This was my second stay, first as a professional. I liked it better as a student. Parking is $32 extra and the business center was not functioning. Staff were helpful but very busy. The room really made the visit, being beautifully decorated and boasting a stunning view of the river. The restaurant is overpriced and food underwhelming. Server Kitty was great, really made the visit for me.
I have stayed here numerous times and it never disappoints! The staff are amazing...always friendly and polite. Rooms are large and clean. Food in the restaurant is terrific and so are the servers! I don't enjoy the stress of downtown Edmonton, but at least when I must be there, staying here makes it so much better!
We've stayed here a couple of time over the past year when attending events at Rogers Place. It's only about a 15 minute walk with lots of restaurants and pubs in between. The rate was the best we could find for downtown but the second time we stayed they didn't offer free parking so I'll need to figure that in next time. Our check in experience was smooth and easy. We ended up using the valet parking instead of the free self park we had last time we were here because the option was not available. The room was identical to the one we stayed in the first time. A decent size but a bit tight between the bed and the dresser. I did find that the fridge layout was poor. The cabinet door opened one way and the fridge door opened the other way so when you went to access the fridge you had to open the two doors and then climb in between them and the bed. We had the same view of Jasper Ave and the parking lot. Wish we could have had a river valley view. But we did get to see the great view the next morning when we went for breakfast. We paid the extra $10 on the room rate for the breakfast and it was well worth it. Buffet with fruit, eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage. There was also a waffle and toast station and coffee and orange juice were all included. The gave us a bill for the breakfast and we asked about it and they said that was the amount they used for their internal accounting. So I guess we paid $10 extra on the room rate for a $37 breakfast. So in my mind I balanced the valet parking fee against the breakfast savings and I was able to justify them. We enjoyed our stay here and found that every staff member that we dealt with was very professional and extremely helpful. From the girl at check-in to the valet to our breakfast waiter. The service was exceptional. I'm sure we will be back.
If you are looking for decent quiet and family hotel to stay, this is it. We stayed here for one night but we have had stayed in this hotel for few nights previously on separate occasions as well. we were checked in by this beautiful young lady named "Angelica" , very kind spoken and understanding associate. We were given a room with view on the 6th floor , two queens. Now if u do choose two queen beds let me tell u this, one queen is firmer and one queen is softer, for people who usually face back pain and stiff muscles this might be handy. Me and my husband and our children were satisfied with the experience we had. few things that did concerned us while staying there and might to other people : 1) One of their two elevators wasn't working , and it made a longer waiting line at the time of check in. 2) One of their lamps in the room had a bulb fused that my husband managed to fix later, but it was brought up to Front desk's notice. 3) There was a half filled water bottle on the coffee table, seemed like someone must have drank it, also was brought up to front desk's notice. we were offered a complimentary fresh fruit plate as they were out of breakfast vouchers to give as a compensation.
Very old hotel and nothing to be wowed with in this hotel, looking at the brand thought it would be great stay however it was normal hotel with normal amenities, staff is courteous n helpful, Lift is old and makes sound, the carpets were torn, but the location was good Sorry won't be back
We checked in the hotel for business. We explained that we are using a company credit card and that person with the card is flying in later tonight, so don’t charge my card at all just hold the room. “No problem” I checked my card later in the night to learn it had been charged $800. Went to front desk and they said they couldn’t do anything until we checked out. Both rooms charged the same amount. This was unacceptable! Nobody could give a correct answer, brutal customer service. Also, the parking is $32 per night (rip off) many other hotels don’t charge this and are way better. They also charge $2.50 for bottled water which is also ridiculous. This is Edmonton not NYC. Lastly, no continental breakfast, rather a $13.99 I believe. This is Edmonton folks, not Dubai. Bottom line don’t stay here, better hotels all around.
Room was great and service was very friendly. Hotel seems a bit older, but upkept quite well. Great view if you're overlooking the river. Very conveniently located within walking distance of business downtown and/or hockey games. Would stay again. Price is great.
Stayed here in December 2017. Finding this location was made easier with a GPS, as it's tucked away on a hillside. Check-in was easy, and they added the daily-pay parking to my bill (at $32 dollars per day, seems outlandish, but is apparently the norm down there). I was driving a pickup truck, so I was unable to park in the parkade. The overall appearance is clean and tidy. Although the decor of this hotel seems vintage (think 1970's-80's), the room was very clean. It was interesting to see how close the door in the bathroom came to hitting the sink! I really enjoyed the comfort of the bed. Television was nice and new, and although I had a downtown view, it was enjoyable. It is interesting to see the ebb and flow of pedestrian traffic downtown from your room. The restaurant downstairs is pretty expensive, and you don't get a whole lot portion wise, but convenient if you want something with a spectacular view of the river valley and want something on-site. I would recommend this hotel for sure, it was a good experience.
I needed a downtown hotel to be close to a friend going through medical treatment. Got a good rate off Expedia (after a bit of a system hiccup that they sorted within 10 minutes.) Check-in was fast and friendly. Room was beautiful. My 'city view' actually was on a back corner with views across the river valley so I was quite delighted. The room was spotless and well appointed - plenty of plugins for electronics, a desk, and loads of storage available. Free wifi and mini fridge in room. Bathroom was well appointed - would have been nice to have a counter top with room for a cosmetic bag instead of a narrow ledge, but that was only very minor complaint. Water was piping hot and great pressure. (P.S. The hair dryer hangs in a bag off the back of the bathroom door - took me a few minutes to find that!) Had breakfast buffet at the Bistro each morning. Food options were plentiful and varied. Loved the fresh bread loaf. Staff were attentive, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Even sent me out with a second cup of tea in a go cup! All in all, a good solid hotel with great service. Parking is available, but as other reviewers have suggested, it is expensive. $25/night (until 9am) for the outdoor lot, and $30 for the valet. There is a multi-storey parkade next door, I think, but it wasn't offered as an option, so not sure what the rates are there. If you come back to the outdoor lot during the day, it's $7/hour.
Friendly and helpful staff. My room was clean and quiet and housekeeping was efficient. All my business was within easy walking distance. No major issues, at all, during my stay. I would stay here again.
