, and the following summarizes our review during our stay: 1. The reception desk were friendly enough, but the hotel appeared to be heavily understaffed. Despite checking in after 2PM, it took them a long while to process the hotel-vouchers and provide us with the rooms, while none of the customary questions with regards to our room-preferences were asked. With English as my second language, the staff appeared to have some difficulty communicating with me using the language, as well. 2. There was no choice of non-smoking rooms offered, which turned to be a problem for us: the rooms and corridors stank of old cigarette smoke. 3. The standard rooms were not spacey, and we had some problems accommodating the baggage for two. The wardrobe was also small for two persons, and poorly designed. Clothes iron and pressboard were not provided by default. 4. The rooms were NOT sound-proof (esp. towards the corridors), and the constant screaming of the kids and doors banging from adjacent rooms made it almost impossible to sleep. 5. Despite being clean, the duvet covers were quite worn out and had holes from prolonged bleaching. 6. The double-bed consisted of two single-beds pulled close together with a gap in between the mattresses. The mattresses were comfortable enough, though. 7. The mini-bar fridge was not working, and it took almost 24 hours for the hotel to send someone to fix the problem, and it took the fridge another 24 hours to reach its best "lukewarm" temperatures. A free 0.5L bottle of water (once), and free (supposedly daily) instant coffee and tea were provided. (They forgot the refill, some days) The provided cups were chipped, which is disappointing for a so-called five-star hotel. 8. Room service was regular, and understanding towards not re-positioning the personal items; however, they forgot to empty the trash-bins frequently. (Under-staffed, as well?) 9. They bathroom was clean, and supplies were provided on a regular basis. 10. The air-conditioning controls appeared to be modern with a digital panel; however, the access to various controls were heavily limited and after 1 day, the temperature was set to 20 degrees with controls not changing anything anymore, and it felt more like 25-26 degrees with this enforced setting. 11. Since there are several good cafes and restaurants nearby, we didn't bother trying the hotel's restaurant. SUMMARY: Maybe ONCE this hotel was awarded with 5-stars, but someone should really reconsider that! Our rooms were pre-paid, so we had no choice for cancellation... We strongly advise against staying at this hotel if you are non-smoker, need to sleep, and value your money.
Stayed with parents and sister at end of July for 5 nights. Bathroom smelled like the sewer. Wasn't very clean overall. Staff were ok, they weren't horrible but I didn't like approaching them. There was one member of staff at the pool who wasn't inviting and told us we weren't allowed to sit. Their English isn't good. You can hear EVERYTHING when you're in your room and bathroom. Too much noise (from other people) to sleep. The lifts are very slow (there are 4). Rooms had stains everywhere (walls, carpet, bathroom). Rooms definitely needs a modern FRESH look and feel. You can tell the rooms don't get looked after. Would not recommend.
Hotel is dated and very busy. Many travel tours commence and finish there so lobby activity is hectic. Food is acceptable for local custom. Bar prices are a bit high. Only lobby had free wifi. Pool was popular with children.
I was there for two nights. I arrived early in the morning and I must wait until 2 pm for check in , but with kind of reception , I took my room in 10 am. The hotel was tidy and clean ,bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. Overall i recommended.
We stayed there for a week. It was B&B. We did like the food quality. Very clean and staff are just friendly. But it is not a real 5* hotel. All in all, we liked the place. The neighborhood is good but it's far from Taksim.
