Stayed here in December 2017. Finding this location was made easier with a GPS, as it's tucked away on a hillside. Check-in was easy, and they added the daily-pay parking to my bill (at $32 dollars per day, seems outlandish, but is apparently the norm down there). I was driving a pickup truck, so I was unable to park in the parkade. The overall appearance is clean and tidy. Although the decor of this hotel seems vintage (think 1970's-80's), the room was very clean. It was interesting to see how close the door in the bathroom came to hitting the sink! I really enjoyed the comfort of the bed. Television was nice and new, and although I had a downtown view, it was enjoyable. It is interesting to see the ebb and flow of pedestrian traffic downtown from your room. The restaurant downstairs is pretty expensive, and you don't get a whole lot portion wise, but convenient if you want something with a spectacular view of the river valley and want something on-site. I would recommend this hotel for sure, it was a good experience.
I needed a downtown hotel to be close to a friend going through medical treatment. Got a good rate off Expedia (after a bit of a system hiccup that they sorted within 10 minutes.) Check-in was fast and friendly. Room was beautiful. My 'city view' actually was on a back corner with views across the river valley so I was quite delighted. The room was spotless and well appointed - plenty of plugins for electronics, a desk, and loads of storage available. Free wifi and mini fridge in room. Bathroom was well appointed - would have been nice to have a counter top with room for a cosmetic bag instead of a narrow ledge, but that was only very minor complaint. Water was piping hot and great pressure. (P.S. The hair dryer hangs in a bag off the back of the bathroom door - took me a few minutes to find that!) Had breakfast buffet at the Bistro each morning. Food options were plentiful and varied. Loved the fresh bread loaf. Staff were attentive, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Even sent me out with a second cup of tea in a go cup! All in all, a good solid hotel with great service. Parking is available, but as other reviewers have suggested, it is expensive. $25/night (until 9am) for the outdoor lot, and $30 for the valet. There is a multi-storey parkade next door, I think, but it wasn't offered as an option, so not sure what the rates are there. If you come back to the outdoor lot during the day, it's $7/hour.
Friendly and helpful staff. My room was clean and quiet and housekeeping was efficient. All my business was within easy walking distance. No major issues, at all, during my stay. I would stay here again.
great place to stay, so close to the Shaw Center. All the staff was extremely pleasant and always willing to help! a big thank you to the sales manager Siddharth Kalgutkar he was wonderful to work with.
This hotel is badly in need of refurbishing. It is generally priced well for downtown Edmonton, but the room I stayed in was a bit rundown. Unfortunately, I got in late and left early so didn't get to experience the view outside my window, but something tells me they are relying a little too much on the view. The parking cost is astronomical at compared to other hotels downtown as well.
We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is nice, rooms are smaller but clean, quiet and updated. While the hotel is located in a good spot downtown, parking is very hectic and would be a reason I wouldn’t stay here again. It was a busy weekend in Edmonton but every time we pulled in there was no where to even pull the car in, upon checking in we were told to leave the keys and they would look after parking but this was difficult as we were trying to manoeuvre luggage out of the vehicle while parked in the street. At first we thought our vehicle was getting parked in front of the hotel so could justify paying the $30/night but then discovered it was parked in the self park lot in front of the hotel. Overall not a bad stay but given other options Downtown we’d likely stay somewhere else next time:
Within walking distance of the new arena which is why I stayed here. Room was a nice size as I was upgraded. Definitely a dated hotel. Check in line was long! Elevators painfully slow. Parking there is your choice of valet for $32. Yes that’s your only choice, which did not impress me. There is a very small public lot on the property, but the front desk told me I would have to move my car by 7am. Probably would not stay here again.
From our check in to our departure the staff were amazeballs. The hotel is a little worn, (halls and such) but that is not a reason to overlook this hotel. The rooms are big, comfortable , and the services make this a wonderful alternative to other downtown hotels. The river side views are gorgeous and only a fraction of the price of the neighboring. The restaurant and bar's value and flavors were top notch. The patio was wonderful. Again, comparing to neighboring hotels, the food value and flavors were just better. Close to the Shaw center, and some neat tourist sites and trails makes this destination great for a downtown holiday. Only challenge here is that neighborhood does have typical urban homeless population, so recommend practicing good security and if you have a car let them park it for you as they have secured spaces. (downtown parking is expensive so be warned) Would stay here again!
This hotel is very conveniently located downtown. It is within walking distance of many of the attractions downtown including City Center Mall. My room was clean but bathroom was in need of an upgrade. I hear they are planning an upgrade in August or September of 2018. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food in restaurant was very good. Room was quite quiet and faced Jasper Avenue.
The external building is not too endearing but the inside cleans up nicely. The rooms are a box as well with a bathroom ,our room was quite large Very clean room and fairly spacious bathroom with a nice tub and shower in our room Staff all were very good and courteous and helpful Convenient location The patio for the in house Riverside Bistro is excellent Mid range price for a mid range property
