The Fairmont Dallas

The Fairmont Dallas was my worst hospitality experience ever. I landed at DFW at 11:30. Called the hotel to say I would be arriving late. The switchboard answered but said I needed to talk to the front desk. Desk never answered after 10 minutes on line, so I took Uber downtown, arriving at 12:30. Despite guaranteed late arrival, was informed that the hotel was "overbooked" (meaning that they sold my room to collect $400 twice), but that they would get me into the Hyatt. They gave a letter asking the Hyatt to give me a room and one phone call, like I was headed to the county jail. At the Hyatt, I was told that the letter was for the Hyatt DFW, 40 minutes away. Returning to the Fairmont they said oops sorry, put me in a cab to the Hyatt. I had booked at gold level executive room with lounge access. Returning late afternoon the next day, several more mistakes and delays were encountered, but finally I was given a large suite. It was not a great room, the shower was anemic, but it was large and had a board room table. The gold lounge turns out to charge $7-$15/drink. The suite had the standard minibar with automated charging if you touch a bottle to see what it is. Pretty cheesy for a Fairmont. With the long delay coming and returning and coming from the airport, I was exhausted the second day and did not have a room to use during the day. I understand airlines have troubles, but I can't see the excuse for a hotel denying a prepaid room. This is not a legitimate Fairmont.

We were so happy to go to Fairmont Dallas on Vacation. But the hotel wasn't up kept well. The bathroom had a slow moving drain which they never fixed. The faucet handles were broken and several Fitness equipment machines were broken so you couldn't use them properly. The pool was great size for laps but there were a lot of ants all over the pool. The hotel was located downtown close to the Dallas museum and Dallas world aquarium. The Fairmont in San Francisco is so much better.

We booked the king suite of the Fairmont and overall it was an enjoyable stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, the views were wonderful, the lobby was quaint and decorated beautifully, and the staff was very friendly. Staying in the king suite, I expected it to be the most kept up room in the hotel - and it may be - but it was very outdated. The toilet looked like it was installed 30+ years ago. There were light bulbs out that I purposely left on for house keeping but were never changed, and several small details left undone. Overall the king suite was barely sub-par for what I expected and paid. I'd stay there again, but only for a super discounted rate.

My daughter and myself stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while sightseeing, and we very much enjoyed the experience. It was conveniently located to downtown, JFK memorial and about 15-20 mins walk to the Reunion tower. There was one small glitch: we went swimming and there were no towels by the pool, I called downstairs, waited and still no towels. While checking out I did mention this to the staff at the front desk, they were soo apologetic and refunded me the internet fee. I felt that it was more then fairly taken care of. And the restaurant at the hotel (Pyramid) was also great! We were late for breakfast, but wanted breakfast food and the staff accommodated us by serving us breakfast! Truly great customer service.

Took my boys into Dallas for my 17 year-old's birthday, to create a memory. We had a great time. Thanks!

This hotel was a good value, but it's time for an update. On par with Marriott or Wyndham. Not on par with other Fairmonts.

Good location. Staff went out of their way to help with dinner choices and then gave me a ride in a shuttle to the restaurant. Outstanding service.

Top notch start to finish. Kind staff, clean room with everything I needed. Gift shop had everything I forgot readily available, but doesn't take returns and charges $1.50 for a collar stay (singular), but I would definitely return.

Very clean, and very nice hotel. Would definitely stay gain.

This hotel is nice, old in a good way, clean, centrally located and would be good for business travel or meeting. We were going to a concert at American Airlines Center and this hotel is just too stiff, zero personality, no fun. Also I made reservation for two in my husbands name & when my room key didn't work, the front desk would not make me another key since my name wasn't on reservation, even with my ID showing same last name and room booked for two. Never had that happen and it was very inconvenient. Like I said, it's nice & clean, but a dud.

The front desk staff was extremely friendly and allowed us to check in early. The location isn't that good for restaurants within walking distance. Valet is understaffed and had to wait too long. Starbucks on ground floor should open earlier than 7 a.m. when conferences start at 7 a.m. (unable to get morning coffee before 7 a.m. meeting started)

Staff is very nice and the rooms are comfortable. TVs are small and the channel selection is limited. Pool area is more cramped than website photos suggest, and the building casts a shadow during certain hours. There are no eateries, coffee shops, or convenience stores in the immediate area (expect to walk a few blocks). Many of the surrounding shops/restaurants are closed on Saturdays & Sundays. Not many options other than the overpriced store and eatery in the hotel.

Best is the location next to the Arts District. Seems to be primarily a conference hotel, but fairly quiet and better than average.

Shower was plugged and ice machine didn't work and the hotel staff would not leave my room alone even though I had the do not disturb sign out

I'm absolutely impressed by the service. I've traveled to many of 5-star hotels around the world yet the service here is up to par with any of these. I've stayed at a so called 5-star in Bahamas & the this property has better, faster, & more effective service. The room was spacious, clean, modern, & had gorgeous marble in the bathroom, high shower head & super strong pressure, quality bedding, & keriug coffee maker in the room with flavored cream. Room service was faster than promised & delicious. I left my credit card at restaurant the night before, the security guard from lost & found brought it up to my room in less than 5 minutes after I called. When you call the front desk you truly receive the "royal treatment" because they answer the phone within two rings & call you by your name. The terrace is gorgeous, overlooking downtown Dallas, but more impressed by the Pyramid restaurant's herb & veggie garden. They grow their own spices! Blew me away. Something you would see in Paris. Check in was fast. Parking was fast & friendly. The gift shop has everything you need. Super friendly staff. The pool was clean & trendy, has a bar, pool-side lunch service, & comfortable music playing in the background. Starbucks in the lobby. Elevators are fast & the gym is better than most 5-star hotels I've visited. Although, I didn't bring my dog, good to know they are pet-friendly. I'm absolutely happy I chose the Fairmont in Dallas, better than San Jose or San Francisco hotels which I've visited too. Lastly, I plan to stay here in the future, it's better than the 2 others so called 5-star hotels in Dallas. I got a great deal as well. Thank you.

location and stuff was great, the halls a bit old fashion , restaurant is good ,the service is vary good , very friendly people.

great downtown Dallas location. Great customer service. Clean room. Definitely would stay again.

Great location. Rooms and hallways seemed a little outdated. Staff and amenities were solid.

David, we apologize for your experience. It is never our intention to have to relocate any of our guests and when it does very occasionally occur this is not the way that we expect to deliver the news. We take your feedback very seriously and will be reviewing our procedures to retrain where required.
